I really do wonder why the Klit bros did not / do not fight Valuev, I'm not sure if he's been active since the Haye defeat. Perhaps having always fought smaller men, the brothers don't fancy a guy with height, reach and weight advantage.
-
WBA - really, I didn't know that, very strange (based on how I thought the organisations worked), I thought that you had to be a 'member' of a belt's organisation to challenge for it. "Probably starring alongside Jason Statham in The Transporter 7." You're joking right. I saw something on BBC website saying that Calzaghe is going to be in some film, haven't read the detail but I did wonder what kind of film that would be too..
-
I've always been amazed at how the Klitschkos have not been obliged to fight one another, they're both highly ranked by all major belts and must surely be in the mandatory list as challengers for any belts they do not hold, this proves the best don't fight the best. You can't have a family monopoly on a weight division in Boxing, it's peverse and unequitable. If it was tennis, athletics you'd have no issue in this respect. The fact that's it's boxing isn't an excuse, the sport was always about fighting the opponent, so no point complaining I can't fight my brother when you get to the top. I think Haye will retire, there's nowhere left at HW. I shudder at what film roles he'll be chasing but he should concentrate on that now, I presume it'll be Arnie-type films, but he really needs to lose the goatee, a moustache perhaps but not that goatee..

I think a rematch would generate less interest than if Vlad fought somebody new, though Lord knows who that might be. Haye's activity did not warrant a rematch, it was not close, it was not a controversial decision that needs to be redressed. Also, after the grief given to Klit bros by Haye, it would be a good final trump card from them to say no rematch, they screw him in terms of HW world championship aspirations, for good. So he'll be forced to retire. What else can Haye do, all the belts are held by Klistchkos. Unless Haye changes weight he can't GET a world title before October retirement date. Haye could fight someone at HW but it'd be a money fight, not a (world) title fight Sweet revenge for the Klitschkos if they turn their backs on him, I would if I was them, all this decapitation stuff was childish.

Hey, yeah my mailbox is loaded it seems, someone else mentioned that recently, will sort it soon. I was in front bar and neighbour was there too, plus got talking to a guy at bar (though he turned out to be a foul-mouthed racist unfortunately). Haye never really got in the fight. It's a good win for Vlad to have on his CV. I had a bet on Vlad winning in RD12 regardless of how at 1/20 odds, so I'm quids up ! Before contest Haye said he wants Vlad fighting fit with no excuses on the day, both athletes to be in tip-top condition, then after losing blames his broken toe !! Heavyweight scene is looking grim now, the Klit bros don't fight so it's Snoresville, TN, at heavy now. Super middle and light heavy is one area with more interest now..

Oh dear.. 'Haye has a punchers chance...'

I WANT Haye to win but I have bet in the work sweepstakes on Klitschko in RD12 (KO). Why ? I think Vlad is ready for Haye, who has Haye fought no-one at heavyweight, Vlad said months ago he will KO Haye but not until R12 - until then he will inflict round after round of punishment to Haye for the insults against the Klitschkos. If Vlad really meant what he said and CAN control the fight, then that's what he'll (allegedly) try and do.

Yeah that rings a bell, maybe he was trading a crafty 1/4 in the pocket of each pair of jeans...

Yeah I remember Fosters, the guy was a little to keen to measure the inside leg for my taste, never thought I needed my inner thighs squeezed to get a pair of Lee's on ! There used to be a guy on NorthCross Road near barry road, he would set up a couple of tressle tables and sell 2nd hand stuff outside a couple of closed down little shops opposite the Chinese takewaway. My bedroom cupboard door, bathroom taps, various door handles and an old 1968 Rudge bicycle come from that gent, he used to wear a little sailor cap and had a white beard.

I used to live in Boston, my girlfriend at the time was from Vermont and her Father had his own mountain, they had a nice pad up on that hill, her Dad had shown her and her sisters/brothers how to shoot a gun, where the gun was and seperately in the house where the ammo was. He'd told them that if they have the chance to ready the gun against an intruder that they never let the intruder closer than the length of the room they're in at the time, as soon as he tries to get closer they must aim at body and shoot. But for the ideal outcome he'd instructed them to tell the intruder to turn around and face the wall, then to approach within 6-8ft and tell intruder to turn around slowly or they'll fire, then to shoot the intruder in the face when he has turned around. My girlfriend said the reason she'd been told to do this was that in VT you could be sued by the intruder for injuries (no guarantee that you would, but there was a definite possibility) but intruders killed from the front fitted the acceptable conditions for self defense at the time. I do wonder whether the laws will be watered down as you alluded, however I heard a quote from Cameraon saying that an old lady who picks up a knife and stabs the assailant or the Dad who attacks the intruder with a poker would not be charged, but you cannot round up your mates and go round the intruder's house and beat him up after the fact.

