Oh. Beth Rigby's back on Sky News today after her 3 month leave of absence. 3 months of her not being heard, if not censorship :)
-
Oprahs certainly got a following in the US. I understand her saying "your truth" in the sense in school you'll ask both sides in the playground fight for "their side of the story" - it's a bit of an Americanism possibly. Possibly the real truth can't be found only many conflicting accounts.

It's easy to promise everything to everybody but I don't think he'd be in a position to deliver.

So the Press Gazette tried to back up claims of the Society of Editors that UK media is not bigoted but a lot of people are disagreeing. Is the press the real problem here ? https://pressgazette.co.uk/bigoted-uk-press-harry-and-meghan-racism-claim-debate-media-coverage/

It's part of the "Culture Wars" in the US so it'll just move on in my view. I notice the group representing UK press (The Society of Editors) says the UK press isn't bigoted - a lot of people disagree with that. CNN trying to link it all together in this article https://edition.cnn.com/2021/03/09/uk/meghan-racism-uk-reaction-gbr-intl/index.html and finally "CNN will soon launch Royal News, a weekly newsletter bringing you the inside track on the royal family, what they are up to in public and what's happening behind palace walls. " LOL are they on a troll :)

Piers has resigned so his walkout wasn't a set-up (or maybe it was). I 100% expect to see him turn up on GB-TV by the end of the month.
-
Very polite release from the palace. They want to deal with this privately and obviously hope the media shut up a bit. Ends saying Harry Meghan and Archie are much loved members of the family.
-
I can't really read Meghan very well but I think Harry has had a lot of trauma. I saw a video of him saying that the media killed Diana and both him and William were told that as boys.
-
It was portrayed in the interview as if the comment portrayed a darker skin colour as less desirable for the royal family - we'll never know for sure if that was the intent. We don't even know who said it - although I suspect someone.

Thoughtless comments are seen as evidence of systematic racism I think.

Beware psychosomatic/anxiety effects - I'll definitely be having them as I can feel aches coming on after receiving my text to go in and have the vaccination. I'll update how I feel next week though - hopefully I'll say none.

Good Question, I got mine a minute ago by text. I quote: "Your phone number has been obtained from your GP records" and then on the booking site "You also need to be registered with a GP surgery in England to use this service. You can register with a GP if you do not have one."
-
Got mine today - nothing with it except a big "YOUR RESPONSE IS REQUIRED BY LAW" on the outside - sort of riles into leaving it until the last minute.

and cold war steve's take:

Piers cares deeply and walked off GMTV this morning after this conversation. I take it this weatherman is more involved than just saying where it's going to rain. "The weatherman told Piers: ?I understand you don?t like Meghan Markle, you?ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme. I understand you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle - or had one - and she cut you off. ?She?s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. "

The UK press denying it's ever been bigoted. ?The UK media is not bigoted and will not be swayed from its vital role holding the rich and powerful to account following the attack on the press by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex." https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/harry-society-of-editors-meghan-markle-ian-murray-oprah-winfrey-b922908.html

"After my dad stopped taking my calls" That's Jeremy Kyle stuff - Can't see how the monarchy will continue under Charles.
-
Even if we returned to ?SD it wouldn't matter as everything below a ? is pretty much loose change and irrelevant :) Except everything worth ?4 would be priced at ?3 S19 D11

I don't think I have the physical presence for that. As M says above maybe a need to evaluate the situation and look around. It might even be good to appear friendly to give any victim time to get away.

Maybe lecture was the wrong word - I'd try to ask something open ended about how he felt and hope for a long answer. of course some depends on my mood and state of mind too (as it's not just him that has different moods) - if I was walking home from the pub I might just talk rubbish. I'd also stay well out of attack range.

I suspect many people wouldn't intervene at all or maybe just quietly call for help because they don't thing they can do much ?
