  1. No football or TV would be perfect actually, but I fear that'd be too high a hope. Folkie Mafia !! Love it. The Folk Father... The Long Good Folkday...
  2. I don't mean your post Otta BTW. Yeah I had a gander last night it's looking good inside, iblike what they've gone dnvlidong the outside area adjacent to the bus stop too.
  3. It's fair enough to have a preference that a specific night / event does not happen at a venue. However the comments about the folk club come across more like attacks on it. It hasn't been held at CPT for some time, so is a non-issue for that venue, especially now there is just the one bar area. But comments like it being a 'so-called' folk club are derogatory, suggesting it's some weak substitute for the real thing. I think there's a disgruntled other agenda at the heart of those comments, which is not being honestly represented by those posters.
  4. Isn't subletting the same as renting out your flat ? which you wouldn't be doing, you'd just be renting a room out whilst living there - right ? call the insurance company regarding cover, i don't think the policy will be void an dthe insurance company may be surprised youve even called.
  5. The so-called folk singing is now held at other locations such as the Mag tomorrow evening (so please don't be there). It appears to have been quite a so-called success as the threads on EDF testify. TracyLlew - what kind of so-called activities would you suggest are held at the new bar ? So-called trendy glib predictable piped music where no-one contributes to the evening ? And what so-called contributions will you be making yourself in providing entertainments locally ? If there's so-called events you don't like, just avoid them - you don't need to spoil it for others by recommending they're stopped.
  6. Day or night I say who is it and if it's no-one I know or need to speak with I don't open door. Makes them spill the beans quicker and you don't have to look 'em in the eye or commit at all. Elderly should try identifying before they open door.
  7. How DO you add / insert those YouTube links ??
  8. effectively a new local for me, so looking forward to checking it
  9. malumbu, huggers, bugsby cheers - will look into those this evening. all advice appreciated, will check all avenues..
  10. That's what I meant, what's the name... I loved the old glass / wood bar divider, but the opened-up bar area looks great. Strafe - yes the locals will be back in there, nowhere to hide now, I did appreciate the two bar setup in some ways..
  11. Well..?
  12. Maybe an EDF turnout for the opening or day close to it is in order.
  13. Thanks, really useful, that. Anyway, anyone know the deal with getting permission ?
  14. Has anybody been involved in planning one of these street parties ? How much red tape ?
  15. Huge - No unfortunately not swingers (or if it in they don't include me). Thought about Old Waiting Room, given it's not officially open and it's public and under renovation/improvements I sense too many hoops to jump through. Nash - Have left a message for Creative Foundation, thanks.
  16. I have placed this here rather than Local Issues section because I'm not necessarily after something in ED area, though will consider London. I am organising the 4th in a series of annual arts events which have previously been held in Australia (twice) and Bulgaria (last year). This year it's London/South East UK. A lot of people on EDF seem to have knowledge / contacts so I'm casting the net to see who you know and what they may have available. I need a location in the South East UK during 12/13 December with: Indoors Power Water Near parking 50-80 attendees capacity This is not a ticketed event so there'll be no profit made, some funds are available but ideally participation in the activities could form part of the transaction. If people are able to stay over it'd be useful, but that's a nice to have. If people can stay over kitchens would be useful so we can organise food, but again, it's a nice to have. To give context, previous locations have been a desert 40km from nearest town, woods in hills outside Melbourne, 56-bed hunting lodge in mountains. December we'll need somewhere indoors due to UK temperature, but I'm not looking to hire a hotel in UK as it costs too much ! Perfect would be a commercial/historic/tube station/agricultural premises we can take over for 2-3 days, set-up, perform, pack-up, clean-up and depart. The event will form part of a short film capturing the last 4 years' activities. Please PM if you have any leads or suggestions.
  17. Flappers: "might tattoo it to my forehead. " You could do, but when you're shopping or in conversation with strangers it could cause confusion ! Let's stick to the sandwich board plan..
  18. I've seen the exact same sign at (I think) Water Rats. Succinct and to the point !! Flappers - you need to stencil that on to a board for your gigs...
  19. Yeah Sue you should have told him to quiten-up or get Folked. I asked Bert Jansch to keep it down once at the 12 Bar when an earlier artist was playing before his spot. He was cool with it, even though I joked I'd talk all through his spot !
  20. Coupla pics from there
  21. I've sold items on the Forum and had mixed results in getting the figure sought, sometimes the item goes in an instant for requested sum, other times I have to keep reducing the asking price to even get a bite. And other times I get "silly offers". Thing is, as time goes on, and the stack of chairs remains blocking my hallway or there's nowhere to put the recrntly purchased piano because the snooker table hasn't sold, the "silly" offers become increasingly sensible offers. Sit on the offer a while and I promise you, as you repeatedly trip over the surplus items, the previously unthinkable prices offered you'll be grateful for. No need to pay eBay fees or post stuff, just sit at home and someone comes and picks it up from your home ! If you can't obtain the price you sought, swallow your pride and compromise or go elsewhere. If you go to market you'll get offers, its been like that for 1000s of years. People are entitled to try a "don't ask, don't get" policy. It's not your choice, it's theirs.
  22. Floating between LHW and CW needn't of course mean losing / gaining 25lbs each time you move. You could fight LHW at 175 and your CW contests at 180 or 190. If Enzo usually walks around at 190 then making LHW might be normal for him, as per most boxers. He's never been the most cut boxer anyway, at LHW he looked nice and lean, like a boxer should IMO.
  23. yes it's a huge difference 25lbs ! I think there are so many lighter divisions becuase 5lbs here or there makes a lot of difference to the lighter chaps. At (say) Cruiser and Heavy 10lbs difference may not be a huge disadvantage/advantage. Heavyweights can vary in stones between opponents, that always surprised me, basically anything over 200lbs goes !! from memory Lightweight 135, LWW 140, WW 147, LMW 154, MW 160, SMW 168, LHW 175, CW 200. the increments between divisions are greater as you go up through the weights.
  24. On Buncey's Boxing Hour Cleverly was just interviewed, he said he'd expect to fight Macca or Tavoris Cloud next, he'd prefer Cloud for the exposure and the IBF title he can add to his own belt. Clev's not moving to CW so I suspect BigMac is just floating between the weights picking-up what experiences he can, but from what I'm reading it looks like his world-levels aspirations are at LHW.
