Well heres his speech - it still confuses me https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/uk-news/every-word-boris-johnsons-coronavirus-18229764 From Boris speech "I have consulted across the political spectrum, across all four nations of the UK." From the Mail (Sturgeon) "She complained she had not been informed the slogan was being replaced with 'stay alert' before it was briefed out to the media. " and "And so no, this is not the time simply to end the lockdown this week. Instead we are taking the first careful steps to modify our measures. And the first step is a change of emphasis that we hope that people will act on this week. We said that you should work from home if you can, and only go to work if you must. We now need to stress that anyone who can't work from home, for instance those in construction or manufacturing, should be actively encouraged to go to work. And we want it to be safe for you to get to work. So you should avoid public transport if at all possible - because we must and will maintain social distancing, and capacity will therefore be limited. So work from home if you can, but you should go to work if you can't work from home. And to ensure you are safe at work we have been working to establish new guidance for employers to make workplaces COVID-secure. And when you do go to work, if possible do so by car or even better by walking or bicycle. But just as with workplaces, public transport operators will also be following COVID-secure standards. (Wednesday was not mentioned up to this point) And from this Wednesday, we want to encourage people to take more and even unlimited amounts of outdoor exercise." I think part of the speech about going to work was edited out personally - changes were made at a late stage.

I'm lucky in that an email has stated exactly the opposite for us - anyone uncomfortable can stay at home. We're lucky in that most can work from home anyway. It's incredibly difficult if you are told to go to work and you are uncomfortable about it.
  4. Keir Starmer pointed out just now in PMQs (as he would as LotO) that the country comparison chart has been ditched. Boris replied the Government is still analyzing other countries - bit didn't reply specifically. Oh yes and the whining about Grimes spoiled PMQs (by some MP - didn't see who and took it back to the low level pre lockdown

I'm not having a big go at the PM above by the way - but he seemed to bypass Wales and Scotland on Sunday and he was very confusing partly due to it being pre-recorded then I think edited (no proof of the edit but I suspected)

Wales and Scotland FMs weren't consulted before Boris went on TV - they were pretty peeved about it I think. Independence movements are bubbling although there is a bit of "we don't want outsiders" - similar in Cornwall - there really is no welcome for people driving to the west of the UK at present. He didn't make it clear about Wednesday - maybe we can replay a video :)
  7. There's obviously some issues about US-China (or Trump-China). Anyone who saw today's Trump news conference and the reaction of one of the press corps to Trump before he walked away can see that. She seemed really upset.
  8. You used to be able to use this http://www.ph-mb.com/products/sky-calc Seems to be a discussion here http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/extracting-sky-router-passwords/59028-simple-tool-extracting-username-password-your-router.html I replaced my old Sagem with an SR203 recently which seems good for me
  9. And again I agree what Jeremy Hunt is saying - note he is saying advice from SAGE should have been published - I think he may even maybe hinting SAGE was manipulated by secrecy. Remember , we only went into lockdown because Macron threatened to block UK ports some say. Jeremy Hunt is not Government at present - he's Chair of a HoC committee I think. Edit: Actually as he was Health Secretary when this system was set-up he is criticising himself :)
  10. There is a pub in Greenwich which has never closed (no names given).
  11. The mutation causing worry seems to be D614G at the moment as far as I can tell. It has changes to the virus spikes on it's surface. https://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/2020/05/07/mutations-in-the-coronavirus-spike-protein

Boris just confused everyone now. You're supposed to go to work but not use public transport and no guidance for employers will be published until Wednesday. What will employers do when people turn up after being told to with a few hours notice ? "Richard Burge, chief executive of London Chamber of Commerce, said: ?My strong and unequivocal advice to London businesses is not to change your plans for tomorrow. You have not been given sufficient information on how to get your employees safely to work, nor how to keep them safe while they are there. ?At the moment, it would be foolish for any business leader to encourage staff not already undertaking essential work to do anything but to continue to work from home tomorrow if they can do so.?

It's the green colour which is subliminal for GO just as the previous red colour said STOP. But - I hear Boris's speech today has been pre-recorded and there are lots of rumours he's had enough of being PM. Edit: Just checked with the Standard and it is "Mr Johnson's pre-recorded speech will be shown at 7pm." so I'll watch the highlights of it at my leisure. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/what-time-boris-johnson-speech-today-lockdown-a4436486.html
  14. Sky News seemed to just do two locations There was that conga with a rope mind - not sure about it. I admit I love to see horror in the European papers about what the Brits are doing now :) https://extra.ie/2020/05/09/must-see/uk-socially-distanced-conga-uk A search for "conga fury" sees many more including a pub in Greenwich that allegedly opened.
  15. Libel Look what happened with Vernon Unsworth vs Elon Musk, Libel or Slander action isn't a walk in the park. Trump has never sued about "the russian tapes" either.
  16. Critical thinking is about challenging others ideas - the challenges can be used to prove or disprove the theory but you need supporting evidence and valid reasoning not just raw emotion and slick presentation. A lot of truths are presented - but they are well known usually historical truths and used to legitimize the presenters before linking in the dodgy theory. Alien programs do this all the time on History2 and the like, they go through interesting historical fact to catch the interest of the viewer before the line "Space Alien researchers believe ...." Obviously professional researchers see through this and here's a debunk of just some of the claims https://www.medpagetoday.com/blogs/zdoggmd/86351 There are loads similar pages.
  17. DON'T make your own fireworks - but you can make your own bunting from toilet paper and Camden Heroes beer is back on Monday (OK a bit late but better late than never as General Blucher said). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFKQeaMSQwM

  25. I saw two mutation stories yesterday 1 - the virus has undergone a mutation similar to the one SARS-1 did before that virus became less dangerous (could be a sign the pandemic may end) https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-05-scientific-team-unique-mutation-coronavirus.html 2 - the virus underwent a mutation in February and became much more virulent (contagious not deadly) - maybe those who caught the original virus could also catch the mutation https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-05-05/mutant-coronavirus-has-emerged-more-contagious-than-original Sheffield is mentioned below as a hotspot of mutant strain C https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/05/05/coronavirus-strains-mutating-some-more-dangerous-than-others/3085752001/
