  1. Went there for the first time today and don't think i will bother going back to waste more money for old rope. We had two different mojitos and both tasted the same - like toothpasty water, yuk. The barman was chatting away to me about mojitos while making the cocktails, i asked if he had been to liquorish and said how nice their strawberry mojitos etc were. He said he hadn't been there. This is no surprise, if they had checked out the competition i doubt they would have bothered with their watery cocktails. How can this place seriously call itself a cocktail bar when you can't even taste the alcohol?? Bar story in peckham rye do a great mojito and its cheaper! Does anyone else think the interior is like a cheap version of locale 'changing rooms' styley? I found the bench area by the window pretty uncomfortable, the table was miles away and really high! For anyone who is about to go for the first time I recommend taking a hip flask of your favourite tipple.
  2. I think a local locksmith or carpenter should be able to fit a birmingham bar. I searched but i can't find anything on saltwater kits. can you direct me?
  3. Last time i went food was good, although they did try to tell me my free prosecco voucher was out of date when it had 2 weeks left on it. It was a saturday night they made a fuss about not being able to book a table at the time i wanted so we took an earlier table. They told me we would have to vacate the table after 2 hours which we did, although there was no need as it did not get busy. We took a seat in the bar area and had a few more drinks. It was at this point we admired the view of Altima court... and then noticed we could see naked people on the top floor!! I think it was a bathroom so be warned to close the curtains/blinds!
  4. I live in a block of flats by the station and i was burgled last week. I suspect they got in the building via the shared front door using the tradesman buzzer, so if you have one i would reccommend you deactivate it asap. Also think about re-enforcing your door with the london/birmingham bar as mentioned on other threads.
  5. No vouchers down by the station either...
  6. I work next to Mincing Lane. You can take the 40 bus all the way and get off just before sainsburys or at fenchurch street station. (After you cross the bridge the bus will turn right at M+S, be on alert for sainsburys!) You could also take the train to london bridge then walk it about 15 mins. Depending which side of east dulwich you live you could also take the 78 from down by peckham rye all the way over Tower bridge and walk from there. A black cab is about ?18-20 (more after midnight). Obviously a mini cab is cheaper. Are you going to Agenda??
  7. its such a shame that all the quirky little places that made each dulwich what it is are no longer able to afford to operate. Anyone else afraid the place will be taken over by chains as they are the only ones who can afford the rent?
  8. My road which is about 5 years old isn't event on there!! What date was it completed?
  9. About 50% look occupied. If you get the train you can see straight into the lounges on the track side.

    RedStar!

the living room closed a fair few months ago according to a friend.
  11. I went a few years ago when there were only about 10,000 people attending. it was a great little festival with loads of families. There was only one stage and people were sat down all day listening to the bands so it was really chilled out. I gather it has got quite a bit bigger... It might be worth staying in a hotel, there are quite a few on the island, the local buses run regularly a short walk from the venue. Hope you have fun.
  12. Any ideas what might go in the shop in the new block of flats by the station? It has been empty for months now :(
  13. Go to the top of the rockerfeller centre it has great views and you can book a time inadvance. Get bargains in Century 21 next to ground zero and eat at ruby fu's on times sq. yum.
  14. http://www.christie.com/search/brief/78/30410?1202416001 Got there in the end on this link! That is such a shame :'( Inside 72 has been around years. Does anyone know why its closing?
  15. the old red star in camberwell used to be open quite late and it looks like it is about to reopen...
  16. i was told a place called bar equal on honour oak road was open til about 4am. Just checked - it closes at 2. sorry
  17. That is such a shame, i thought the service was ok - bit french, and you had to double check your bill, but i liked the place. The food was nice, the inside was spacious and bright. The outisde space was also good in the summer. Are they part of the same chain as Le Chardon?
  18. For Gatwick you can get the train from East Dulwich to East Croydon then get the Gatwick express from there.
  19. Panther cars charge about ?35 020 8693 0101.
  20. Fear not, i think i am the only one so far to have a bad experience! you get free popadoms!
  21. I hope you have a better experience than me. I ordered on line from BBC a month or so ago and was very disappointed, i booked my 30 min slot which was an hour away as that was all that was available, and then had to wait another half hour on top of the hour and a half i had already waited, as they were running late. 2 hours later, despite me adding delivery instructions to find my house on the on line section they never passed this on the the delivery guy who called me about 3 times. I agree with blinder 999 i didnt like the popadoms, or the mango chutney. I went for a medium curry of some kind and it was bland beyond belief, my boyfriend went for a hot dish which he also found bland. oh and perhaps slightly over priced. I will stick to pistachio club.
