The WHO (WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris) has said once the top 9 groups are vaccinated the UK should share all vaccines to enable those groups to be vaccinated in every other country especially the poor. I'd be OK to defer if it was necessary (although I'm group 8 - 55 and over ... just) Can only find it in Arab News :) https://www.arabnews.com/node/1800976/world "In her appeal, Harris told the BBC: ?We?re asking countries, once you?ve got those high-risk and healthcare worke"r groups, please ensure that the supply you?ve got access to is provided for others. While that?s morally the right thing to do, it?s also economically the right thing to do.? She added: ?There?ve been a number of very interesting analyses showing that just vaccinating your own country and then sitting there and saying ?we?re fine? won?t work economically. That phrase ?no man is an island? applies economically as well ? Unless we get all societies working effectively once again, every society will be financially affected.? "
  2. London needs some form of devolution ... bring back the GLC :) Sometimes Khan seems knocked back by all the Anti-Khan people - yet he's still popular in London - He got excluded from COBR for leaking apparently maybe that was pretty upsetting. He hasn't the narcissism of previous Mayors. https://www.itv.com/news/london/2020-07-14/petty-party-politics-london-mayor-sadiq-khan-frozen-out-of-government-cobra-meetings-for-more-than-two-months
  3. Wheres the pragmatism in the press. Boris to be fair to him seems to have agreed with UVdL that vaccines should cross borders which to me means UK gets some from Belgium (and others) and EU gets some from UK - but somehow (just my dark suspicions of this government) I suspect our government has done a deal with AZ at some point and NDAs will stop us ever knowing what. How Ireland got into it - a stupid chess move from the EU commission unless they're playing 10 moves ahead :)
  4. How do you attach a song to a post or an entire thread then ... :)
  5. Hamletter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think any business would fulfill their orders in > chronological order of receipt. > Someone who knows about contracts needs to say if that is relevant unless mentioned in the contract (I'm not an expert on contracts) I'd have thought if you sign a contract it's between the parties in the contract and other contracts don't come into it unless specifically mentioned. If someone fails to deliver it needs to be renegotiated or whatever ...
  6. They've invoked article 16 of the NI protocol Not sure I blame them as they need vaccines but not sure where it will lead https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-55864442

I remember the recovery started with the iMac - a big bright colourful thing that cheered you up :) This thing - the G3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMac_G3

  10. We've launched a scheme that allows up to 3 million Hong Kong residents to have a pathway to UK citizenship. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/29/britain-launches-visa-scheme-for-hong-kong-citizens That's great and we do owe something to former citizens (as does the EU to it's former citizens) - but weren't we "full up" a year or so ago according to some (Mr Farage I mean you). Edit: Immigration was said to be a disuniting force in the UK by some - but was it just the wrong sort of immigration.

Amazing I remember when all this was brand new. Makes me feel ancient. A bulletin Board was something we dialed into once :)

His visit to Scotland was important though - he's developed a new vaccine - Borovax. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/germany-astrazeneca-jab-under65s-b908336.html "Boris Johnson tries a test as he visits the French biotechnology laboratory Valneva in Livingston"
  13. I'm not that impressed with Sir Keir either at the moment - he doesn't lie but he isn't holding Boris to account for not answering questions - and neither is the Speaker. There appears to be no way of turning PMQs into a proper questioning session (although it often is OK when normal MPs ask questions). The best questions are done in committees.

That's what annoys me - lifespan maybe 72 when you're born but once you reach 75 it extends and you're not necessarily at deaths door. "For example, a girl born in 2016 in Mexico is expected to live to age 79, however the life expectancy of a 65-year-old woman in Mexico in 2016 is 84. Her life expectancy is higher because she has already reached 65 and is therefore more likely to live another 20 years." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-44107940
  16. There is a feeling it's an English Nationalist government among many - no real evidence for that offhand - just the way the government comes across.
  17. I prefer speed over loads of functionality - but then I still use CLIs
  18. LOL and he's immediately attacked on twitter It is so obvious who controls these bot networks on social media when you look at what riles them.

Oh yes - we all want to watch new shows on Netflix. The last in the series of Blacklist had cartoon inserts - didn't really work for me.
  20. I saw Gove defending his visit this morning. Sky Niall asked him "Do we all look the same to you" :)
  21. By the way the headline says "User reports indicate no current problems at Virgin Media" but if you look at the tweets everyone's having a moan - but then maybe Virgin users moan more than Sky/BT/Plusnet users ... Surely NOT.
  22. No1 on Downdetector today - but that's actually not very infrequesnt - Sorry Virgin. https://downdetector.co.uk/status/virgin-media/
  23. On twitter they list the average age of death of Covid sufferers being greater than the average age of death of the whole UK but don't look any further (if correct not checked) as to why that might be statistically. There's also a feel that some think once you're 80 you're dead anyway - or project that impression - maybe they're young and really think that but most probably they're grabbing figures to enhance their argument.
  24. I do remember as a 16 year feeling that missing a year or resitting it seemed it would be the biggest disaster in the world. At 25 it seemed like not much really - just a year - the most important thing is your goal being something you really want and that it'll make you happy and also it's obtainable/realistic. Many people do the same job for years on end. If we do make them redo it lets give them counsel as to what they want and how they should go about getting it so they won't regret what they choose to do.
