  1. That would make a huge difference, but they'd lose the rent on that property wouldn't they ? At that would amount to putting customers above profit. So unlikely at best I'd expect !
  2. Well. If it's not something you would do yourself and you cannot discern WHY anyone would do this, it's clearly illegal and should be reported to the authorities (possibly all of them). If the culprit was wearing shorts and a singlet, consider this may just be cover for something more 'sinister'.
  3. Good idea DR, but looks like he doesn't use it. As I can't set him up on it even though he's in my contacts.
  4. I've been in touch with Adonirum over last few months and recently (since July, when he also last used EDF) he seems to have fallen off the radar. I am interested whether anyone on EDF knows him personally and can advise his well being status. Any info appreciated. I do have his personal no. too but no answer / no reply to texts.
  5. wonder if it could be a mini lintel protecting something underneath. if you know where your drainage runs you may be able to exclude the concrete slab from being related to that. can you get to the side of it and trying levering it up with a pitchfork / iron bar ? 25x25x10cm shouldn't be too heavy to at least budge.

    Tiling

as long as your wall is flat (check it with a straight edge) it's straightforward to get a basic job done. If your ceiling is not perfectly horizontal you may get some drift in tile cuts at top of wall (assuming you want tiles to meet the ceiling), same with floor/worktop. I'd check the area you want to cover, choose your tiles (or proposed tile size) so you can figure exactly how you'll lay them - and check youtube for tips.
  7. yes we heard those warzone-esque bangs, shat the dog up bigstyle. Unfortunately it's the time of year and it's legal !
  8. 'And for what reason would a bloke make a bonfire on his own at 4am?' To keep warm I expect. Cut the guy a break, we all stare into bonfires don't we ?
  9. water for sale ?5 per bucket.
  10. Whet servicing is required on solar panels ? Are there any moving parts ? Is the technology in it's infancy to the point where servicing of a static device is actually required ?
  11. beej, PM me if you get it and I'll pop round for a nice fat bifta.
  12. vinyl you can sell to the user on here called 'timwed'.
  13. Because it ticks the box of appearing to engage the affected population by those wishing to implement the policy.
  14. It?s all down to time of day for me. If I?m heading up t?North it?ll be to see the rellies, so I?ll head straight-up edgeware rd leaving SE22 at 0500. Quickest I did was 35mins (and that was in an old 1974 type II).
  15. That flat should be reduced in price to account for repeated repairs that will be necessary (though it?ll be worked into service charges), if not the fact that purchaser will not be getting 100% of what they paid for - a chunk will be laying on the pavement !
  16. Didn?t someone say earlier in this thread that people should just chill-out and show understanding of the RM?s teething problems in moving the sorting office function to Peckham !!!!! ?Chill-out? guys, it?s only your letters, parcels, credit cards, huge chunks of your day wasted queuing, re-delivery requests ignored and time wasted waiting at home for same. ?Relax?.
  17. The sale of sorting office was never about RM customers and probably all about asset-stripping the property portfolio.
  18. I?m glad its not me only, let?s start a self-help group to get over this once and for all. (Notice the ?missing? apostrophe ? Impressive, huh ?!?)
  19. Same here, I can't see it being legalised in UK. Unless the projected cash inflow to GovUK would entice their greed. Otherwise I don't see it ever happening. I don't agree with drug legalisation anyway.
  20. "We don't yet know, do we, to what extent the local problems may have been just transitional? Or, if they've been more fundamental, how easily and quickly they can be overcome? In either case, I'd suggest giving it a little more time before coming to any firm conclusions." Who cares what the reason is ? That's like saying that it's the diners' responsibility to deal with and make allowances for the cock-ups at a new restaurant or a restaurant that is undergoing transition, regardless that they've paid for the meal with their hard-earned money. There's always a reason, but when you're waiting on a decent service it's all sounding a bit blah blah blah. I don't know what conditions would make it OK to have to spend repeated visits and hours of one's personal time per parcel, especially when RM may not have even attempted to deliver it to you in the first place !
  21. It's a private company now and should be avoided just like any private concern that cannot deliver (not intended) it's services that have been paid for. Problem is they have a monopoly (although diminishing by the year) with their infrastructure and customer base.
  22. thanks nxjen - that's actually really what happened.
  23. OK OK well I'll watch my it's v its from now on. (DF - watch what I'm doing here) Shame on me as I went to grammar school !
  24. edcam: weeeeell, the 'hi-jacked' was a quote (yes, I KNOW, quoted things should have quotes !!). Sue: I'm not inclined to agree I'm afraid. It's denotes ownership, in my sentence. "It's course" (the course belonging to the thread). Keep at it though....!
  25. Disgusting thing to have to endure. It pains me even in the street, why is it even allowed in public ?!
