  1. When I was young and so much younger than today, my bastard uncle informed me that the vapour trails left by planes were caused by the pilot leaning out of the window with a paint brush and daubing the sky. This was fine until some time later I was with a group of boys from the flats and decided to share this piece of physics with them. I can still hear the howls of derision and the cries of "Who told you that you prat"? I made up my mind never to accept another five bob from nunky when he visited, but when he next proffered the dosh I forgave him, which I think was magnanimous in one so young.
  2. Oh I just noticed the time, it's over now. I'd stop where you are then.
  3. Does the DJKQ boudoir have a TV? If not you need to get up and watch Diagnosis Murder. Today someone gets the plague, so not to be missed.
  4. I recall a while back stopping there at an ungodly hour three or more sheets TTW when and elderly chap at the top of the stairs offered me a drink while I waited for my chicken 'bab (he might have been the owner). Any way I had a slate roof and probably enjoyed it. Decent of him I thought.
  5. I don't know why they don't just go and live in Russia if that's how they feel.
  6. And 'in a trice' also rolls off the tongue in a very satisfying fashion. Go on try it.

Edited because expats post makes it irrelevant.

  14. Ah, that's better. If anyone's looking to make a call from the 'phone box opposite Lambeth Town Hall... Well, all I'm saying is, you'll be doing it pavement horizontal, you get me? Seen?
  15. No. And no again. The country's all right for three and a half days, but after that the the smell of cow sh!t and the sound of yokels begins to grate. And as for b@stard horse b@stards...I'll gymkhana you, you hoors. Anyway good luck to them. After all the deal as I understand it is that they grow our vegetables and rear our meat, while we in our urban conurbations ensure they don't have to pay extortionate amounts for their utilities. Oizey doizey doh, everyone's a winnah!
  16. Ain't That A Kick In The Head - Dean Martin
  17. Oh bother. DO we reckon JR's not sincere then? Does this mean my observations about pasta playing an important role in establishing American-Italian Mafia based films and TV series as significant genre will not reach a wider audience? Motherf*cker! I'm off out to find a telephone box to tear down.
  18. Scampi Fries are little crunchy pillows of ersatz fish and lemon flavourings, they might be corn, they might be anything for all I know, I've never been arsed enough to look. But when enmouthed and bitten into one can insert the tip of one's tongue into the inner shell and feel a sensuous smoothness that is most pleasing. I doubt the pricipal ingredients have ever been near briny waters or indeed grove, but them's tasty and that's a fact Jack!
  19. For 'Europe' read Eater81's fevered imagination new person, there is of course some crime, some grime and times they are a changin'. But it's got all you seem to want and perhaps a bit more, no tube link but Brixton's only a 20-25 minute bus journey most days so that's all right then. Actually I'm not sure I want an underground station, I reckon it might encourage riff-raff to do what-not as they might please. Though a tram might be nice. And of course a Wimpy Bar.
