  1. Shaggy I wrote exactly what I meant. If I'm breaking the law I will have to rethink my approach. My understanding has been that it's not illegal to record what you experience and conversations you have, but what IS illegal is the sharing / distribution with/to other parties. I'll do my won research and see (how near prison I've been).
  2. Haworth Moor. I camped for 3 days in a little field enclosure a couple of hundred yards behind the bronte house ruin. I left my solo tent there and went off for long hikes and returned to the untouched tent, very quiet at night apart from the wind and (what are probably) grouse. 'Kaylai' and 'spice' are the words my older relation sstill use as a collective noun for Sweets. When I was a kid I'd go to the chemist for a block of hard liqourice. smash it to bits with a hammer and stick it in an empty 1.5 litre pop bottle and fill up with hot water, leave it a coupleof days and hey presto - liqourice water ! My gran had dripping bread every night for supper, mind you she dies at 66 ! Castle Hill - I think some Indian dudes bought he old pub at the top and turend it into a restaurant or something, with out the correct permissions. I believe it caused an outcry and it was bulldozed. Standedge - one of the places on the pennien way where you just have to stop for a breather. Kipped there a couple of times in a survival blanket just for the crack. Malham and Gordale are great as it the limestone pavement (and view down from it) and Penn-y-Ghent and the Ribble valley. Top county basically. My patch is Huddersfiled, mainly around Paddock, but also Bradley, Heckmondwike, Newsome and Marsden.
  3. Big custard tarts, kaylai, liquorice root to chew on, dripping bread for supper, Lions sports mixtures, Ben Shaws, The Moors, Standedge, Castle Hill, these things signify my area of Yorkshire to me.
  4. The main issue for me is the tall vehicles regularly parked near the junction. If it's regular cars parked I can see something of the approaching traffic (either through the windows of the parked vehicle or over the roofs) as I'm fairly tall myself.
  5. "Being a poor driver is not an excuse for not being able to negotiate tricky junctions I'm afraid." Pointlessly inflammatory and point-scoring comment. As are some other comments on this thread. My driving > Your driving, kinda BS. Drivers edging out of that junction onto Barry Rd are no 'poorer' in ability than a blind person feeling his way down the street. If you can't see you CAN'T SEE. Der.
  6. What Pickle said, I use that junction daily and visibility is reduced to sometimes 40ft due to vans or tall vehicles parked near junction, cars coming down Barry could still hit me at perfectly legal speeds. I have to inch out and still get dirty looks from drivers for doing so, but there's no other way at that junction. I used to use Sylvester Rd junction but that seems to get less respect from drivers as it's not a crossroads. Shocking junction.
  7. Medium - because murder (single or mass), is in itself not proof of insanity. It's admittedly a convenient categorisation, but, I fear, not an automatic conclusion one can draw.
  8. I haven't seen evidence that he's insane, strong beliefs and a desire to act on them clearly though. I'm surprised that Norway allegedly has a maximum jail term of 21 years, meaning thus guy will be out in his mid-fifties if he gets the full term. I'd suggest his crime warrants a rest of life sentence.
  9. Middle lane drivers don't force you to undertake, that's your choice and is, I believe, illegal. And I do it myself, usually timed for when the middle-lane lemon is being overtaken by a car in the fast lane also. Sometimes they realise they're clogging up the road, but yes often they're totally oblivious. From my observations recently it's either unconfident/new/foreign drivers (ie. not used to the rules here) or it's people busy texting or surfing on their smartphones.
  10. Looks like Fury was the man on the night, Chisora was reduced to barging his way in to get close and let go with wild looping shots to reach Fury's chin. Fury was wobbled, maybe a couple of times, but he kept his head and even seemed to be having a bit of a laugh with friends at ringside towards the end of the fight.
  11. You'll only find out for sure what the demand is by opening the studio. You could do some market research, stop locals on street etc etc. I am not a fan of tattoos but I think there are many many people who DO have them and maybe 'collect' them. One thing that occurs to me is that if ED seems to be an 'untattood' area then surely it's ripe for your art ?! Don't you want people with space left on their skin for your tattoos ?! I'd forget renting a shop on Lordship Lane (unless it's something like the old basement premises that was John's records shop, next door to Palmerston). Rents will be far too high IMO. You don't need shop frontage do you - a clear sign and some decent leafleting perhaps could fix you in the locality ? I won't be going under the needle but look forward to seeing your established parlour still there in years to come. Take the doubters with a pinch of salt, do your research and go for it if you're convinced it's a runner. Maybe check where nearest alternative studios are and what kind of competition you'll have..
