Where do you feel is the boundary of East Dulwich? encompasses Dulwich hospital, Sainsburys over to peckham rye park back up to the plough. Has gentrification been a good thing or a bad thing? Has anything been lost with the changes or is the area returning to the glory days before Sainsbury's? Wasnt here pre sainsburys so cant comment Is it a nice place to live, if so why is it better than surrounding areas? I think ED is a fantastic place to live, its very easy to get around from a PT perspective, I feel I am out of the bustle of the city but have the marvellous option of curry houses, other restaurants, pubs, stalls/markets, shops to get gifts etc, cafes (right from greasy spoon up to a bit posh) etc etc right on my door step. I am bunkering down in ED for a while to come. What makes East Dulwich stand out from other areas? Is there a strong sense of community and neighborhood in the area? I definitely think it has a community feel but one where if you put in then you get something back. I think the forum enables newcomers to meet people and feel 'part of something'.. I personally love going out for nights with the forum but not only that but also seeing people when I pop to the shops, get the train to work, walk in the park etc.. More than other areas? Ive lived in London for 4 years and Ive never felt a community feel pre ED. Does East Dulwich have a local Identity? How would you describe the place? I think young (ish) i.e. 20 - 45, quite trendy but not too trendy, gay friendly, mum and baby friendly

I noticed it this morning and thought it was a bit sad but then thought it was probably due to safety i.e. to eliminate crazy people hiding in the bushes.. I really hope now that the trees wont cover the rubbish THAT PEOPLE STOP LITTERING AT THE STATION - TAKE IT WITH YOU YOU LAZY SODS!! sorry I just had to shout that out..

Really SM!! I thought it was quite good actually.. Ive now been to Surma, curry cabin and tandoor nights and I thought it came up trumps out of those three.. LG - totally hear you (pardon the pun) on the adventure bar.. music way to loud so poor floating onion had me yelling at him for a good 10 minutes, drinks were OK but no way would I have paid 7 quid for the tiny cocktail I had (i.e. we went in happy hour and got two for 1).. Have to say though they were playing some wicked tunes, bit of jimmy barnes, bit of stevie wonder I loved that bit!! -

Totally echo SM's thoughts.. Had a great night, great group with lots of chat, food was OK but Surma was better and also better value (not that it was expensive).. I also have to add not a HUGE selection for vegetarians so I was definitely fed but was pretty limited though.. Good Pinot G though, was most pleased with that wine.. x -
Definitely have to agree re landing in the right place.. I have met lots of people through this forum and I love the community feel its gives me.. One of the best things we ever did was move to ED and join the forum!! Definitely come to the drinks, it can be a little daunting not knowing anyone but we will all talk to you no probs! Alt if you wanted something a little more low key to break you in to it you could come to the curry club tonight.. See you there.. J

Looking out the window right one might think it could be summer out there.. the sun is shining and the birds are flying around the dome.. It has made me excited for summer!! Did we talk about having a summer bbq / picnic (SM I know you have been scorned by the picnic organising before)? Cant wait to do another pub crawl in the sun and heat with my flip flops on (or thongs as they are called where I am from).. >:D< :)-D What are your plans for summer? Any hols planned? In all of this bleakness lets focus on something fab.. I have no passport due the home office STILL having it 3 months down the line so not sure where we will go but I am hoping to get to Greece & Australia (possibly).. :)):)):)):))

What is it with drivers and pedestrian crossings in this country!!???
Strawbs replied to Strawbs's topic in The Lounge
Around 97/98 in Sydney the same lift policy was applied from bus stops, I many a morning whilst waiting at the bus stop (when I moved too far from the ferry) a few of us would pile in to a car so then the car could go in the transit lane as it had enough passengers and we were at work in no time.. good times, good times.. 2 things I miss about Australia - people stopping at pedestrian crossings without any question and it being illegal to park on the wrong side of the road (dont EVEN get me started on that little chestnut!!) and maybe the sun a little but given it was 41 degrees there this week I would rather the weather we are having.. Apologies I digress.. Ba$tard drivers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
