elaine if you read above, you may see the cause already identified.

wow being bitten by a dog is quite serious. what injuries did your child sustain - a dog bite will cause bruising, open cuts and puncture wounds. did you call the police after this attack, if so how did they follow-up after your child had been bitten.

Let's get dad on a bike back on this thread. I think this thread smells. Can anyone with any sense just imagine how many very frustrated leashed dogs would be walking about - all that pent-up energy from no exercise ? I think that would present more challenging events than currently exist today. I'll call dad on a bike out now as a charlatan. If there's a 'survey', please let's fill it in making these exact points very clear.

Moped mugging on East Dulwich Road by Goose Green

James, I'm interested in your comment about lead removal from petrol contributing to crime rates falling. Is that really a thing - I was not aware of that. -
hmmm... not sure about 'dogs run in packs', 'children at risk', wording seems overly keen on painting a picture which I just don't see (on 3x dog walks per day, for the last 3 years, in all places mentioned above and others). Dogs aren't blind, just running into people - there may be the odd collision but that's what happens when you mix dogs/people in parks (or people/cars on streets). BTW Nunhead Cemetery looks to me like the real people patrolling it are the dogwalkers (private and professional), I'm convinced their perpetual presence is a primary reason there is limited vandalism and other. more serious, misdemeanours infrequent. I don't think I'm being a negligent parent taking my 3 kids and older relatives there frequently, I don't see a dog danger to kids there at all. You can't just change everything around you to suit yourself when it's been working fairly well for decades, if you've recently moved to the area why wouldn't you just wait a couple of years to build-up an accurate picture to support your 'case'. I don't support this proposition of 'Dog Bronx' at all. dog poo - yes obviously it needs to be picked-up. dogs off leads - there will always be a few and wardens need to enforce daily and be able to escalate after repeated occurences.

One cause (I know cos I fixed a 2yr seemingly unsolvable niggle with it recently) that is possible, but by no means definitely the cause, is the kitchen (or other) mixer tap washer is eroded. This can cause shocking sounds in the pipes. When I looked into cost of ordering a new mixer tap ceramic washer specifically for my model, I just went and got a new tap. Guess what, problem gone. You could ask upstairs to work with you on it, bring them down to hear the noise, and once you've identified which device is causing it then fix / replace it. So that's one possible way out of this. ETA: if we turned on either shower or bathroom taps it would start the banging, which was caused by air being sucked in through the kitchen mixer tap due to the eroded ceramic washer allowing the draw of water on other water outlets to create that suction.

Sue - "Not if you play Pokemon Go" Didn't I bump into a certain lady one evening last week on the pavement bordering Goose Green playing that game on their mobile as they walked along...........? -
I feel more confident at 20mph (having now been doing it since it was imposed) that I've more time to react / stop against unexpected events, the outcome of an event will be less serious / damaging, other people on or near the road have more time to react to me and my vehicle, everyone is safer.
-
I'm all for the 20 mph speed limit in fact I think that it should be applied to all the roads in Southwarks jurisdiction however I do feel that on the main road that goes across the top of Sydenhnam towards Crystal Palace that signage should be clearer or more frequent signage and the reason is that there are constantly vehicles riding right up my back bumper when I'm trying to adhere to the stipulated 20mph.

Self-entitled bullshit to move next to a popular pub then expect the operation to change just for them. By that twisted logic every city pub in the land is in danger ! How can this even be a consideration for the Council ?!

A lot of decent points indeed. One question - what IS 'the look' or tell tale signs of middle or upperclass wannabe hipsters that HAVE ever experienced proper hard manual work ? That is, the look which those you observed on Saturday did not have ?

A box of fish fingers, eaten satisfactorily in August 2008 - probably you can let that one drop into recycling. A TV with 5yr guarantee, bought 12yrs ago - probably you can let that one drop into recycling. A jacket bought last week - probably hold on to that one in case something goes wrong with it as you'd expect a bit of wear from it.

TE44 - not challenging, just shocked at the figures and interested to find out more about this startling statistic. I've been in ED 27yrs so that's more than 1/4 million Londoners killed by air pollution in that period (presumably more, because air pollution was worse almost three decades ago ?). Considering that for only a few hundred cyclists killed on roads in London each year we're redesigning the street composition, I'm surprised that there's not more being done about air quality in London Town. You'd think it'd be a national (nay, International) emergency. I wonder why it's not, with such a huge death count ? Regarding Mr. Whippy, solar panels won't provide the energy needed to run a couple of large freezers and an ice cream dispenser.

