The scientific reasoning for not giving it to over 65s is a lack of data - that data will come in quite quickly and Germany knows it can give other vaccines to the over 65s in the meantime.

This E484K mutation is obviously worrying government scientists in relation to vaccination. The Kent variant seems to have added this mutation to itself - first found in the SA variant. https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-mutation-of-kent-variant-detected-in-samples-could-help-virus-evade-immune-system-12206375 The UK is the world leader at tracking these mutations so if we're finding them it implies they are happening in other countries and not being picked up. These vaccines need to be implemented worldwide ASAP - it's a race against the virus and forget nationalism or petty politics.

Someone said that every american had $600 given to them by their government so they need to find some scheme to spend it on. :)

Worryingly for small investors trying this lots said the investment site crashed at the selling point and by the time it was back .... it was over.

They tried the same thing with a crypto currency (called a pump and dump apparently) https://www.financemagnates.com/cryptocurrency/news/reddit-targets-xrp-cryptocurrency-jumps-100/ It was an abysmal failure for many (although no doubt some made a profit - those I saw on twitter missed the selling point and lost out) https://www.coindesk.com/price/xrp

When our family had a loft inside it were Christmas decorations Boxes of old books An old cold water tank not used A suitcase I never opened Some spooky dolls Going up there was a bit of a climb too as we never put in a proper loft ladder just a hole with a hatch

I suppose the argument is that people have moved within the EU to where the money is - countries like Greece, Italy and Spain are losing their populations. Maybe that would have happened anyway and also maybe that's what happenes in large states ?

We still don't know if you are still contagious after being vaccinated (unless I missed it). I think we need that answer quickly to plan vaccinations.

Reading the instructions on anything used to be easy LOL. Now I need to put it under the kitchen cooker light (thats the one I find easiest to help read things)

Israel is doing a bit of sharing with the Palestinian authority Maybe countries are realising they can't be an island in this. UK needs to help the EU if it needs it and it can't do the UK's rep any harm across the world to do so.

Scotland could join the EEA/Common Market/EFTA to start I guess and keep something poundlike in the meantime. Until it happens we really don't know how far other countries (including England) would go to to accommodate or not. I'd hope if it happened and there was no choice they'd be pragmatic.

If Wales got independence I would feel obliged to take up a passport at whatever cost (hopefully dual) but that decision is not close at present.

"This morning Blair confirmed numerous recent reports that he had been advising ministers on their pandemic response, telling Ridge: ?Yes of course I speak to people in government?." Some people will not like that.

Looks like the UK government is going along with the WHO suggestion to sharevaccines once the 9 groups are done. "Generosity and cross-border cooperation were the themes of the day on Sunday" https://www.politicshome.com/news/article/liz-truss-uk-will-give-spare-coronavirus-vaccines-to-other-countries-once-it-hits-its-roll-out-targets

True - but wondered if that was the suggestion of the original post. Anyway back to watching a few episodes of "Fear the Walking Dead" - how did I get stuck in series four.

It's hard to see how a major issue of > any independence referendum would not be a painted > as a straight up choice between remaining in the > UK or re-joining the EU (at some future point).... The fightback to that would be stay in the UK and fight their corner ... although I admit if I had a valid Irish ancestor I'd grab dual nationality just for the opportunities so if I'm representative I get their feelings. There could be the weakness in the argument for independence if many are considering voting that way because of EU membership as there's a lot more to Scottish independence than EU membership. The NO campaign could run with that. The weakness in Welsh Devolution across Wales was always the idea that Cardiff would run your lives for their petty interests - so for years Swansea and other areas were anti devolution - even when the vote came it took a large vote in Carmarthenshire to wipe out what was a NO lead from Swansea and other areas for most of the night.

Does the OP really mean would we be prepared to lose an eye for protection ? If just an injection I think something like a lumbar puncture would be more scary for me but people still have them every day.
-
Apparently an Express writer was saying today that Wales need to have devolution removed before they "sleepwalk into independence" Maybe shows what the Express writer thinks of Wales :) This one if you can put up with the Express throwing adverts at your browser https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1391153/Wales-news-welsh-assembly-independence-mark-drakeford-senedd

TheCat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I wonder if this latest fiasco being discussed on > the vaccine wars thread will give many Scots cause > to reconsider their preferred option? If we compare to Brexit they want their sovereignty at whatever cost. Of course whether they then rejoin the EU is another decision. I think there are possible scenarios that would turn the public off though but not sure what they are - personally I'd like a formal federal (Gordon Brown preferred) type system set in the constitution.

Even Peter Hitchens in the Mail now accepts Scotland are leaving. There's an argument we just a spend our time planning for it. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-9205833/PETER-HITCHENS-Say-goodbye-Scotland-Wales-flag-lets-save-England.html

The families of the dead are those suffering.

Oh Yes and at least one of SAGE tends to agree we need to get the vulnerable in all countries vaccinated first... "One member of the UK government?s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, Jeremy Farrar, warned that vaccinating ?a lot of people in a few countries, leaving the virus unchecked in large parts of the world, will lead to more variants emerging.?"
