there is a pool/snooker club on Rye Lane I think, someone mentioned it on a thread a few weeks ago when I was polling to see who wants to play pool locally.

is it illegal to save parking spaces?

Should the ED forum be just for people who live in East Dulwich?
KidKruger replied to Charlotte86's topic in The Lounge
Anyone should be able to use IMO. Some 75 year old guy left a note on a thread a few days ago, he'd Googled and found the OP about solar eclipses, he left a charming note from memories several decades ago. Buying / Selling - I've benefitTed both ways from non-SE22 dwellers. No reason why they shouldn't participate - check who you're dealing with and where they live ! Difficult to police anyway, it's WWW !!! -

Anyone used/using this network service ? They have an 'all you can eat' data / phone deal which sounds amazing. However Vodaphone tell me its all smoke and mirrors and once you've signed Three's contract you'll be stuck for 2 years, that Three cannot deliver the unlimited Internet access because they don't have the bandwidth to accommodate it - nor the network coverage. I haven't heard such damning comments from Three users myself though. Reviews on www are variable, from the long-distance lorry driver who says he's got countrywide access on his laptop via a dongle to stream sports day or night, to the disgruntled "I'm going back to Vodaphone" user claiming Three's phone signal won't even penetrate a building ! The whole thing's a gothic monstrosity. Any Three users around SE22 who can confirm that this postcode, central London and South coast are fine for phone and www access ? Or advise any other benefits / downsides? Thanks, KK

Sigariya, Kandy and it's temple (of the tooth ?), the Buddhist temples in caves near the village beginning with 'B'. I would have mentioned Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Galle and Matara, but they were bashed pretty bad and would be unrecognisable except maybe Galle. Also the elephant sanctuary is lovely, esp if you like taking photos. Also the botanical gardens in Colombo, one of the 'park keepers' will tout their knowledge of the park but are worth a go - first time I ever had fresh cinnamon. There's also a botanical gardens on road between Kandy and Colombo which is worth an afternoon. Crap snorkelling in summer on West coast.

There's a regular Goose (East Dulwich Folk Club) occurring in SE22, I think it's on tomorrow. Try the What's On board on this forum.

The fact that the benchmark for 'singing' is X Factor, is indeed a very sad sign of the times. I shall, however, retain my vast record collection - in the hope that the 'singing' caught on the acetate will one day again be considered 'up to standard'...

You can clear the concrete without having to penetrate the ground too deeply. Smash the concrete and rake it and any hardcore with a pick axe/fork. You don't need to dig right down into the ground. Metal detector is useless for gas pipes if you have a plastic (yellow) gas pipe !

Wanted to be a rock start but life got in the way?
KidKruger replied to Fenton's topic in The Lounge
Otta, venue TBC but date set, private festival, most music already sorted, but could squeeze the EDF band in if it fits all-round for everyone. -

I'm crap acoustic guitar player, crapper on 5-string banjo, crappy voice and crap harmonica player (though can do that by ear). Played at 12-bar and 100 Club nevertheless. Have some songs if you need some. So if you're running out of options feel free to shout me. Mainly follow American roots, punk and ska. Also I can give you a spot on 12 Dec as I'm running a band night then (not a bribe). -

KidKruger replied to KidKruger's topic in The Lounge

iPhone 3 upgrade to iPhone 4 - Good Experience ?
KidKruger replied to KidKruger's topic in The Lounge
Thanks Nette and others. I always wondered why when you synched you can't save your texts but I'm glad there's a way of saving them (albeit for direct porting to next iphone) by way of backup. Nevertheless - I'll start doing backup now I know it exists, cheers. -
iPhone 3 upgrade to iPhone 4 - Good Experience ?
KidKruger replied to KidKruger's topic in The Lounge
Oh, so there IS a way around the problem you encountered then - I just make sure I have a back-up first (which I presume is created just by doing a synch, right ?). Yes, clearly it doesn't solve your experience, sorry to hear of the nightmare you had, what a drag ! -
Dig that dish served in China (and Korea, I believe) where the octopus straddles the pile of noodles in the middle of the bowl and is still alive, tentacles moving and all. I'll settle for dumplings, thanks. ETA: Don't get me wrong, I am not saying I ever ate it !

Woodrot - try Silk Road in Camberwell, it cannot be classified as per your last comment as it's a different Chinese cuisine.

iPhone 3 upgrade to iPhone 4 - Good Experience ?
KidKruger replied to KidKruger's topic in The Lounge
OK so mixed experiences. This worries me slightly if it's possible to lose some or all of what's on existing handset. Any methods for ensuring back-up is not lost ? Perhaps a setting on iTunes for NOT deleting it ? -
Maybe it's so the disabled person can embed themselves in the park itself and then go through hassle of unpacking wheelchair, clambering into it etc, rather than having to do all that on the street or in the car park and then have to make the journey to/from the park areas by which time they may be exhausted depending on their disability ? I remember when driving was allowed for everyone, albeit slowly, so they all parked in the park itself.

This is a question about the technicalities of upgrading to iPhone 4, ie. getting all your stuff from old device to new one. Can I assume that all apps can be moved from one to t'uther via iTunes ? My questions are basic as you can see - any advice ?

yummumbums: "I've been with 3 network since they started and never had any problems with them until 6 months ago where coverage is so bad now i am losing the will to live as i get cut off on nearly every phone conversation i have grrrrrrrrr" I spoke with 3network earlier todayabout a potential switch of network, the guy asked for my postcode and said SE22 near the CPT/Great Exhibition pub is great. Perhaps he fed me a line, or you're in a different part of East Dulwich ? Anybody use 3 Network OK in ED ? Also - anyone moved to 3 Network and actually tried the 'all the data you can eat' service, sounds too good to be true. Any advice appreciated.

Tyson did pretty good against a man twice his age, but he got bossed in rounds 1 and 2 by the taxi driver. I think Tyson needs to get out in Europe now. I don't agree with his promoter that he'd destroy Povetkin. Eubanks was awesome, the guy he fought was no mug either - it was a bold match-up for him, certainly with no guaranteed win. His Dad is a showman and although he did most of the talking after the fight I don't believe he has anything other than the success of his son in mind, an amazing boxer as Christopher Livingstone was, along with his old trainer, is as good a guidance as any young boxer could ever hope to receive. With a few more fight suggested before the year's up, he's one to watch. !
