It was inevitable that the government steps in over too lenient sentencing because judges have a very narrow view of the 'real' world and the general public is often outraged at too lenient sentences. I believe in prevention being better than cure and it is well documented that young kids show sociopathic/psychopathic tendencies at a young age and almost no intervention takes place. I personally taught one when he was 12 and it was obvious there was something up....

Yes RPC- it is ALL up to the individual to be responsible- but as we have seen for decades now - most individuals are selfish and therefore will do nothing to improve things. And as for making people switch off their engines when stationary....only yesterday I saw a diesel BMW, engine running, driver texting- I crossed over to avoid the fumes- how will that be enforced? I know some newer cars have engines that stop when stationary at traffic lights etc - that would have to be mandatory for all new cars. But that does nothing to stop the air borne particulates from construction- I just wish for rain....this weather is perfect- sunny and downpours

goldfinches in my garden eating the seeds from the dandelion clocks that I've been remiss in removing- and may very well let them grow now (however, if the goldfinches eat the seeds there won't be many dandelions ...). The clever birds push the stalk down with their foot and then eat the seeds and the fluffy bit blows away
