Ok will do. I'm getting Security Alerts talking about security certificates and security certificate having expired or being not yet valid (when I try other sites than EDF).
-
OK Malware scan said zero infected. Will try what you said - what options do I need to clear cach and clear cookies ?
-
So does that mean never access EFF from PC again !?
-
Just tried eBay and there was a warning that sevurity certificate had expired. I had something similar on EDF earlier. I'll run Anti-Malware and see if this is something naughty. Thanks for advice so far. KK

Just tried with IE, what I think is Safari (Apple?) and Google Chrome. Exactly same outcome for each browser. Darn !

Hi Admin Problem logging on to EDF. On computer today I did a disk clean up using standard PC facility. now I cannot seem to log on, I go through the procedure and screen just goes back to how it was before I entered login details. Weird. No error msg. No confirmation msg. I want to post some items for sale but can't until this is resolved. From iPhone I am logged on (daren't log off now though in case I lose access completely), hence I'm writing this. So, it seems like something up with my connection via PC. Any suggestions !? I am non-tech BTW. Thanks, KK

Fair enough, sounds like you know which way to go then. All the best, KK.

Sounds like it'd be a nightmare to me, all you need us a couple of major hassles with tenants and it could become a burden. Just rent a flat. I had a new roof on 2 years ago and decided to move down the road for 2 months. Flat I rented was only for 6 months let, so I took it and used the opportunity to do other works in house that I'd been thinking of ie. plaster 4-storey hall, fit some windows, get floors up to move heating etc. Do that or complete works in certain part of house then live in that bit, cooking on camping stove if reqd, obviously easier with no kids.

50p tax rate - perception or impact
KidKruger replied to Marmora Man's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's a nice thought. I doubt anything will happen earlier than timetabled. Significant (as in large, organisation-wide) Mandatory and Regulatory changes rarely complete early and the completion date is unlikely to have been set without consultation with banks. If the banks were so keen to manage the reputational risk you allude to, they would not have collectively agreed on a date 7 (!) years hence, leaving us to speculate on local forums that in reality the banks will deliver much earlier. -

2019 seems overly generous as a timeline for this. Separating the two areas and embedding the risk assessment capability and reporting structures should be possible within 2-3 years. I wonder if there is a dependency on something else completing (ie. Legislation being passed) which explains the timeline being so long. I'd hoped the banks would be keen to demonstrate their keeness to change. Change within the banks of the above nature must also be reflected by changes within the regulatory body, where somebody (many people) is going to have to assess the output from banks and sign-off their submissions. This is no small change either, and may explain part of reason for generous timeline. -
Thing is, it may have been someone unrelated just pushing their trolley between both cars that were parked there..

Get into the habit of taking a quick photo of your car with cars Parked adjacent, takes about 10 seconds.

putting babies to sleep on their front

Many kids sleep on their fronts with their bum in the air, when you first see it you think it's peculiar, we probably did it ourselves though ! -

A swift kick to the hand holding the gun then a flying back-kick to the temple ? Than catching the gun before it lands, of course.

KidKruger replied to Marmora Man's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't think regulation is taking responsibility from the banks, conversely it's laying responsibility on the banks, but it has to be appropriate and it has to be governed, which is where currently the FSA are seen as being weak. -

I don't know if there is something in place for banks but in the insurance world (well, Europe at least) the Solvency II reporting obligations will go some way to ensuring that those types of organisations are (or say they are) adequately capitalised against minor, medium and major (like once every 200 yrs) incidents where the drawings on policies will need that money to be available and liquidisable (!). I would have thought there's something equivalent for banks, doesn't Basel II/III go some way in that respect ? -

My understanding is that banks / institutions lend cash to each other via the money markets at a rate better than the man on the street can obtain, this can then be lent on at a margin. These tranches of borrowing back-up (and in a large way form the basis of) the products available to the retail customers/borrowers at that time. Deposits may form part of the funding for a bank's lending but I don't think they are the 'only basis' for lending. Just my view / what i understood. -
I usually do a Bourbon Sour (below) this time of year, but some of the suggestions above for alternate sours are intruiging and I'll have to try making them. 2x measure Bourbon 1x measure lemon juice 2/3 measure Gomme syrup (sugar) 1/2 desert spoon egg white (optional) dash of Angostura bitters (optional) - shake on ice, pour on ice, short tumbler is about right for choice of glass.

just a word on two boxers I've been posting about previously and how they're faring. Firstly Robert Helenius, Finnish (I think), he beat Liakhovich a couple of weeks ago, I think that's his 3rd ex-world champ in a row. He's coming along very nicely, quite fast, very strong, needs to work on his defence a bit. He'll be getting more profile now and they may line him up with Povetkin, who's regarded as a 'champ in the making', as is RH. The other is Denis Lebedev, he's got one loss on his record, to Marco Huck, must be one ofthe most bent decisions ever made at a boxing match. If you watched the fight you'd realise. The post-fight press conference must have been really embarrassing for Huck, he knows he lost and so did everyone in that room. Proof that German contests are biased. Anyway, Lebedev is being lined-up for James Toney who, though around 43, is still a force to be reckoned with (though he was silly trying to take on the MMA guys). Toney regards this fight, if it happens, as a stepping stone to a Cruserweight title fight. I like Lebedev's good honest style, he KO'd Maccarinelli if I remember correctly. Huck should man-up and give Lebedev a re-match. That's it really, just fancied a boxing rant about two fighters I been following a while.

To black guy in a black car (Dunstans Road, 5/9/11 6:20am)

large07 - the fact that it was a Coke can is irrelevant (as you seem to say yourself), a missile was thrown as an act of aggression. The act of aggression was the misdemeanour. And if you're going to construe racism (or pretend to imply to do so, such a non-commital way to insult someone - grow a pair and either make the accusation or be big enough to restrain the silly impulse) based on what you've read, then you're doing exactly what you've 'accused' me of !! Doh !! Hyprocritseville, TN, here we come... -
Thanks red devil. Green light was flashing, turned everything off and I'm on-line, though somewhat intermittently. Cheers !

Anyone in ED getting Virgin BB right now ? My connection failed around 0815, can't get WiFi via iPhone / home server either so I guess it's my service connection. Called Virgin and while waiting a pre-recorded msg said Southwark and Lambeth are having issues which engineers are working on, so decided to wait a while since they appear to already be aware of some local issue.

To black guy in a black car (Dunstans Road, 5/9/11 6:20am)
KidKruger replied to NowAndHere's topic in The Lounge
I had a guy throw an empty Coke can at me from his car a few months ago as I crossed the side road by the garden centre next to ED train station. The guy was speeding into the side road and presumably felt I didn't scurry out of his way quick enough to make him feel big and tough. I believe he did it because I was white and he was black. I don't believe he would have done it if I was black. I believe this for the same reason that I believe every instance of (attempted) intimidation I've experienced in South London has been anti-white. I never had it from a white guy, so it's a natural conclusion. Or ridiciulous coincidence. Generally you know what's going on in a situation like that, it's based on what you've personally experienced, there's fools trying to 'disprove' what the OP felt. You can't, you weren't there. Next someone will be branding the OP racist, which ironically will back-up the OP's original point about what he suspected the perpetrator thought of him. -
"My Country's culture > your Country's culture." The point of this comment was highlighting that blatant dismissal of another peoples' culture is just plain ignorant. The comment made by OP about car cameras (or whatever it was) being the measure of a country's culture is just plain ridiculous. Give the vitriol and apparent hatred against what seems to be England/the English, the obvious question seems to be what in God's name are you doing here if it's all that bad (assuming the OP is in fact here in this culture-barren hell) ?
