"Blind vice" items in newspapers/gossip mags have been the subject of proceedings and substantial settlements. More importantly IMHO, this is community website, run not for profit by Admin and his team. Several local businesses and individuals have threatened legal action (and even taken action in one case I think?) against them because of ill-judged and highly personal comments made in threads like this one - leading to other members having to offer free legal advice and a whole heap of further admin and trouble. This is going to sound horribly preachy (and I really wish it didn't) but is this really what the forum is here for?

I know it's late, and alcohol may have been taken, but one of the main things I get from this thread is that I live in an area with lots of fundamentally decent people who are willing to give others the benefit of the doubt. Not condoning this woman in any way, but those who have been taken in have nothing to feel bad about IMHO.

New Restaurant on Forest Hill Road
Siduhe replied to mrsorganicsausage's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I read an interview with/comment from a gentlemen who owns (the freeholds?) of Anatolia and Si Mangia somewhere recently. Possibly Living South, possibly the SE22 Magazine*? The article said Anatolia would be reopening and he would be opening a third restaurant on the street later this year. I guess this may be it? No clue as to what it would be - he said he was actively looking for a business to open up a restaurant there. *In my defence, I was sitting waiting for a doctor's appointment and there wasn't much else to read. -
Has the ED housing market reached the bottom yet ( II )

Alternatively.... http://kenfrost.0catch.com/deadcat.JPG Not saying one or the other view is right - but some of the reporting is far from balanced. -

Was put in place because Southwark hadn't got around to gritting Melford/Wood Vale - there are some tight negotiations of traffic islands on Wood Vale particularly and it was considered that there would very likely be an accident. I was told by TFL that the route should be back to normal tomorrow.

I walked past a few big piles this morning, but suspect they are primarily intended for the street cleaners, who have been out in force both mornings I have walked down Forest Hill Road at 7am, shovelling grit onto/into the pavement.

Have you looked at the live info on the National Rail site for this evening? Nothing from London to Peckham Rye - http://www.livedepartureboards.co.uk/ldb/sumarr.aspx?T=PMR Nothing from London to ED - http://www.livedepartureboards.co.uk/ldb/sumarr.aspx?T=EDW

Sean, couldn't agree with you more - in particular the idiot who came shooting out of the lights at the bottom of Wood Vale into Forest Hill Road because he hit the brakes too hard trying to stop for the lights, and the lady trying to drive up a steep incline by revving on the accelerator. Both of them hit solid objects with a kind of balletic grace, but very lucky no-one was seriously hurt, especially given the number of children and other pedestrians around when it happened.

Mr Siduhe walked to Brixton and got the tube - I was seriously impressed...

There are plenty of reasons why a cat might go outside a litterbox. The most common is a urinary tract infection, but if you've been to the vets, I guess they have discounted this (and he's not just wee'ing outside the box). Main things to think about: How clean is the litter in the box, does your mother regularly scoop it? Cats don't like messy or smelly litter. She might also try a different litter - a natural one like World's best cat litter, to see if that may be part of the issue. Cats may also stop using the litter box because of where it is located. Is the litter box somewhere quiet and out of the way? Can you get a cover for it if you don't have one already? Also is the litter box upstairs and the cat peeing downstairs? A lot of cats will find a place to urinate if the litter box is on a different level of the house then what they are on. Things that generally get suggested for this kind of thing is to make areas where the cat has been using the bathroom unattractive by cleaning with citrus scented cleansers or placing aluminum foil in the area (with some holes in the foil so the area can breathe). Or, you can place a small travel type litter box in the areas where the cat has been urinating. When the cats has successfully used the box for at least a few weeks start moving the box to a more desirable location, but do not move the box more then a few inches per day.

It was for TFL (the police are just there to stop the cars). To help with "future planning process and policy development" or similar.

I just logged in to see 1782 new unread threads in ED Specific! A reset new posts seems to have cleared the problem...

Crazy traffic lights in LL near Court Lane
Siduhe replied to Townleygreen's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
They are still trying to sort out the problems with the burst water main which we discussed a few weeks back. Don't know for certain why the traffic set up is as it is, but could it be to protect the crews who are working on it during the day? -

Same here - it's the voltage dipping - guess there is a problem with one of the local feeders or a substation somewhere in the area is out.

I know it's not ED (and is covered earlier in this thread) but I visited Babur for the first time this week for take out and thought it was brilliant, especially the red pumpkin and the dhal. Really nicely spiced and good portions. Not cheap enough to be a regular thing, but great for an occasional treat.

I'm not sure if this should be in ED, Wanted or Lounge (but have gone for Lounge as it is not "ED specific"), but wanted to mention to any artistic types out there that you could help improve public spaces in the surrounding ED area (SE15) and win ?2,000 while you're at it. No connection to the competition, but was sent the press release so thought I would pass it on: http://web.mac.com/evolutionquarter/EQRA/Home/Entries/2009/1/19_EQRA_Launches_public_art_competition_-_win_%C2%A32000!.html#0

I don't think much of the way they've put the letter, but (absent permission from the doctors to reveal details of their qualifications or them being posted on the site) I agree that you will have to make an FOIA request to get the information about qualifications that you want. This is because a list of the doctors' qualifications is "personal information" under the Data Protection Act, and the DMC could be in breach of the act if they simply hand it over to you as that would count as processing (and wouldn't obviously be subject to any of the exceptions). However any individual doctor is also subject to the FOIA (part 45 of Sch 1), so the DMC can properly give the info to you (in spite of the DPA) if they go through the FOIA process and conclude that it is appropriate in accordance with the criteria in the act. The simplest way to deal with the request would have been to get permission from the doctors to their qualifications being disclosed like this, but either they didn't think about this, or I guess one or more of the doctors refused. I also think they should simply have treated your original request as under the FOIA, but it's not uncommon for organisations to require a specific letter that says "this is a request under the FOIA" because of the charging provisions in the Act (i.e. you can be charged a fee for providing the information). Edited to say - I see they are posted on the site after all - job done!

louisiana Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dulwich Lakeside (aka the bottom of Mount Adon > Park) update: currently around twenty feet wide > lake across the entire width of the road at > junction with LL. I reported this earlier today. Thames Water have this showing on their system as repaired on Friday evening, so something has obviously gone wrong again over the weekend. The more reports that Thames Water get, the more urgently they tend to respond, so it would be good if others could also ring it in.

I like Lombok in Herne Hill. Food is on the spicy side and it's a bit more expensive than TCC, but they have some unusual (I'm told authentic) dishes like fish and banana curry which sounds a bit odd but really worked. http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/reviews/998.html

Libretto and Daughters on Wood Vale. Not an every day butcher but well worth checking out IMHO (although they are much closer to me than WR, so I may be biased). Nice, family run butcher. No connection. http://uktv.co.uk/food/localfoodhero/outlet/oid/2020

Already covered by a local newspaper, but that's never stopped anyone before (you will appreciate this is just an excuse to post my favourite ever SLP headline)...