It's an interesting one. I thought a several years ago there was a big push (if not by Govt, then by manufacturers but with support / no complaint from Govt) for diesel to be the engine type that car buyers opt for. Now there's to be penalties for those swayed in that direction. On the surface that seems a bit disengenuous.

DIY advice needed on coat hook wall attachment
KidKruger replied to louloulabelle's topic in The Lounge
loulou - you kindly gave me some canvas recently for an art project, if you're stuck with this issue of fitting the coat hooks PM me and I'll pop over and have a look at it for you. Perhaps I can solve / suggest a fix, I have a bit of DIY experience. -

could have been loose masonry i.e. the mortar between bricks if a n old/Victorian house. Could be holes drilled were wider than required for rawl plugs or drill bit 'played' a bit, not cleaving a 'clean' hole. Could be screws not long enough - many kits provide minimum possible length fittings and assume a 'perfect' installation scenario. -
I had a similar experince in Wiltshire a couple of years ago. The lady came round to view the job, which I talked through in great detail to which she nodded but took no written notes. We agreed a price per hour. She turned-up next day with a Polish (as was she) woman who spoke NO English and took her through the house to show (I thought) what needed to be done. The house had just been renovated and decorated and was fairly clean actually. The lady worked hard but the hoover she'd brought did not work, she asked if she could use a broom instead via sign language, I signed back that a vaccum is better for carpets. 2hrs later the lady's partner turned-up with a replacement vacuum, which did not work either, after another 2 hrs he returned with another vacuum which sort of worked (I think he'd taken one of the machines away and had a go at fixing it). After a full day the cleaner was about to pack up to leave (be collected by the lady) and I asked/signed if she'd please clean the kitchen worktops and scullery but she replied/signed that wasn't part of the job. Obviously I'd originally asked for this but there was no way of having the debate without the manager lady there. When they added up the bill they included the hours waiting for a hoover which I was amazed at and I didn't have enough cash on me for the ananticipated final total - the lady said she'd send her husband round that evening to collect the balance and I said it'd have to be tomorrow to which she got proper contrary. Next day the dude turns up and I told him I wasn't paying the balance becuase I'd been messed about, he threatened me and I called a mate out of the house who was visiting and invited the dude into the garden. He gave some (I assume) insults and buggered off. Total nightmare - couldn't have invented it.

Pooping dog on camera - do you know it or owner?
KidKruger replied to woodstock's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
"but im pretty f#cking sure its a lot easier if you just pick up your damn dog's sh!t as soon as he does it....." totally agreed. (as a dog owner) That applies to parks too. I try to build-up my 'dog poo karma' by picking-up the odd dog poo that's sat there 'unclaimed' in the park. There are so many to choose from unfortunately. One lady I gave her dog's poo in a doggy bag, having seen her big dog lay some serious cable right in front of her - but she was too busy 'talking dogs' with other owners to notice. I asked if she would kindly finish the job by taking the bag to a bin. Of course, she denied it was her dog's. -
You could stick a lintel in about 6-8ft up an remove brick below to create an alcove in which you can fit a light / power and perhaps cupboard or other use. I did this on basis that a small space where fireplace was is less useful than a bigger, lit, space. It's a bit messy to do but fun. And cheap.

Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting..
KidKruger replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
"messageRe: Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting.. new Posted by DulwichFox Today, 04:02PM I do not know if the Building has any 'Listed Status' if that is the correct terminology. If the Building were to have a 'Listed Status' or 'Listed Status' were to be applied for, it would be difficult to get a change of use and make the building difficult to sell. Just a thought.. DulwchFox" Foxy - my understanding is anyone can make an application for a building to be listed, any council's planning website will have links to forms for this. It is free I believe, unless you want it fast-tracked. I -
combi should do the trick, I think megaflow is what plumbers recommend for high pressure (by UK standards) shower flow ?
-
Some tradesmen charge more than others shocker.

Obviously though, a dog with a hair lip might actually 'mark', rather than 'bark'.
