yeah but few (not enough) republicans are being vocal and I think the VP has to initiate, hence Pelosi threatening to start impeachment proceedings. Realistically, I think they're scared to use amendment25 and there's some complexity (clause4) which would cause loads of delay/obstacles.

"so it is just not true to argue that they are prejudicing Palestinians per se." ? That was the question.
-
yeah just like Bob Buzzard and Steven Taylor..

Meanwhile back in America most senators and commentators criticise the president while leaving him sat there in office. Even Kayleigh Macaney (sp.) made an appearance to condemn the actions 'on behalf of the entire White House', though whether she did that as 'press secretary', an 'independent commentator', or the 'campaign advisor', remains unclear this time ! Based on everyone's responses so far I'm guessing nothing will change, Trump will do whatever he wants to do next because no-one will stop him, they'll all just try to forget the whole episode when he leaves office, and the next BLM march will get smashed to bits as the police show they can mobilise 'when necessary'.
-
Probably because (a) protestors were white, and (b) if the Capitol cops weren?t actually cops they?d be amongst the crowd of protestors breaking in. i.e. Looking after your own Would?ve been a different story for a BLM protest.

I?m a massive Trump fan !!
-
Blah - unfortunately, I think Trump had and has a complete ?understanding of the significance of what his words at that DC rally caused?. It?s why he said those words, no doubt. I think Trump hates the American Govt structures and the establishment. He wants to piss all over it and burn it down at the same time (probably a challenge in literal terms !). None of it serves him anymore so damn it, destroy what?s there to be destroyed. I think there?s more to come IF his enablers continue to do just that, bend over to any and all demands and facilitate further harm to the US.

Wasn?t the Drum run by (at least, for a while) by Cooper, who later set-up the Dogfather Hotdog stall ?

The only action against Trump has been by social media orgs withdrawing access for a few hours. The tinsel-haired twot should be dragged-out now and taken to jail, hopefully with a ?medical emergency? on the way.
-
I don?t think the fact that many people thought ?sod it, he?s not following Covid rules so why should I ?? means they blindly followed DC?s behaviour like lemmings, nor used it as an excuse. I think many people felt let down and their belligerence kicked-in, which is entirely predictable.

These people are Trumpists before they are Republicans, possibly they weren?t at the start but they are now. So they?re idiots. Breaking through police cordons = idiots. Storming the levels outside Capitol building = idiots. Gaining entry to Capitol building = idiots. Compromising the Capitol security = idiots. Accessing the senate floor and causing adjournment of formal electoral proceedings = idiots. malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Link to the storming of the Bastille > > https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-5555507 > 4 > > John L you can't just brand these people idiots. > Perhaps have some appreciation of the bigger > picture, Trump toxicity, polarisation of the > country, media bias etc. > > It would be like branding leavers as idiots. Oh > wait a second.......

It?s good that there are so many Trump flags, because forever it?ll be impossible to separate this event from the outgoing President and his dog-whistle politics.
-
That should be an oxymoron !
-
Trump must be absolutely loving this. A couple of inflammatory tweets and this could get nasty.
-
Yep. I?m really underlining that the furore over ?who wins? Georgia is therefore a bit moot, in terms of meaningful control. Trump needs to come out and make a statement now to those idiots who?ve stormed the Capitol building. They?ll only listen to him.

Let?s not forget how lucky we are that the universe actually started and the planets aligned with the sun the way they did and that Earth had oxygen and a mild gravitational field and that water was delivered by asteroids and that we are lucky enough to exist even though 98.8% of species that ever existed are extinct etc..

After winning these two seats (if that even happens), it?ll be a 50/50 House from what I understand with VP Harris having deciding-vote power. Unfortunately, due to the majorities required (and, you?d have to suspect after Republican behaviours this last few months) it will be exceeding difficult to push change through. So the Biden administration may be hugely crippled in its ability to achieve as much as it intends. For example, the ?Dirty Dozen? digging their heels in. Complete disaster for the US 😭

...And the announcement of a THIRD lockdown...?! There even wasn?t a First lockdown. Those temporary restrictions last year weren?t even called a ?lockdown? until weeks after they ended, when it was convenient for Govt to present their actions as decisive, considered and effective.

TheCat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ...Will Boris/gove and co be secure enough in > themselves to not feel that appointing someone > external is a sign of govt weakness?... And from the Govt that?s just it, their no.1 priority is re-election and how their decisions may ?look?. Unfortunately their decisions since last Spring don?t ?look? good, do they ? They?ve spent too much time concentrating on keeping too many people on their side, rather than face the pandemic as the challenge it is. A spineless Govt and a belligerent population is a dangerous combo indeed, look at the numbers.

malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ...things seem so much worse in the UK due to the new variant... Actually, ?things are so much worse due to the? belligerence of the British public, lack of border controls and weak and confused response by the Govt. The virus is here. How it affects us is down to our behaviours, it?s not something been done TO us. We own how this goes down, ie. like going to pubs. Get it ?

Almost a year after the horse has bolted. The Govt priority is not the nation?s health !

ha ha - I used to drive the campervan in, park by one of the big grass areas, open the big sliding door, get the kettle on, play frisbee, cook a fry-up or a curry, and spend the entire day basically in/out of my home from home then headed out just before the gates closed !

I think the one next to Barclays was called 97 or 92 or something, I think it?s name was the actual building no. on LL.

If you want veggie and don?t mind Indian food, I recommend this fine lady. She doesn?t use garlic or onion (or possibly other ingredients) due to her particular branch of Hinduism, but you can fix that yourself, as I do. https://www.manjulaskitchen.com/
