  1. Kell Brook?s World title eliminator with Rafal Jackiewicz in Sheffield on Saturday night is a complete sell-out. I think it's being shown on Sky Sports 1 on Saturday, I'm hoping CPT will screen it from around 9pm (or whenever it starts). I believe he's from the same gym as Naseem Hamed was (Ingle ?). His style is certainly unorthodox and puts a lot of opponents off I expect. Kell's fighting an ex-European champion, a guy who's never been stopped in 48 fights, so a tough cookie. It'll be a good test. Kell want's world honours next but I think he should work on opponents just knocking on that door, to consolidate his experience, before stepping-up to the big boys. If he can get past Jackiewicz. Shout if you're gonna be there.
  2. I think it's all too easy to say what Sam 'should' have done. His terms of engagement won't include fistfighting. It was his choice and he's not to be criticised by us for what he decided to do. You cannot even guarantee that whatever you say you would/should do, you would actually carry out yourself. In a situation like that all the chit-chat goes out the window so let's not pin so much surity on the rights/wrongs. To get involved in an altercation like that, and then to perpetuate it in a full-on fight, takes guts IMO. The thief probably had been in fights before, which is more than most of us have experienced. To challenge an experienced fighter takes serious guts. It was Sam's choice but he had the balls to make the decision and stick with it, yes he came out worse but he didn't know that would be the case, he wasn't sacrificing himself, he thought he could detain the thief. Sam did what he felt was appropriate and I'd assume he didn't want to allow this theft out of pride in his job and his genuine belief that this kind of activity is plain unacceptable, not because of his desire to scrap some scallywag. To call Sam an idiot is extremely direspectful. And naive. Keyboard BS. I think we need an 'EDF hero of the month' award and this month's should surely go to Sam.
  3. Embrace it as chance of a lifetime. You can always come back but may not be able to recreate the opportunity. Children would enjoy the change it'd be exciting for them. UK not in a brilliant place right now - it may be very refreshing being somewhere positive and vibrant. Kids handle this kinda stuff fine. With modern comms and Skype there's really only hugs and babysitting that will be missed. Plus everyone will come see you there so get a big place.
  4. "Also Bert Jansch's first album, considering he was like 19 and all, and allegedly people starting reconsidering acoustic guitar as an instrument and how it could be played (so I read somewhere). Shame our days with Bert are drawing to a close." Darn it. Many a true word said. He died this morning aged 67, lung cancer so I'm told. Gutted.
  5. Counterpunch, left hook, spinning back kick and uraken - all obvious tools in laying wood floors. Nail punch was probably the correct term. Apologies.
  6. Only if it's South Indian or Sri Lankan cuisine.
  7. yeah use a counterpunch to sink the nails in a coupel of extra mm. Sometimes a guy will lay the floor with nails/floor brads, then go back over the entire floor using a counter punch. One thing, over time the odd nail will work it's way up and stick it's head out a mm or so. If you walk barefoot or in socks and actually catc the underneath of your toe/foot you'll get a nasty wound. So keep an eye open cos if you catch yourself on a nail you'll be minded to carpet the room immediately !
  8. My boy often says he'll one day marry his mate (which mate can vary weekly). It doesn't signify anything at all. It's not worth even having a conversation about with your boy about it IMO as your raising something that is literally nothing, no need for warnings, no need for being careful about anything. The only danger I can see so far is the awkwardness that may be instilled in the little chap about having to care what other people thing about him and his acceptability socially. Kids have enough to deal with on that level already as they grow up. I'd not raise anything, only time to is if problems of any nature actually arise and are mentioned by your boy. One of my nephews grew up behaving in many different ways and people in the family started talking about whether he was gay or not (though never with the lad himself). At 18 he surprised everyone by announcing he was gay. His Father and older brother disowned him (as he'd predicted they would) but he'd got himself a good place at University far away and had his sights set on starting a new life and exploring it well away from the constraints of the provincially-minded county we come from. I think my nephew has enough to deal with NOW (in respect of issues with his relationships with his family) without having been constantly warned as he grew-up about 'acting' 'gay' since being a little boy, and potentially building-up paranoia about who he is 'supposed' to be. On another note, at the age of your boy kids may not always be particularly switched-on to what gay actually means. My son of similar age to yours asked recently "because you wear pink trainers does that mean you're gay ?". I said well it doesn't mean that I am or am not gay, it doesn't mean anything at all, it's just a colour. I said what does gay mean ? He said he didn't know what it meant !! When I told him his Auntie and her female partner, another Auntie (who have 2x daughters) are gay (as an example of what gay could be) he said, "no they're not, they're just and " !!! Making sure that gay / non-gay is a non-issue everywhere surely means not raising it unless there's a reason to ?
  9. I'm not recommending blocking drains, just illsutrating one way to do it. I do point out the consequences of doing so in my opening sentence. Inspection chambers are not always at front of house. Mine and my neighbours are at the rear of our houses, for the entire block. If you have a small front yard you may find inspection chamber is at the back, often situated to ensure building an extension will be awkward/require the drains to be moved !
  10. Ginster if you were to block your drain yourself to flush out (pun sort of intended) the culprit, you would just block the channel coming INTO your inspection chamber. One way would be get 3-4 plastic bags one inside the other, pour quick drying cement in and tie top of bag leaving minimum air in. Then push into inlet channel. Do this in the early hours when least drain action likely. The channel will back sharpish and may p!ss off a lot of people and is not guaranteed to find nappy fiend. To remove the dried cement drill it out carefully without hammer-action setting enabled on your drill, taking care not to pierce drain pipes themselves. I'd you damage drains you got yourself a new problem.
  11. Shorty did you know the Clapp sisters who lived on CP road near CP tavern in one of the town houses opposite what's now a hairdressing trade supplier ? They moved out in the mid-eighties so I understand and went to separate retirement homes, both died within a week. They lived next door to Mr Cannon, a builder of Irish descent.
  12. After the first punch, a left hook, it appears Ortiz is looking at the ref. His head may be pointed in the ref's direction but I think that's because his head had just been punched in that direction by the hook. Ortiz's hands were down, he probably was already stunned and clearly didn't see the follow-up punch that closed the show. Even if he'd seen it, I don't think he was in a fit state to do anything about it. That first hook is what KO'd Hatton.
  13. Thanks to some pears kindly provided by Hesmall1 I made a lovely pie !
  14. Also Bert Jansch's first album, considering he was like 19 and all, and allegedly people starting reconsidering acoustic guitar as an instrument and how it could be played (so I read somewhere). Shame our days with Bert are drawing to a close.
  15. There's obviously TWO camps on this. You're either pro because 'its the hurt game', or you're against because it was ungentlemanly/not ethical. If you take the action and isolate it then IMO it's uncool to step on the manners which are understood in the squared circle. However, Mayweather was giving Ortiz fits, Ortiz couldn't handle that he wasn't able to pin Floyd down, so he did a blatant head-butt out of frustration. After a move like that I think reasoning/debate over the KO has to consider what had just happend to MW. He'd just been head-butted for chrissakes, by a fighter who KOs almost everyone he fights (using his fists though !). A dangerous man who if he catches you squarely can very likely switch you off for the evening. The guy butts you, then comes to you 3x times for you to accept his apology, the 3rd time he looks away for half a second, something to do with the ref. Ortiz has lost my respect and now he's looking away, out of his fighting stance, Yeah KO him. He should have protected himself and to have butted like that and then stand so close to MW thinking it's like being round his Mum's for tea, was seriously foolish. Ortiz was out of line. Attacking Mayweather for the KO is a distraction. People love to hate him, whatever MW had done, however he'd won the fight, he'd be slated for it.

