Excuse me, I am not a loner. and My kids have to 'witness' their Yummy Daddy being oggled by the ladies. I'm sure it's a chore for them.
  2. Parkie - I suggest a .22 rifle for this kind of pest, or one of those Black Widow catapaults.
  3. I drove over it a few times last week and notices that on the far side of the hump when headed Northbound there's a LOT of scrape marks where cars have dragged their undercarriage off the hump. This seems a little strange because speeding cars would usually scrape on the first part of the hump they hit, not the far side as they leave the hump. Could it be that the design for this hump is too extreme and causing 'innocent' cars damage ? That whole pavement widening / hump thing is totally out of control IMO, buses have to virtually stop to pass, not just because of the hump but because of the narrowness of the road !!
  4. Book of Rules - Desmond Dekker

  6. yes I did miss out the Burns v Katsidis contest !! Oooops. Burns is great but I fear that his first contest at a new weight (LW) against one of the best in that division is a huge challenge. Katsidis is extremely strong at this weight and has campaigned there for some time - though I'm not sure what weight (catchweight ?) he fought Marquez at. Any Katsidis contest is a tear-up so it'll be a good fight. Katsidis demolished Mitchell very quickly and Mitchell is hard as nails and stopped John Murray (who is a monster). So I'd have to bet on Katsidis. Toney v Lebedev. I think Toney is a good boxer, if he beats Lebedev, on European soil, that will prove it. Lebedev is no mug and has fought good opposition. Toney may well take this to a points win. Lebedev deserves a rematch with Marco Huck before Huck moves up to HW. I can't see what Smith can bring to Groves TBH, but sometimes boxing maths doesn't work that way, so we'll find out tomorrow.
  7. Great weekend of boxing this coming weekend: Lucian Bute-Glen Johnson James Toney-Denis Lebedev Chris Arreola-Raphael Butler George Groves-Paul Smith Derek Chisora-Larry Olubamiwo heaven knows how you get to watch these contests but if you include the undercards it's a brill weeekend. So lot's of post weekend surfing on youtube to see how they went.
  8. *Pulau Nias, Indonesia. Renamed it island of liars after a week. *Cells at Chelsea police stn with knife wounds and refusing a doctor treat them (and somehow avoiding a search so they didn't find my 1/2 oz of red lebanese, even though I had a 12" pipe in rasta colours sticking out of breast pocket of my dinner jacket, weird). *Burmese military cells for being caught camping alone in area controlled by the Mon National Liberation Army. *On a plan from Dacca, Bangladesh to Rangoon when a fight between 30-40 drunk Indians/Burmese broke out, was sure we were all gonna die that flight. At Rangoon the army came on board and were less than subtle in their resolution of the situation. *Bob Dylan concert at Brixton Acadamy about 5 years ago when the man didn't even pick-up his guitar, sang like my cat being shampooed and even tried to 'dance'. *Stepping onto a street in Aldershot when an orange VW Beetle should have known I wasn't looking. *Court for drink-driving when I'd gone to get my bag from my car and 2 guys in the car park looking for a lift decided to force me to drive them across Berkshire. I got a split face and lost a tooth, pulled-in at a gas station and told attendant to call the police. 1 year ban.
  9. Empty Cot In The Bunkhouse Tonight - Rosalie Sorrels
  10. Mint Juleps this evening.
  11. What's your monumental unfinished project ? One of mine is 15 years ago digging out and pouring foundations 3ft deep for an extension I never built (yet). It's just covered in patio. I took a week off work so lost a week's earnings at the time and bust my chops bigstyle to complete the footings. It took some digging and the effort to carry so much cement (50kg bags) and sand through to the back almost broke mine. People still say have I finished the 'extension' yet. Bastads. I wonder if my most significant project is the portfolio of unfinished projects I have accomplished.
  12. The attitude towards alcohol in UK tends more towards it being a tool for getting drunk, rather than a liquid to complement a meal or conversation - it's the reason for being out. Because of that in my view pubs are not where kids should be - this is not 'the continent' and kids running around a pub here does not create a 'continental feel'. Alcohol changes behaviour and some of these behaviours kids could do without experiencing until they get to college years. Apart from visits to for meals, I am against children in pubs, not for purposes of my own comfort but out of care for the little ones. Its' dissapointing to see how far parents will go to defend their 'right' to carry on their alcohol consumption with their children in tow. It doesn't matter what's legal. It's plain wrong taking this drug and involving kids. Alcoholism in UK is massive, to the point where the understanding of what an alcoholic is, is underestimated. If you've been an alcoholic before having kids then you'll be one after they're born. Dress it up how you like, but please, spare the kids.
  13. Yeah I agree, the belt wasn't really Won or Lost by either boxer so they should start again see who gets the belt. It's ridiculous that punters will have paid twice to see the eventual result, I'd have been angry to have paid like $50-60 for that in the US !! One for the weekend... Nonito Donaire is fighting this weekend I believe, good Filipino boxer, extremely fluid in the ring. I'd like to see him and Rendall Munroe (who fights sometimes before Xmas) if Rendall gets another chance at a world title attempt.
