There are some keyboard shortcuts - CTRL+TAB will cycle through tabs for instance. Might be worth trying some out before actually doing it :)

If you press F11 at startup you may be able to restore to an earlier setting without a mouse using recovery mode (not tried doing this)

I felt like this when my phone got stolen. I ended up getting insurance (14 per month) and of course nothing has happened since. Maybe house contents insurance covers it - worth checking.

Long time ago (when I did this) devices used to be found in device manager as "unknown device" or a device that is not working. Maybe upgrading the device driver or removing and re-scanning anything like that would help. Just checked mine and there's also "view"->"show hidden devices" - might show up something ?