  17. Thanks ianr, I get it now.
  18. I didn't get a leaflet but I got a shiny new blue wheelie bin to got with my existing green one and brown one. Could someone give me a brief summary of what I am meant put in the new blue bin,is it like cans/bottles/cardboard/newspapers ? Thanks, KK.
  19. Kid Galahad is the lad from Sheffield, maybe he'll try for English honours in next 9 months.
  20. Watched the contest fine on channel 5, no blank bits. They didn't have much footage to pad out the remaining time for the broadcast so they showed the entire fight again, did you not see that ? Fury has some OK moves, would like to see him v Helenius, thing is, Fury is still very hittable he sometimes forgets he's hanging his chin out there because he gets comfy with being out of reach because of his size. Chisora and Fritha have both proved on consecutive outings that Fury can be hit and both have had him almost out on his feet. Any worthy boxer like Povetkin, Helenius etc would have taken note of this. Two guys I'd like to see Fury fight are Alex Leapai and Travis 'Freight Train' Walker (separately, of course). Check out the contest between these two guys on YouTube some time ago and imagine how/if Fury would handle attacks of such ferocity. They then showed a couple of the undercard contests, of particular note was a Sheffield boxer from I think the Ingle gym who dispatched his opponent in R1 with first a right cross and later two devastating lefts to the body, reminds one of a young Prince Naseem Hamed. One to watch.
  21. I'd pursue trying to find out who the parents are to ensure they find out and have the chance to deal with it. What about the police - isn't there a bullying hotline ? I thought something like that was set-up a couple of years ago and includes non-physical bullying and intimidation.

I checked the system date -it was 2 years ahead just like this morning (my message above regarding sysdate didn't state the correct date, which was also 2013). I changed the system date to system date and rebooted. Now I can log on to EDF. Good call on the date - cos I checked it again on account of your suggestion. Thanks all. KK

Something was up with system clock earlier today, I noticed the date was 13/01/2011 on a file I modified. So I set it back to today's date. I think that was before I tried to access EDF via my PC.

Cleared cookies, deleted Internet files, deleted history (cache ?). Same issue - EDF doesn't say I'm logged on, even though I have logged in with no errors.
