I still think a competent government would have put us into a Norway option (there are problems as Norway doesn't particularly want us so we may have needed our own Norway area) for a number of years (I'd say 5) with agreement to negotiate further (remain or move to FTA) down the line. Then promise to leave is done and we'd be on course for a second referendum in 5 years. Too late for that now I think.
  2. Motorbikes are louder than cars and buses these days - they accelerate to get away from the traffic and it's quite a roar if you're four floors up.
  3. He's out and he's mutated into Robinson Crusoe. Looks like he's been stuck on the island in Lost rather than in jail.
  4. The weeping willow tree on Peckham Rye that was chopped back to a trunk has spouted loads of greenery - it's not anywhere near dead like I thought :)

  9. Well done Ireland - many Welsh supporters will be cheering on Ireland too (need as much support as you can get in Japan - it's a long way away).
  10. The Peckham Rye station upgrade is happening - they've moved businesses out and are working out of sight now. It's still got a way to go though ... https://www.southwark.gov.uk/regeneration/peckham-and-nunhead/peckham-rye-station-square. There was meant to be a development adjacent to Co-Op House - but not heard a lot about it since various changes promised about the back of it, contrastingly the development next to Canavans (Christmas Yard) seems to be going along as fast as the workmen can build it. Not heard much about the development of the Coal Line - but there was an update to the website in July about looking for funding. http://www.peckhamcoalline.org/ Peckham Rye Lido project is still going along (most here believe it can't happen) with an update in August https://www.facebook.com/peckhamlido/

  12. I stayed up (well not purposely) to see the Proroguing and it was nice to hear the Labour MPs singing Red Flag, The Scottish Flower of Scotland and the Welsh Calon Lan whilst the Tories trooped into the Lords. John Bercow was not a happy man.

Private polling of constituencies not showing good for tories (this is constituency by constituency and seems to point to maybe the tories are piling up votes in already safe constituencies). "A Number 10 mole tells me that the private polling actually shows the Tories would currently win 💥287 seats 💥(YouGov. Sample 50,000)" @PippaCrerar

"Nigel Farage, the Brexit party leader, claims that Boris Johnson has changed tack and that he is now going ?all out? for Theresa May?s Brexit deal." Theresa May must be laughing herself silly.

Boris in Dublin insisting he wants a real deal and saying no deal is a failing of statecraft. Is he changing his tune or just making it up as he goes ?

This is one of the questions used to test peoples knowledge of the political process a few weeks ago. It doesn't matter what your constituency believes an MP is voted to use their own judgement. It's at the core of British Democracy and not just my point of view. Of course Orpington is now free for Boris to take as his own in any GE as Uxbridge is not a safe seat if you suspect Jo is still doing Boris a favour.

Jo Johnson "It's been an honour to represent Orpington for 9 years & to serve as a minister under three PMs. In recent weeks I've been torn between family loyalty and national interest. It's an unresolvable tension & time for others to take on my roles as MP & minister" Bye Bro

How many times I've been told I should lose my Welsh accent - yet it's still there. Posh speakers do get promoted faster - but so do tall handsome men (IMHO)
