  1. Where does this bus service go to - Peckham Rye ? Or is there no trains all the way from ED to LB ? Perhaps Denmark Hill (then bus) is an alternative - I need to make this journey over the weekend.
  2. Yeah but the Jains don't bang on about it professing some higher knowledge than us.
  3. Pablo head to Brockwell next year you'll be sorted. Must be cool to have one of those top floor flats in the tower blocks over the road from Brockwell park..
  4. This damp and drizzly weather should make you all thankful you're not in a sun-parched desert, dying of thirst, the only cattle being dried-out husks on the roadside. You make me sick all of you with your fancy community website, imagine if you were on the moon - you wouldn't be so smug then would you. No.

Then why are they going off again tonight? Like someone else said in an earlier post, it's been going on since diwali, and really it isnt't fair to expect entire neighbourhoods to 'just grin an bear it'. Some kids will sleep through it, and a fair few will not, and repeated nights of not being able to get proper sleep can turn into weeks of not being able to sleep...agony for the kids, agony for the parents. Once a year? One looks forward to it. Once a year for 2 weeks? One does not. OK, YOU GOT ME UNDER TRADE DESCRIPTIONS, CUFF ME AND TAKE ME AWAY, IT WAS ME GUV. HONEST.
  6. WPAQ, via the internet of course.
  7. My kids saw fireworks last night and later were worried about being able to sleep, but I made sure they'd had a big day (Barbican matinee, Museum of London, park, then big dinner and fireworks) so regardless of what they thought they'd be out like a light. It's more realistic to manage what you can within the landscape than try to change the landscape via a Internet thread I find.
  8. George Groves did the job in double-quick time last night, 2 rounds. And Paul Smith was talking about a re-match with DeGale after beating Groves !! I think Groves needs to look to Europe now and focus on the fighters a step below world level to consolidate what he's got and thicken his ring smarts. He's only had a handful of contests as a pro to date and the supermiddleweight division is strong right now.
  9. When our OWN curve in life changes, guess what ? The rest of people carry on as ever ! The posters above have clearly never kept anybody awake or revelled into the early hours.
  10. 'since Friday'. So since, er, yesterday. Jeez that's stretching it a bit ain't it ?! Diwali is a separate event. Maybe just group them all together into the convenient category 'folks having a good time', and try banish the lot.
  11. Top marks for Ricky Burns, no doubt as to to the outcome. He took those early rounds straight off then the pressure was on Katsidis to come reclaim those rounds. Burns kept him off with the jab and for me pretty much bossed it after round 8. It's possible Katsidis is on way down but maybe RB is the talent we hope.
  12. ONCE a year it's like this, face up to it and make the most of the other 364 days. Don't you prefer it all happening one evening than several evenings ?
  13. Brockwell park was cracking this evening, didn't bother with the 'fun fair', just set down for the fireworks. Not sure about the piped music, but good display and glad there was a hole on the fence where a car had crashedsomee time ago - handy exit when gates were jammed.
  14. So James Toney got a hiding from Lebedev last night. He took some heavy shots and the fact that he is able to stay standing doesn't make it OK, especially at his age. Time to retire. And time for Lebedev to be matched against someone decent, maybe Danny Green or Antonio Tarver ?
  15. Marie81, of course both (or the only parent, when it's a bunch of Mums) parents are drinking. There obviously are exceptions but this is the norm. My point earlier was that children and alcohol environments is not a healthy mix - regardless of whether the parents are drinking, though they usually do, because that's WHY they're in the pub - to satisfy the need for alcohol. The parents would be there anyway, so the visit to the pub is not for or about the kids. My point is not anti-parent or anti-kid, it's pro-kid, it's about owning the welfare of your children.
  16. ...as opposed to one who likes 'to rim'.
  17. Bottom of pond life, feeds off the waste at bottom of the pond. Kind of a 'lower-end of the food-cycle' kinda thang.
  18. The 78 (and 42) encounter shocking waits on a morning to cross Tower Bridge and afterwards, before passing through Aldgate.
  19. 40 Bus goes to Aldgate, not Liverpool St. Aldgate is 7 min walk from LS. Train to LB then either: 149, 42 or 35 bus to LS or walk up to LS If you're getting the bus, it may be quicker to walk to South side of London Bridge itself and wait for your bus at the bus stop just before the river (outside Barrow Boy and Banker bar). The buses (ie. 149) leaving LB station get caught in shocking traffic trying to navigate the junction out to the bridge, esp in rush hour.
  20. Tarot are you stoned by any chance ?
  21. Boilers last 15-25 years often. Mine's currently 18.5 yrs. What an incredible coincidence that several properties have all suffered boiler failure, to the point where no heating is available, at the same time. I wonder what could have caused a collective failure like that, it's mystifying, verging on a phenomenon.
