  1. Agreed. Renting to one family is far simpler in my experience.
  2. well good luck with the appeal, keep us posted.
  3. Authorities have turned renting into an impractical (in some cases) nightmare. I have a house with a gas Aga (hot water, heating and cooking) which I rent out and the council a couple of years ago told me I would need to install an electronic controller upstairs so occupants can control heating from upstairs, instead of having to turn the heating control dial on side of Aga downstairs (as had worked fine for all owners / tenants since 1973, when Aga installed). Council said it was a 'health hazard' because if someone was poorly they would not be able to control the heating from upstairs ! I found tenants and asked them to sign an acknowledgement of the 'health hazard' and moved them in. Council tried to insist they move out. Tenants complained to Council and told them not to be dafty asses, after which Council dropped-it ! Jaw-droppingly pointless procedural BS.
  4. If the dropped-kerb is marked with the white line, I doubt there's any point in appealing. If there was no marking painted on road, you could perhaps speak with property owner and ask if they can confirm to you in writing they do not use the thoroughfare so you can include in your appeal.
  5. It smells of soon there will soon be a long list of things we pay for in addition to council tax, things which previously were covered BY council tax. The obvious question remaining WHAT does council tax actually cover, if we're eventually paying additionally for schools, street cleaning, police, parks maintenance, council wages, hospitals, etc.
  6. My 11yr old got some henna at a market in Yorkshire. She used it to make a large pattern on her leg which looked great. She also did a big one on the back of my hand. Both of our patterns started to sting after some time and when we applied cold water too wash them off it stung even more my daughter was in tears and we had to very carefully remove the hardened Henna. Turns out we were using black henna. Basically don?t use black henna!
  7. Not much help but I?d say just sit down and think about your preferences, then look for shades off the colour charts in a paint shop or. Dulwich DIY (assuming you can get masonry paint mixed-up, else you may be constrained)
  8. Isn?t there a person in the area that can represent the residents? wishes ?
  9. Thanks Gumshoe. I have until June to trim the shrubs and pave the lawn.
  10. ?We believe it is fairer that only those using the service contribute towards the running of it.? In which case why not reduce the Council tax cost for those not using the brown bin and maintain the cost for those who are using the brown bin, surely the existing council tax already covers the cost of brown bin usage does it not ?
  11. You need to expect that kind of tone and sentiment when people are being pissed on and they realise it.
  12. From when does this charge start - anyone know ? (Apols if I?ve missed that info above)
  13. The consultation is a tick-boxing exercise, those responsible for designing and implementing this should be ashamed of themselves, deceit of the very people they pretend to represent.
  14. Abe: ?What would be least disruptive to the vast majority of residents who do not a CPZ would be simply to implement a CPZ in those streets that want it.? But of course that would only provide Southwark with a fraction of the income they have decided they actually want - by milking the (always) planned area. Predatory pricks.
  15. Does anybody know if Park Lane and the route from Vauxhall to Edgeware is exempt from the ULEZ charge or not? This is the case I believe for congestion so I was wondering if it is the same for ULEZ.
  16. I?m sure Saucy already glad to be opening a restaurant in this area
  17. The on-line searchable resource is your friend, I?m afraid.
  18. I used to fly to Zurich and back every week from City, there were no excessive delays on that route in my experience.
  19. Sorry to hear about this - we lost our cat same way last summer. I just wanted to balance above comments because not everyone who runs over a cat is reckless, speeding or aware of the mishap / choosing to ignore it. The fact a cat is called or injured doesn?t automatically mean the driver was reckless. I saw a fox run over recently on CP Rd, the car was doing maybe 10mph and probably had their stereo on - which will be why they probably didn?t hear the poor creature howling like a banshee after it?s pelvis got crushed.
  20. For balance re: Surma, the curry houses all have their off days, but for me it?s been a reliable / friendly venue for many years.
  21. Why not ask them why - may be a reason(s) that makes you think twice about going elsewhere.
  22. they're probably thinking you asked for an assessment of costs and you got it, but they're pushed for resource to start debating the figure now. They have to pay a contractor for the works I guess, which won't be cheap. Basically is it worth the 4500 yes or no.

A large part of why Y2K appeared to be a non-issue is because we had (and made use of) years to prepare for it and validate processes/systems beforehand.
  24. Got banned from the one on The Cut some years ago, for popping out to get some Daddies sauce when we?d been served and I realised they didn?t have any ! ?Coming round here poshing-up our food, f**k off !?
