RUMOUR: I have been called seperately with 2x 'rumours': 1. Thornton Heath Tesco's is being ransacked 2. Kids gathering in ED park ready for later Like i SAID TOTALLY UNSUBSTANTIATED.
-
Higster: "All those involved with starting fires, whether directly or indirectly should be charged with Attempted Murder." I agree. I hope [police consider such charges, however identifying the fire starter himself will be nigh impossible. The police DID I believe charge the occupants of a car which ran over 2 coppers last night on Fulton Rd with 'attempted murder', according to their website. Met charge suspected loooters with attempted murder

Basically the lads robbing people's mobile phones on Forest Hill Rd is the same thing, they are likely to get away with it, they line their pockets, they have no sense of respect for the people around them and the consequences for the victim (lost contacts and perosnal information) or how the person they are attacking may feel. They want something and they go and get it, they have a pocket full of phones, they don't NEED to do it, they know they're likely to get away with it, they won't get hurt - they know you're unlikely to fight back. Zero sense of working to achieve something, want everything, for free.
-
that's exactly it, even just sitting out in your front yard on a chair will help I reckon.
-
If there was a real chance of fighting last night I think a lot of them would have stayed at home. Anyway I'm near CPT so anyone wanting to man that area of CP Road and the junction, I'm game so PM off-line from here.
-
the kids may well kive iIN The area you're trying to block off. doesn't need to be confrontational. you don't need to stand in groups on street corners. don't wear combats or black. the kids just need to see grown-ups calmly outside their houses. if anything kicks off their could be a case for trying to block a road but I think the main thing is trying to make sure the kids pass through the neighbourhood realising there's loads of locals just hanging out all friendly like.

Josiehendrick "..to ignore the deeper issues will only lead to more severe problems down the line.." No-one is IGNORING The 'deeper issues' are they - they're commenting on looting activities rooted in base greed ? There are 2x sets of 'deeper issues' that I see: 1. Riots yesterday, deeper issues are general disrespect for society and greed from young kids who know they cannot be touched for what they do. THAT is an issue. 2. deprivation in society etc etc, very deep issue. But nothing to do with the riots. So, talking about deprivation etc has bugger all to do with the riots as one is NOT The reason for the other. The EXCUSE maybe, but not the reason. So cheap to politicise by using names like 'Tory'. Very easy way and low effort way to exist, just like the looters. I guess it's not surprising that the symapthisers have same capacity to detach themselves from any responsibility, ...it's all the Govts fault. FYI, looting in Stockholm will get you 10 years.

Why are so many people making excuses for the troublemakers ?? It's pathetic and is symptomatic of why the offenders believe they can get away with this behaviour, no-one will come down on them in a meaningful way. This was not about hardship or lack of prospects, of course if stopped by a reporter they will say they're being held back in life etc etc, it sounds more poetic than "well I never smashed a shop window before so I thought I'd give it a try". If life's a struggle you work harder, not go and steal half a dozen mobile phones and some tequila. These guys are doing it because they CAN. Because our civil authorities allow it and excuse it. Theresa May on TV saying "This behaviour is just not acceptable". Sounds great, doesn't it, such a warm feeling of security her words create. Also - I've already heard comments from people at work today that it was 'mainly blacks', what BS, even from the news coverage you can see that's far from the truth, in fact the opposite is true IMO. Three white lads walking past CPT last night shortly before Tescos ED got attacked, smart phones lighting up their faces, hoods firmly up, one of them carrying what looked like a tent bag stuffed with whatever they felt they needed to make their contribution. When I asked them if they were going to Peckham, and, if so why, they all answered differently and with different levels of surity in their voices. Just out for the crack obviously. I believe none of those in Peckham last night have ever had to struggle for anything, had to work really hard to achieve anything and ever had to worry about paying their rent or their mortgage. If they did, they would know they are ruining what someone else has bust their balls for. Look how many family businesses, personal livelihoods and homes have been destroyed. Conversely to what I've heard from some work colleagues today (about it being 'mainly black'), I believe most of the looters ('rioters' is much too generous a term for them) are white and will grow up resenting foreigners for 'stealing their jobs' while the foreigners they resent realise what opportunities there are in the UK and knuckle-down to try and improve their prospects. There may be hardship in UK but these lootings are not about hardship. Pathetic law and order system tying itself in knots to try and look nice while London towns get destroyed by the home-grown losers fed on welfare BS.

