My Country's culture > your Country's culture.

Oh dear how weak, it's almost like DeLoittes using a client site to train-up their new intake for the year. Taking the p!ss.

"You can get 'cath kidston style' kitschy patterned type ones. " I'd rather not believe that's true, it's all too flashy for fly annihilation.. It's a bit like gas chambers with nice tiling.
-
Fly paper. Minimum effort and cheap. Admittedly not pretty tho.

I'm up for any fruit that's going spare, I'll make you a pie or something, whatever I bag, if it's veg then I'll knock up a curry for ya.

Our lot ?! Best not bite the hand that feeds - ?40K is a lot of cash to receive for a 'fair'..

I pick up channels via TuneIn Radio on iPhone. Then I stream this signal from iPhone via Bluetooth into a QED uPlay (bluetooth) receiver attached to a channel of my amplifier (I use the video channel as I've no fancy TV stuff). It works great. You have the advantage of using the phone as a channel index and remote control. You can play your iPod/iPhone music this way too. In bedroom I have a standalone Bluetooth speaker which picks up same signal, less volume but same selection of radio channels / record collection.

When you're on that starting line and set you're seriously pumped, anything can set you off, you're looking for ANY external stimulus to signal the start, you can't afford to miss the trigger when it goes off. I think it's natural to be overly reactive in these circumstances so the penalties are now unreasonable. They're talking now on BBC that Usain may have responded to an involuntary flinch by his team-mate in the adjacent lane, if this is the case then he responded naturally. If we want the benefit of such incredible performances and times then we can't impose such draconian DQs at the starting point. There were probably dozens of athletes who never made it to subsequent heats or other finals, Bolt bring just the most prominent.

Yes the coverage was pretty weak. I was surprised to learn that the crackdown on false starts (disqualifications) is driven by the need for the events schedule to run on time so it doesn't interfere with TV programming. You used to get a couple of chances with alas starts now there's none. Shame, as that's always been part of athletics.

Try the cross keys pub in Clerkenwell, had a few doos there, they're flexible on what you get up to and let you book the rooms upstairs complete with wired-in old stylee juke box.

If you're not in a hurry, you could try a method which worked for me by accident. I wrecked a pan similarly and couldn't get a satisfactory result, like you. So I stuck it in the garden until I could think of a solution, and forgot about it. 18 months or do later I came across it while trimming back a bush and thought I'd give it another go at cleaning, it'd be outside mainly over winters. Cleaned-up like brand new, I was amazed. The other method I think could work as a LAST resort is get some Spirits Of Salts from Dulwich DIY and pour that into pan. It'll sizzle probably as it's 37% Hydrochloric acid, be real careful with this stuff it doesn't take prisoners. Maybe research first on dodgy residues that can left behind, but my guess is after a Coyle of rinses the pan'll be fine to use, I'd a little tarnished (assuming it's non-stick).

My experience is it's literally a lottery with Virgin. When the service fails no-one really has a clue although they try to sound advised and informed. Visits can be scheduled and you take a half-day off work to see no-one knock on your door, then 5 mins before the scheduled end of day visit the 'engineer' calls to say he's been busy and can we do it next week.

obviously....

Your cat has probably been in and out of every cat flap on the block, seen other cats do the same and is amused at your efforts to train her. Chuck her out and let her figure it. She's seen your demo and understands the drill.

Cool it's open Im sorted then, thanks. Glad the place is getting usual.

I'd be interested to hear if Khan's is open again. Any info appreciated.

Showing our support for the ED community and London

I'm sure there are many models of 'civilian policing' which have been tried and tested which we could refer to for tips / guidance. -
Showing our support for the ED community and London
KidKruger replied to james84's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
"...we would be protecting our community and facing down these hoods in the first place" Well who wants to come out with me tonight and smack a few hoodies then, that'll show 'em who's boss around here. NOT. Damian H. On the night when the riots were in Peckham and some portion of it was heading down here towards ED I walked around ED a bit and noticed that it was deathly quiet, literally no-one around, now and again a lad in a hoodie would pass, then another, then another, often carrying something wrapped up in a bag or coat. I did ask a small bunch of lads at one point if they were going to Peckham and there answer was evasive, so probably they were headed there or ED Tescos. Point is, I was totally on my own there was zero chance of any coppers and if I'd ended-up exchanging bad words with anyone they could have come round later and done literally what they wanted. no police. no fire brigade (or perhaps belated attendance). There was no collective initiative to show a 'presence' in my area, which I would actually have preferred - if done calmly in a non-provocative way. So I turned my house lights off, put a couple of tools by the front door and ran a hosepipe from back garden down the hall to my front door. So I could take on a character or two if I had to plus hopefully make headway on any fire if it started. It doesn't feel nice to stay in and hope you're not hassled, but that's the only thing you can do in a situation like that, be ready to do what you can if it kicks off, to protect your people and your home (or your neighbours etc if necessary), if needs be. To slag-off an entire local population for not having somehow coordinated a 'defend our streets' campaign or having not coincidentally and individually decided to go make a stand locally is sort of erroneous. There was nothing to make a stand against and it's a very thin line between being seen to protect an area and being seen as out looking for some bother. People were very likely nervous and possibly have partners / families they do not want to leave. I think I understand what you're criticising but I do not understand what you are suggesting local people in ED should have done. You clearly find what people are saying is pathetic, but what do you propose should have / should be done ? -
bus lane between East Dulwich station and Sainsburys
KidKruger replied to duffy10's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
well it's flatter than the approach to the top of the hill, after the lights, which is what was probably meant. I usually go in the car lane and switch to left lane (bus lane) in last few yards, if no-one will let me turn into that lane I proceed up to the junction and try turning left there, it IS a bit of a pain the whole thing, for sure. People shooting up the bus lane in their cars has almost caused a collision with me, even though I indicate, folks zoom up there very fast, even if they're not turning into Sainsburys. I think the reason people do that is there is no camera, so no deterrent. -
Is RIOTS what it takes to knock "Your views on Foie Gras" off top spot ?? It's about to slip off the bottom of page 1. Thomas Mickle - you've been trumped mate ! Now DON'T go getting any ideas...

I think probably anywhere will be fine. CPT should be fine too, they've boarded up windows (just in case) but are still trading, sort of adds that seige accent to the whole place.
-
CPT now boarded up for precaution and Centra (Michaels) grocery closed - I was last customer. No sign of bovver though. If anything happens surely it'll be when dark.

*Bob* Listen to the voice of the politically disaffected - interviewed on the BBC world service [audioboo.fm] Staggering ignorance: "...yeah it's them innit, whoever it is, it's THEIR fault". Unreal. They've trashed and stolen from a shop. And don't know why. Solid politics there then.

Dulwich Park I was told. Not GG.
