Gala festival in Peckham Rye park
KidKruger replied to DoctorM's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
it takes a long time to set-up for a festival or event like this, there needs to be contingency in case of mishaps and the site needs to be secured in time to assure successful set-up. Is my guess why it's 12 days. "I wouldn't mind if they closed the park the night before the festival or even the day before" I'm sure you wouldn't mind, but that is not possible in any practical real-world scenario. -
What TAD said !

And what is really really sad is people pissing their lives away believing in this bullshit.
-
No, not trying to ridicule anyone. But I won?t encourage belief in religion by sugar-coating my responses when discussing it. I find it very hard to tolerate religion, not because I?m not tolerant but because it?s bullshit. There is no obligation on me to humour such bullshit and all the problems it causes. The sooner people realise it is bullshit, the sooner we can move on to something more productive. Same with unicorns, although I?ll allow kids the belief. Regarding which areas of human advancement have been achieved, if you want to think I mean that includes sexual exploitation or destruction of the environment that?s up to you. But I suggest that wouldn?t be a sensible assumption. You?re just trying to pick holes and find fault. There is no God. You?ve been told. At this advanced (in some respects only, obvs) stage of human development there is still a huge proportion of civilisation believing in a big Ju-Ju man in the sky. Astounding. And regressive.

I think you may be wrong on the first point, pk.

Baker wasn't being racist. That would be professional suicide and if he wanted to leave the BBC / threaten his broadcasting career he could do so without having to cause a stir and potentially offending people. He was being consistent with his previous mocking of privilege / using monkeys as caricatures. But the BBC (massively pro-royal) will not be seen to allow commentary which could be (construed as) disrespectful of the royals and they have made this clear to all by sacking Baker. Looking for offence is an industry these days and this one was easy pickings for those seeking to find it. Personally, I think its a bit OTT to sack him, but it's their organisation and they've done what they see fit.

Nice to hear a bit of good news as a side story !!

A 20mph restriction makes roads for drivers and pedestrians safer.

Yeah I remember how Sainsbury?s devastated Lordship Lane. Or at least the grocers, fishmongers and butchers. -

Well if you don?t know ZT, best not speculate, in case you come across as the same kind of (hypocritical) prick yourself ! -

No angst ZT, just cancelling-out unnecessary noise. Albeit eloquently. Instead of gobbing-off at posters, why not actually read the thread instead and you?ll maybe see I?ve made a (?serious?, that?s how you like it, right ?!) comment. -
Goose Green councillors - how can we help?

Well said, Rocket. The people in the community are just resources to be milked by the council, CPZ is a planned revenue earner and manipulation (of approach, of statistics, of conclusion) is the method by which the council intend to enforce it. -

Oh, wind it in ZT. You didn?t get a joke, made out you?re an Einstein able to understand anything - then flounced when we didn?t all fall to your feet slathering you with platitudes because you allege you have some or other qualification! I think there?s plenty qualifed folks on this forum that don?t feel the need to wave their alleged academic credentials in the air just to imply that any humour they don?t get must be faulty because they?re soooooo clever. Now it?s straight into Personal Insultsville, TN ? (I?ll explain later) As for threads staying serious and on topic... since when was that a thing (apart from when you wanna reflect from your sense of humour bypass, which definitely was a successful procedure !). Please, repost in a mature, no-nonsense style, just to appear at least consistent and convincing. -

Aaah, there we have it. The old, "I didn't get it so it can't be actually funny, and also it's childish because I only get grown-up jokes" line. -
shall we narrow this down to canine variety ? It may help focus responses appropriately.

So let me get this right - anyone holding a Cambridge degree will always be able to grasp tongue-in-cheek humour ? Because that?s what those university degrees cover. Govt cabinet is full of Oxford/Cambridge simpletons isn?t it ?! -

That's right, just brush it off as playful car colour signalling. This is how it all starts you know. -

It?s ridiculous isn?t it. You just gotta drive safe and legal and let the fast-lane lemons do their stupid thing, the stunts they pull don?t leave room for accident avoidance so it?s a catastrophe waiting to happen unfortunately. -

Rockets that sounds an awful (misrepresentation) mess, no way it could be a useful community event if it happened as described ! -
Just don't piss on the sauna rocks, a really foul steam results (so I'm told). You'll gain no admirers.