  14. "Counted them all out and counted them back again" is actually a Falklands coverage quote I believe. May have been used again for Iraq but credit due to the event I understand it was first used..
  15. He was a naughty man.
  16. I watched the clip on youtube, to make an accurate assessment we need slo-mo. I didn't think Hopkins climbed on Dawson's back. If you lean on someone you're taking away their legs, especially as these guys are 175lbs which is a proper weight on your back, Dawson must have thought he's being leaned-on and decided to get rid of the weight on him. The throw was illegal IMO, regardless of why it was done. If the reason it was done was a foul then punish the foul. Certainly no case for a TKO IMO.
  17. Thing about Toney is he IS a great boxer. He's always had conditioning (appearance) issues but has boxed circles around some decent accomplished boxers. Eubanks and Benn were sh!t scared of him he called them pussies on international TV they said nowt in return. Lebedev for me has not been beaten, however Roy Jones tagged him a couple of times. So he can be touched (as can most boxers outside of maybe Mayweather..), but has a solid chin at 200lbs. Toney's MMA thing was just hyped trash wasn't it. On the flip side, Kimbo Slice an ex street/cage type fighter has switched to boxing and first 2x contests finished in R1 (against punchbags tho). Jeremy - how would you call the Nov 4th contest ?
  18. Thanks to ACM for resolving my internet issues yesterday evening, I could not have sussed it without that help. Cheers, KK
  19. James Toney is fighting Denis Lebedev in Russia on Saturday 4th Nov. I think it's a WBA eliminator. Toney apparently is in best shape he's been in for a decade. I think Lebedev is a too good for him at this late age in Toney's career (43). Toney was an amazing boxer and may well have too much ring smarts for Lebedev, but I doubt it. Lebedev is unbeaten for a reason (I don't include the Marco Huck contest as a loss, on purpose). It's probably one of the few contests where an older fighter is participating that has some genuine interest.
  20. No, I disagree Tarot. I think Memorial involves being in the place sometimes where an event happened and deaths/casualties arose. ie. The spot where Yvonne Fletcher was shot dead by the dickhead in the Libyan embassy ie. The spot where Stephen Lawrence was attacked by the 5 men who still laugh at the law. It's not morbid at all, just like the memorials on the battlefields around the country/world, it's thought provoking and respectful. Not morbid at all. In Western society we spend to much effort avoiding (the advent of) death. I always thought there should be a memorial on corner of North Cross and Lordship, where I understand a V2 rocket took out dozens of buildings and killed like 40 people. Surely THAT is memorial-worthy. I'd say so. To say it's morbid is to say songs and poems about murders and injustices is morbid. Strange Fruit, Hiram Hubbard, Emmett Till, all remind us of stuff all too easy to forget and ignore.
  21. Yes but there is the MuggerRepel App, which you can use to scare away those nasty Muggers.
  22. The website (or maybe the app) was covered on BBC London news this evening. Public polled seemed on average seemed indifferent. If you use buses and have a smart phone it a godsend surely !!
  23. Pakistanis had their name shortened, but it didn't comprise of 'ie', just the 'i' after the 'k'. It was (is in some places) a collective term including India, Bangladesh, and, for some abusers of the term, folks of African origin. The only reason a meat-eater would fear a vegeterian would be if they thought the campaign in their postcode was going to remove their preferred cuts from local restaurants, I reckon. As in foie gras..
  24. Ted, what were 'rude meat eaters' saying that was rude ? genuine question - I must have missed something. Regarding the pork fat (theoretically) in the 'home-style cabbage', if you can't taste it or see it and animals weren't specifically killed as an ingredient for it, isn't it ethically OK to eat ? Especially if you can't taste the fat ?
  25. One of mine had a ball hit her in the face not too long ago while on a swing at GG playground, it came from the footie area. The ball wasn't kicked 'at' my child I'm sure, it just comes with the territory where there's shared use overall for the facility. But balls played by older kids within the play area is not on. Those children in OP's post were rude and OTT, they behave that way because there are several of them and they don't want to be seen to back down. You could have enlisted support from other parents but that may be difficult given the 'tunnel vision' that some of them seem to have, ie. they only 'see' thing that concern them. I There were some school kids stood at a bus stop on the South Circular near College Rd a coupel of months ago who had a leather football which they were throwing over their heads, behind them, into the road, for kicks. They just waited until the ball was knocked/rolled to one side of the road then did it again, and again. It hit my windscreen, they all had their backs to me while they were doing this, to feign innocence. I parked on College Rd and walked round corner to the bus stop and forcibly removed the ball from the lad holding it at the time, they followed me and threatened me but never got their ball back. I'd hope they think twice next time, it was a nice ball. My lad loves it.
