  1. Tesco Rye Lane requires a permanent doorman and between that and 255 Rye Lane is a Ladbrokes betting shop. Why didn't they consult the residents first about how this might be done as this isn't going to work without massive security - what happens when dealers start hanging around ?.
  2. and heres the website of the company managing it https://www.groundwork.org.uk/ I take it they will need doormen on the door if it's a coffee shop for vulnerable children ?
  3. https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/new-mental-health-drop-in-centre-for-young-people-coming-to-peckham-in-may/ Here we go - I don't see how this benefits the residents above as was promised me by Tower Homes 10 years ago. Are they part subsidising my huge rent portion. I'll find out.

I got it from some guy on the bus after a party Xmas 2017 because I had a plum coloured shirt. Realised the other day I never wore that shirt again - it effects you even subconsciously.

It was supposed to be a Health Center - the shops are meant to supplement our social living as agreed with L&Q - they are for us at Co-Op House not general shops. I argue enough with the students leaving the snooker hall at 4AM and that has just quietened off.
  6. Springer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It?s a wind up by the builders obviously Well it's a joke that will rebound on them if it was. It is to be some kind of health center which I was OK with but I'd sort of forgotten about it - now I haven't. If it's been moved from Uxbridge due to political reasons I'll make them feel really welcome here.
  7. SOuthwark know when it's about to kick off ***** Due to planned server maintenance web systems will be unavailable for short periods between 10pm midnight on Saturday 22 February. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. *****

Edit: It's being set-up by Hillingdon - Boris's constituency so no doubt didn't want these people there.

I live directly above it so not a retail area - there's 100s of us directly above and more across the street both ways - I'm a bit bad tempered when it comes to delinquents if they start and not the person they would want above them. It's already been passed 19/AP/5796
  10. These immigration rules are being pushed as fairer as they don't give Europeans preference - but thats not where the people with the leave agenda want to end up. The Express (and others) are still pushing CANZUK. from 2nd Feb 2020 not last year as we thought this had disappeared. https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1236734/brexit-news-uk-trade-union-canada-australia-new-zealand-Erin-O-Toole-Canzuk-plan

  12. Beggars do get attacked regularly - there used to be a man who aggressively begged on Rye Lane a few years ago - then the same in Waterloo. I know he got beaten up regularly as he used to show me the bruises/dried blood to elicit sympathy (unless he was faking it which I don't think he was). I actually watched this guy deteriorate from regular build to slight build as his behavior worsened over 5 years with periods obviously spent in prison and wearing a tag.
  13. Ian Dunt's take (but of course he is a filthy remainer lol) https://www.politics.co.uk/blogs/2020/02/19/the-end-of-free-movement-this-is-a-nation-dismantling-itself

It's already making bad service too. A few pub managers have mentioned they lost all there staff erlier this year and I'm seeing people behind the bar making a foamy mess of pouring a pint - I suppose they'll get better. My 20% reduction in certain pubs and free coffees at Pret seems to have gone with the East Europeans mind you (maybe it'll return) :)
  15. Has Virgin had problems in SE22 - remember some previous threads saying there is over subscription. I'm with Sky and they are Ok unless you hit a problem they can't solve - then some horror stories that usually end up at Openreach's door (everyone except Virgin uses Openreach). They'll all sue you for your shirt off your back if you don't pay when in contract remember.
  16. Priti causing trouble in the Home Office now. ?If this were any other environment Philip Rutnam would not only be sacked he?d be denied a pension.' It worries me that this government thinks it can threaten the pensions of civil servants. Not only the civil service but pension schemes should be separate from politicians. Any other environment has contribution based pensions and it's your money (mine shows up on my bank account app - Priti's not having it). https://metro.co.uk/2020/02/20/priti-patel-accused-bullying-staff-trying-oust-senior-civil-servant-12270747/

The argument is that voters voted for a party and it's policies and no politician should be independent of it. Logically we might as well vote in a computer program.
  18. You can see whats going to happen - those unemployed or ill or not working for other reasons are going to be forced into these jobs whether they're fit to do them or not. "Business groups from the CBI to the bodies representing the farming, hospitality and care work sectors have all raised the alarm about the new system, saying it will cause labour shortages." "But Patel insisted it would be necessary for businesses to look more to potential British workers, helping them to ?up their skills and make their skills relevant? to the job market." But these are non skilled jobs Priti - or you define them as such for immigration purposes ?

  20. Sephiroth Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Still, I?m here now > Living in same country as keano and uncleglen > Only I have more rights and freedoms than they do Patel has plans for the "economically inactive" - ironically that's going to be lots of the Brexit fanatics I suspect. Pensioners next. "8 million people between the ages of 16 and 64 were ?economically inactive? and could be given the skills to do jobs in sectors where there were shortages as a result of the new points-based system."

  22. Priti Patel says care workers will be exempt on Kay Burley show - 20 minutes later an employment professional said that was not in the bill and she lied. Never :)

In other words low skilled immigrants are just intrinsically bad - it isn't a job issue.