  12. Ok so you wouldn't date either of them Jeremy.. But who do you think will WIN !!!!
  13. WHO WINS? Fury or Chisora and why ? I think it's genuine 50/50, I rate Chisora's boxing over Fury's but Fury's got 8 inches in height advantage and probably same in reach, Fury's extra stone in weight shouldn't make too much difference, except maybe in clinches. Both have 14-0 records. Still novices in the scheme of things really. I guess Chisora wins but only because he was lined-up for Klits and Fury wasn't (and because Fury concedes he's 'not ready yet'). BTW: Dereck Chisora v Tyson Fury is on Channel 5 tomorrow at (I think) 10pm, not sure if there's a card before 10pm that will be televised.
  14. Laughing: "..what all of you have done to her .." Am I missing something here ? I haven't done anything to anybody ! Watch yourself with the broad brush approach. And stop talking in riddles, if you've got something to say just say it directly so we can all understand. Tempted to think this is some kind of auto-generated gobbledegook.
  15. There was an interesting article on Eubanks on ESB a few weeks ago... Remembering the career of one Christopher Livingstone Eubank
  16. Yes I think these days the art of failure is ignored, the fact that it is even possible to fail seems sometimes to be overlooked, as if everything can or should ONLY lead to 'SUCCESS'. You can build many successes in your head without having to appear to outwardly 'achieve' anything at all. Start with little things and accept that life is hard.
  17. It really doesn't matter who's the 'best boxer in Britain' to be honest. The whole thing is subjective, split by weight and depends ultimately on peoples' own preferences. Froch would beat up Khan so who's the best boxer. Bruno could probably even now beat up Pacquiao so who's the best boxer. Doesn't make sense. One thing that interests me about Zab Judah is his trainer who was an amazing boxer, with almost supernatural talents. Pernel Whittaker. Won't be staying-up for it though. I do recommend anyone who hasn't seen the Mitchell/Murray fight to check it on YouTube, though.
  18. I haven't quite put my finger on why the fight hasn't intrigued me more, maybe deep down I think at this stage another Roach match-up is a foregone conclusion, but then Maidana was that close to KOing Khan. Dunno. But last weeks Murray/Mitchel contest and Burns/Cook contest were of more interest to me. I'd even adopted the mindset of wondering whether there's any decent contests on this weekend.
  19. *Bob* "South London must still have several hundred indentikit southern fried chicken outlets serving beak which has never seen daylight sitting on legs which have never walked, you have to ask (as a campaigner) where your energies might be better spent, rather than fretting about a couple of pounds of FG served here and there on the weekend. " Good point, in terms of numbers of birds' welfare that may be improved. Perhaps Thomas realises that the EDF is an easier target than protesting outside Chicken Cottage et al, where he'd have to go because likely most customers there don't surf EDF...
  20. sambless - you may well have a point, in general. However, in this instance, with these particular sellers, I agree with the tone of the thread, these guys were basically draipsing the area and trying to intimidate folks into parting with their money, slightly above doorstep mugging IMO. They have no concept of trying to deliver a service and were extremely heavy handed. I decided not to answer the door having heard the commotion and insults laid on my neighbour who declined a pack of overpriced badly made teatowels thrust in her face by an arrogant twat. Menacing locals is what was happening last night and the people on this thread witnessed it.
  21. My morals for choosing food > Your morals for choosing food
  22. Is there a vegetarian equivalent ?
  23. The 'pleasure' the bullies get is seeing your intimidation and reluctance to do anything, your hesitancy in addressing them for fear in what they may do since there's so many of them. When you walk off and leave them with the message that it's safe to do it again to someone else - that's how they get their pleasure. They do not extract pleasure from being confronted because that puts them in the position where they have to do something, which clearly they don't really want to do because if they wanted to attack or fight straight-off why would they hassle and hassle and hassle people, each time msissing out on the opportunity of 'pleasure' because people are generally too polite/ scared to react. These guys never do this one-on-one, because they've no-one to hide behind. After intimidating people on the street you can progress to basic robbing because you've figured the general level of reaction and fright you can cause just by blurting nonsense or idle threats at people. Easy targets basically.
  24. Couldn't have put it better myself.
  25. woooaaaa... respect !! Gulp.