I heard on LBC that Turkish men on Stoke Newington Lane are guarding their businesses standing outside with baseball bats. They should give the UK some training in how not to be walked over.

Loz: "In case of a plane crash in a remote area, always eat the vegetarians first. Then, the airline meals." ....of course, you can spot the vegetarians amongst the dead, because they're the less fanciable ones !
-
Yes of course they are Tom, but there's laws against eating people, I think from memory the term coined for the pastime was 'cannibalism', I'm not sure what the law against it is called though I'm sure some bright spark here will have time to find the details on WWW. I haven't seen any laws saying don't eat (non-human) meat, though clearly if you get in charge things may change rapidly, so I'll be practicing making nut roast leading up to Christmas, just in case. If I did take your point literally, I don't think it'd go down well in court if I try to justify taking someone's leg and roasting it for tea by arguing, "..well it IS meat, sir" ! Tops. I wonder if we'd get 20 pages of comment on these boards if Franklins was serving human flesh ? Probably 5-6 pages I reckon.

Beware! Tea towel sellers in Ulverscroft Road area now .....

Not only that, the manner of these guys is overly aggressive. They don't need to intimidate you on your own doorstep and insult to when you decline their products. -
Aquarius Moon: "Are you saying that vegetarians are not as fanciable as meat eaters? Do we look different or something? Interesting comment, because if you do a bit of research, you will find that eating meat is actually bad for you. So if you go for a veggie partner, chances are, they will live longer! " So veggies live longer, with uglier partners. Not much of a consolation for missing-out on meat is it. If we're not supposed to eat animals, why are they made of meat ?

Firstly i'd get independemt advice as to th ereal cost of the repairs required. The work may need doing but are you (all) getting a fair price. Unless there's a leaseholder's fund for yo all to beneft from theyn I would expect the tradesmen/building company will want their money either as the work progresses (otherwise they're having to fork out up front for all the materials) or at the very latest, when all the work is done. Mgt companies are notorious for not getting best deals for the leaseholders, you may have a great one looking after you but it's worth asserting for yourselves, as a 'clutch' (?) of leaseholders, what the best deal really is and whether you can influence proceedings in your favour.

" I am going for the craic!! " ....."As are the speed daters ... I reckon." Subtle, yet delightfully coarse.

Or sign-up for some bukkaki.

try small claims court, though I believe you can't claim for court costs. Try Lambeth Court.

Doesn't do much for me I'm afraid.

Wow, the 414 Club, what a MESS could happen in there in the early hours, used to be a warm-up in Dogstar then 414 to notch it up a gear.

junction underhill road/barry road
KidKruger replied to Marlene's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That's exactly the problem, you have to creep out when visibility is restricted. It's not the case all the time, the last few mornings have actually been fine, but when large vehicles are parked nearby you simply cannot see so have to edge out and obviously your eyes are 5 feet behind the front of your car.. -
"dozy a'peth " Exactly what my Dad used/uses. Also used to use Spindleshanks (skinny legs) and Buster Crab too, not sure if they were so much a Northern thing, but my uncles up there used the same. Buster Crab was an actor I believe. When we had Sunday lunch, My Mum would serve a large platter of Yorkshire pudding with gravy, Dad would eat it, then the Sunday lunch would be served, with the separate round Yorkshire puddings of whcih we'd get one or two each. At my Uncles' houses it was the same. I thinkit was something traditional (and sexist) about the breadwinner keeping his strength up by being fed first/best, though not entirley sure. I sure as hell couldn't do that in my house, I have a small appetite you see..

Perhaps WomanofDulwich can safely assume that any recordings she makes will not land her in prison, especially if she uses them for personal fact checking i.e. no distribution without recorded party's permission.
