The urban left can afford a Labour government. If you can afford to live in a big city it doesn't matter what party is in

Theresa May declared her remain position very late compared with others. I think she hung around until the last minute because she wanted to stay in Government. She also stated to Andrew Marr that it was impossible to control immigration whilst we had free movement- and people endlessly criticised her for not keeping it under control. Although she declared Remain I believe it was to stay in the Cameron cabinet as she obviously was up against it as Home Secretary with the EU rules and regs. The DUP are Brexiteers but will probably want a 'soft' Brexit so it looks promising to me

That might explain why I never get junk mail as I have never signed up to them

To the man that asked my 6 year old to cycle on the road
uncleglen replied to R U IN ED's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A 6 year old on a bike is not exactly cycling, it is more like playing with a toy, or a scooter. Young children are too small to stand a chance on the road until they are on a full size cycle imo -
I see your favourite newspaper is trying to sway votes today on the Yahoo newsfeed... https://uk.news.yahoo.com/prison-population-soars-nearly-40-075337574.html

It's probably someone parked there for the day - convenient for ED station?

She's probably scared stiff she'll put her foot in it again. I wonder if she has nightmares about being unprepared...

I would imagine ALL these solutions would have been considered, but you can bet your bottom dollar they would have ALL been rejected by the EU Laws. -
London Bridge incident - confirmed as terrorism
uncleglen replied to Jules-and-Boo's topic in The Lounge
I was quite surprised that anyone could keep up the 'nice neighbour' routine for 3 years. And rh- as I have frequently said- everything I post is true and from my personal experience of where I have lived and worked - sorry if I spoil your rose-tinted view. I sometimes wonder if the Ecstasy generation was deliberately allowed to flourish because, as one frequent user I had the misfortune to work with said, 'everyone should take it as it makes you love everything'- might explain why the tolerance is so illogical. -
Sundridge Park- is very close to the station

I should have been more specific- there are people out there who deliberately work for say, 3 days a week and make up their money in tax credits. Employers complain that they cannot get full-time staff because of this skiving attitude. I had a terribly poor upbringing which was why I was attracted to the extreme lefties when I was young and their re-distribution of wealth thing...well, I grew up and as I'd had a very good education (which has been denied to most poor working class kids these days) I could see that the lefties have to keep the poor in their place and uneducated- or who else would vote for them- except people working in the public sector...?

Apparently one of them lived in Barking and had been an upstanding and useful member of his community for three years according to one of his neighbours... -

The arena of the Rock am Ring Festival near Koblenz was evacuated tonight due to a terrorist threat. Attended by about 80,000... -
Well then, perhaps the recipient will have an incentive to work more hours since there are complaints from some quarters that people only want to work a certain number of hours as they can top up their income with tax credits. People in general are receiving more of their own income as the threshold has risen....why should I work to support other people who choose to skive

Way back in the 1970s the WRP had a manifesto which included setting up a workers' militia instead of the police, locking everyone up who was a drug addict or alcoholic- because apparently in their 'utopia' people would not need these escapes - some of the members I met were teachers, Vanessa Redgrave and her late brother, Robert Powell popped up at a spring fair fund raiser, and Mungo Jerry (the band) played at the conference. These ideas do not go away- their adherents are just better than they used to be at hiding them...

The bit of the South Circular leading to the Richmond Park left turn also has some Zac Goldsmith posters up. I would put one up but I don't want a brick through my window.... And Borky- what is selfish about not wanting to donate half your tax and national insurance money to free-loaders and their dodgy families, instead of entrepreneurs who actually create jobs?

I do ascribe the same view to other religions. I heard a girl tell her friend that people who do not go to church are evil. -

the thread is about the manchester attack. I did not say that religious extremism is restricted to islamic faiths. In fact the Westborough Baptist Church is as bad as they often demonstrate against the 'way of life' of say rock stars e.g. Dime Bag Darryl Abbott, Jeff Hanneman....- and they were planning to picket the Kansas City performance of Soundgarden last Sunday. Also a lot of muslims attend catholic institutions for education as they follow the same vile attitude toward gay people. None of what I have said is 'made up'- it is not my fault that you have lived a sheltered life JoeLeg. I sometimes wish I had never, as an outspoken atheist, come across the vile medieval attitudes that are apparent in some 'faith' schools- and then I would be just like you -

Many of them are made vulnerable because of the massive contradictions in their lives beginning at birth. They are brought up to think that western ways and values are inferior and that our christian faith is split up into many branches (they have sat in my classroom and said so on many occasions). Then all around them are young people having fun, going out, not going to a place of worship every week through choice and they are trying to be friends, or not, with them but they cannot join in the fun. I remember being in North Cross Road a couple of Xmases ago and the little stage was up, the then Muslim mayor was there and there were 2 children coming out of the mosque with adult men who were talking and the children were looking up the road at the fun going on. Then the men took them away in the opposite direction. I dread to think what they would go through if they found out they were gay...
