  1. To use TFL planner succesfully you have to have quite a good knowledge of routes beforehand, to know when it is talking rubbish!
  2. Hear, hear
  3. AED's talk you through the process so training isn't needed, although desirable.
  4. King?s College Hospital is one of four major trauma centres in London, serving a population of 4.5 million people from South East London to the Kent coast. Over the past year and a half, there have been 362 landings on the helipad, which is an average of four landings every week. Previously helicopters had to land in Ruskin Park and then move patients to a road ambulance, adding 25 minutes to the emergency transfer. In the first year after the helipad opened, 162 patients were brought to King? by air ambulance.
  5. I live in Ondine, backing on to the area Cedges talks about and the family's noise extends here. There is very little that can be done as unfortunately people who make a lot of noise, are often are not amenable to polite approaches. The council noise officers may be able to help with loud music at night but will not intervene in domestic noise usually. It might be worth getting together with neighbours to give polite approaches a bit more muscle - metaphorically of course, not literally.
  6. Try PALS , the hospital's liaison service, who should be able to find out more for you. Email [email protected] Phone Tel: 020 3299 3601, 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday
  7. There was a professor of thermostatic functions of the body on the Today programme last week. She said that it was a myth that hot drinks cool you down. You may think they do of course, which is a different matter.
  8. Strulch is really good. You can get it at garden centres
  9. A few years ago Colin put up a large area of decking. Last week he maintained it as usual by cleaning, pressure washing and varnishing it. Prompt and reliable as always and decking looking great. I would always recommend Colin for any jobs that need doing, he has never let me down.
  10. Well done Captain Kernow
  11. Cant be that bad. I've never noticed it!
  12. Sue's original message was so nice, and then to get DF's mean spirited reply ......shame on him
  13. A friend of mine from North London seldom ventures South of the river. On one of her rare visits she got on the train at Victoria for Denmark Hill, only to have it not stop there. Other passengers told her it was quite a common occurence.
  14. There is also a dementia friendly monthly tea dance at West Norwood, just up the road https://en-gb.facebook.com/singinganddancingforolderpeople/
  15. Hallo Can I ask what the meal at the Mirash was like? I used to really enjoy their food. Then a couple of years ago I had a terrible take away from them and since then haven't dared try again. But would like to if the curry club gave it the thumbs up.
  16. Champ, tell us a bit about your circumstances and vulnerabilities. Then we could discuss them on this thread (even if we don't really know anything about you). I'm sure you would not like that and the respect you would want should also be extended to the person this thread is about
  17. No Joeleg. We are talking about someone without his knowledge or permission. I don't think you would like that.
  18. I am uncomfortable with an individual being discussed on this forum.
  19. I wish there was a like button on the EDF. Good work amac
  20. Hi For info - the Chief financial officer's resignation was accepted a couple of months ago.
  21. Natty, if you are unhappy with service you or your family has received at Kings please do contact their Patient Liaison team. They can help with problems that you have not been able to sort out with staff on a ward or in a clinic. Or, if you want to make a complaint, they can tell you how to do so. They can also tell you about independent organisations that can help you with a complaint. Tel 020 3299 3601. Pam
  22. For clarification, the link I gave, which I have now removed, was for special measures. I'm sorry for the mistake as the Hospital has in fact been put under "financial special measures," which does not imply that there is a problem with patient care. Many hospitals in England, including the majority in London are in financial deficit. There are many reasons for this, some individual to KCH, but it would certainly seem, as Penguin 68 says, that the financial model needs changing
  23. Penguin68 is right that the special measures are financial. NHSI guidance says Trusts previously put into financial special measures have received support across a range of areas including: ensuring that their financial systems and controls operate effectively, so that money isn?t being spent without proper checks and controls - including, for example, in the authorisation of agency and locum spend improving efficiency and productivity, including learning lessons from higher performing trusts improving the way trusts manage their workforce and plan rotas to use their permanent staff most effectively - we have seen major reductions in temporary staff spend in this way ensuring they get paid appropriately for the work they do I am a Southwark Governor for KCH. As a Governor group we are worried as to what special measures might bring and as our lead governor said to the BBC we are "concerned at further cost pressure and the need to source further reductions after two years of major cuts". As a public governor I need to represent the views of Southwark residents so please do post on this thread with your thoughts about what is happening to your local hospital. Pam
  24. But you can't expect to be able to get a direct bus from any point a to any point b! That's impossible in any large city
  25. I had a power cut Saturday night/Sunday morning
