  1. Follow the diversion signs, it's a small detour from A4. Did it twice over Xmas period, added like 15 mins to journey.
  2. "...a comfortable and safe environment, with higher pleasures invoked by arts and humanities...." Utter BS !
  3. Dunno but he did a bloody good job of staying up there in that wind !!
  4. Anybody know where in Peckham rye park said tree deposit / collection occurs ?
  5. Froch totally outclassed tonight. How two judges gave Froch 5 rounds is beyond me, probably a response to Khan's accusations last week, Carl at a stretch took 2 rounds. Gutsy Froch took a lot of hurt but couldn't do much about it, Ward extremely fast and extremely evasive - almost a perfect boxer.
  6. The injuries and fighters dropping out I see as just part of boxing, that's a regular occurrence isn't it ? The best remained to fight in the final, no protecting or clever matching to ensure an outcome. That alone merits the existence of the tournament, it's what sports should ultimately be - best v best. I think there may be another tourney, Light-Heavy or Welterweight. Only thing I'd have changed about this tournament is to have it 3-4 years earlier so Calzaghe could be rated once and for all.
  7. I read somewhere that Ward hasn't lost a fight since he was 13 yrs old. That's a formidable resume !! I think I'm gonna watch this tonight. It's one of the most worthy contests for ages, the whittling-down through the ranks to derive the 2x best Super Middleweights, the lack of doubt that the best are fighting the best, the removal of the perpetual bugbear of multi-belts fuzzying who's top dog. This is as good as it gets I reckon so I'll be looking on Virgin later to check the timing and cost.
  8. "You'd have to put Ward as a favourite over Froch given their respective performances against Kessler, but as they say... styles make fights. Hopefully Froch will put in a decent performance." I'd agree with that which is why I am surprised that Kessler says Froch wins this.
  9. I watched the Khan fight last night on YouTube, Khan may well have been avoiding the head of Peterson but that doesn't prove Peterson was trying to but him. Peterson obviously realised that if he continued to box at range he would keep on getting hit because Khan is too fast, he kept his head low on the way in to avoid being caught. Once inside, Khan's only answer was elbows, pushes, forcing Peterson's head down and head locks. Khan got a knockdown point in R1 which he didn't earn yet argues he was unfairly treated for his fouls. Khan has applied to the relevant boxing conmission to have the win reversed to his favour, he's overtly saying ref was bent. Not a word of praise for Peterson yet, as if Peterson had nowt to do with the win !! Maybe Khan has to ignore Peterson to strengthen his 'case' with the public and the commission.
  10. Carl Froch is up this weekend against Andre Ward shame it'll be on at stupid O'Clock. Culmination of a proper tournament with meaningful final. If you've followed it from the beginning you've seen some good boxing. What's your predictions ? In fact who do you WANT to win and who do you BELIEVE will win and when / how ? I want Froch but believe Ward on points as he's a mover, dirty inside and it's in USA.
  11. Peterson is a mug if he gives Khan the rematch (as alleged), he should defend his title against other contenders a while and make some cash, he's earned it. Khan slagged-off Washington DC after the contest saying what else could he expect from a City like that, bad form IMO, he needs to swallow his pride and give at least a tiny bit of credit to Peterson for his efforts !
  12. I think Chisora deserves a title fight more than Helenius based on performances from their contest, however at 15 fights versus 60 fights it seems a huge mismatch as Jeremy states. Kudos to Vitali for publicly stating it's clear that Chisora won the fight (unless he's picking Chisora because he's avoiding Helenius !). Khan - I will reserve judgement until I see the fight but if Khan pushed as I've read then penalise him. It's banned in the rules so he needs alignment. He's too cocky these days but an undoubted talent, he overlooked Peterson though.
  13. I'd ask them (all 3) what they suggest for their tastes or what they usually eat or have enjoyed previously at Xmas, then see if there's anything common they all like. If that failed I'd start an email chain with them all and 'facilitate' the discussion and progression to a mutually agreeable choice. Let them join in the process rather than you take on the hassle. Maybe next year (wherever they go, assuming they haven't run out of people to piss-off !) they'll be more flexible having seen the bind they put their host in.
  14. Sticky Rice has it's own method and best done with proper basket and steaming pot which are available on internet mail order for like ?16. IMO easiest of all the rices to cook, just needs a few hours soaking in front. When it's steaming you only need 20-25 mins, returning to it once to lift lid off basket and turn rice over.
  15. Seems like it's a money issue, heating is the side issue. have a talk about money, ahree a way to split he costs and apply that agreed method. ie. you'll share the service charge because you both live in the property. However there will be some times when you are benefitting from a warm abode (and appreciating it, having just come in form the bitter cold) but having chosen not to/been able to set the heating going - in these instances you need to consider whether a black/white split is reasonable (unless the radiator in your bedroom is set to off). It's a resource that costs so has to be discussed. Build a rota of when the heating is on and for how long and who benefits. One method could be get your flat mate to try a week under your idea of heating then you try your flat mate's approach - then agree where tweaks are necessary, or additional costs for the greater consumer.
  16. This sounds interesting, I'd be interested to learn about the significant conditions the patients suffer and what that's like for them to deal with in our community ie. paranoia and schizophrenia and coping with the condition locally (assuming the patinets are able to leave the premises on occasion).
  17. You make it as far as the stairs ? True Class.
  18. Whoever accused acm of EDL alignment - that's just a cheap shot. Feel free to be ashamed of yourself. Amazes me how freely some people think they can use offensive accusations like that. You wouldn't have the balls to say that face to face.
  19. Did anyone see the documentary on American diners last night ? One part of the programme focussed on the fact that in many parts of the country at one point black folks were still not allowed to eat in a diner (or an in-house, diner in a store like Woolworths). There was actually footage of a 'sit-in' by college students who ordered from their stools at the bar of the diner and were refused. After a while, local hoodlums (or maybe they were regular white Americans - god forbid) congregated and beat-up some of the black folks, I think the black woman was spared. The worst beating shown was a white supporter sat with them who was still being beaten after falling to the ground, cowering. The silent protestors maintained their non-violent stance and didn't respond - even when their peers were getting beaten. The police arrested the silent, peaceful protestors for public order offences, while the bruised-knuckled white fools walked-off. Makes me sick.
  20. The Martin Murray fight v Sturm wasn't as much a rip-off as Matthew Macklin a few months ago. Maybe the judges felt obliged to give the draw as it would have been another blatant German decision again against another UK fighter.
  21. Derek Chisora totally outboxes Robert Helenius and gets a loss ! Unbelievable judges decision. German-based contests serve only German promoters' ambitions. Helenius new he'd lost, he was more surprised than anyone when he was announced winner.
  22. In my view the woman was on something, whether illegal or prescribed I dont know. The way she chews her bottom lip reminded me of a few techno clubs, may have been a habitual trait but the perpetual ranting with it for me says high or possibly a lunatic.