Surprised there's been no thread on this yet. I'm pleased to read that at last the homeowner has the right to protect his house and family rather than being afraid of / being persecuted for trying to exercise such a response. This concerns the cases where the burglar gets hurt or killed and suddenly the homeowner / tenant is the baddie. This will in reality affect very few people because most of us would rather cower in a room with the door locked and call the police, waiting for the intruder to leave. And fair play to that, too. But for those who have been convicted for attacking or defending against intruders, this is a welcome change to the law. I think there's something primal about having an intruder in your 'cave', it's a pschologically difficult situation for most victims, especially when it's 0400 and you've just been awoken. Just like intimidation on the street, people shouldn't have the freedom to cause you fear for your health, life, family or possessions. I think if you invading someone's living space with bad intentions you need to know that actually you are risking YOUR health and YOUR life, because the owner may tenderise you with his baseball bat in self defense, with consent of the courts, as no offence is now (or soon, when made law) being committed. I doubt if I'd have the guts to face an intruder, but to those with the spunk, about bloody time they can apprehend intruders and protect as they see fit.

Was in CPT last night, guvnor reckons main contest will be on at 10-10.30pm. I'll be there around 9pm.

Every genre we dislike will probably have something, some example song which we'd really like, that doesn't make the genre any better than we originally thought, it just shows there's probably good in every genre. Which we know already. But we're not all going to spend our time searching through comparatively 'low return' genres in the hope of finding the track or band which will convert us. There just isn't time, especially when you get past teenybop years. I luckily have friends that filter stuff for me and lend me good music (in their opinion) and I can make up my own mind, meanwhile I have half a dozen genres which I'm still feverishly pursuing and where I find most of my musical satisfaction.
-
I can't stand: (modern R & B ) dubstep hip-hop heavy metal ...but I've TRIED and tried. If it don't flow, let it go. You don't make a decision what music to like or dislike, it's just the way it is.

First labour might take a couple of days Otta so if your wife has been in labour for anything less than a day and a half by Sat PM then it's a safe bet you can pop over and watch the contest, maybe even a fair bit of the undercard too. Regardless, you must continue the male culture of rubbish Fathers who know not how to contribute around the household, after all, it's been like that for years.
-
> Otta - Assuming his wife doesn't go in to labour early! Not sure of the relevance Otta, it's obvious this match has been building up for two or more years, doesn't your wife follow the sporting headlines? This sort of occasion does not come around very often !!
-
So we got: Jeremy Jah Otta

david_carnell "Given we have a Brit fighting a German-based Ukranian, what time will the fight be on for the American audience to watch at a sensible hour?" I think most of the interest in the contest will be on THIS side of the pond. Americans will have to tune-in mid-afternoon if they want to see it, or there may be a delayed showing of the contest for anyone there that's interested.

If Haye gets the KO I reckon it'll be first half of fight. I can see Vlad weakening Haye with the jab, slowing Haye down and taking away his legs a bit with hugs and leaning. Then it's a stamina-fest until either someone goes weak and gets hurt or it runs to points. What's exciting about this is we actually cannot predict as confidently as previously we could in haye OR Vlad contests. One thing though, Vlad is not a rubbish boxer and he's been consistently dealing with big men for years, unlike Haye. Then of course there is cuts to think about, if the fight runs on. I expect the local boxers wil be at CPT to watch the contest, be interesting to hear their views on the outcome too. It was last round that Haye rocked Valuev, he said it was like hitting a big rock and it almost broke his hand.
-
Yeah I saw the Valuev contest at CPT too, it was a reasonable time, the Germans don't do their headline fight late, general it's like 9pm their time, after a few bands, good food and a coupleof warm-up bouts. I reckon I'll get there 9pm to catch some of the undercard, so see you there Jeremy. What's the reckoning on the outcome then folks ? I'm guessing it actually will go the distance with two exhausted fighters, then Kiltschko inevitably gets the decision.
-
Matthew Macklin didn't get the decision on the Middleweight title fight against Felix Sturm at the weekend, maybe because it was in Germany and their decisions can be bent. Kell Brook did a lovely job on the tricky Lovemore N'Dou, a man that Saul Alvarez could not stop. However, who's gonna be watching the Haye v Klitschko contest on Saturday at CPT ??

People still take acid, there's a bloke over in Camberwell been making his own for years, it's liquid form and he pipettes it onto blotting paper just before ingestion.
