Bring on the bagged turds. I'm used to dealing with sh1t on this forum so a bag of shit can be dealt with eyes closed and head held high. Fortified i am rarely contrary, I just prefer to bring people to justice for the right reasons and not the wrong ones. Blocking pavements and ramming bystanders into the road is offensive. The dumping of bagged crap by a pensioner is hardly a crime wave in progress, this poor defenceless lady was just struggling to find a bin. I'm on the merlot tonight so anything could happen. Louisa.

You are about to be horrified. Foxtons coming to Rye Lane
Louisa replied to Louisa's topic in The Lounge
I know Peckham has had a tonne of media attention the past 3 or so years, and the side streets off Rye Lane are rather gentrifying at a pace, but Rye Lane is just so out of character for a firm which sets up shiny dazzling offices in neat trendy locations heavily in the gentrifying process. If they have an office like the LL one or Putney, it will look entirely out of place along Rye Lane. I can envisage a whole year of commercial rent rises and big names moving in again. Louisa. -
You are about to be horrified. Foxtons coming to Rye Lane
Louisa replied to Louisa's topic in The Lounge
According to the theory, Foxtons and Waitrose only settle for certain postcodes - either fully gentrified, or in the process of. With Rye Lane being the battle ground between gentrified 'Bell-end' village, ED and PR and un-gentrified North Peckham, Old Kent Road areas - would the arrival of Foxtons at this early stage be unusual? The Lane contains few if any shops that would fit this category of gentrificatjon, so is this some sort of tipping point at which big chains and Indy Boutiques follow? To me, it seems a bizarre stab in the dark from Foxtons, unless they know something we don't? Louisa. -

At least there is some good justification in the name 'bell-end village' now this lot are arriving. Louisa. -

Or Penge? Proof that this gentrification lark is just getting ridiculous. Louisa. -
Foxtons, yes FOXTONS have submitted a planning application to open up a large Estate Agent on Rye Lane in Peckham. Plans are here: http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/DocsOnline/Documents/418030_1.pdf http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=9558474 I never thought this day would come. I've always wanted to like this place, but it's just Youngs. They manage to ruin everything I love about a pub. Louisa.

rahrahrah I thought we were on the same page for once then the miss marple in me picked up on the dubious one liners contained within that codified response about pink lefty fascists from Clapham and I realised it was all a rouse to drag me kicking and screaming into a false sense of security. Louisa.

Oh for goodness sakes. Just because one person can't find a bin on one ocassion (for all we know), she is vilified and condemned on a public forum totally unnecessarily which I find rather distasteful to be frank. Disgraceful behaviour, this poor woman even bagged the offending turd but no, not on the EDF, we can't let that one go can we? But when it comes to posh mothers owning walkways not a mention. Bang out of line. Louisa.

rahrahrah yes I agree with you here. Public coffee consumption is a relatively recent phenomenon which is unquestionably patronising and often done by a certain demographic, probably to make the rest of us enviable of where they choose to buy their latte from (usually one or two certain chains locally). I've made my objections for the public consumption of food very clear in the past on this forum and that still stands. Particularly in a confined public arena. Louisa.

At no point did I suggest it was ok not to bin the mess. However, you do not know or appreciate this individuals circumstances, and if confronted they may have apologised and held their hands up. She had the common courtesy to bag it, she just forgot to bin it, so suggesting she is in the wrong is totally ludicrous. I don't see the point in bagging it if you're not gonna bin it, so she must have had good reason, that's all I'm saying. Some people clearly have nothing better to do than stare out the window shaking their heads and not confronting the problem head on. I'd much rather confront a bagged turd on the kerb than a couple of posho mothers blocking the street with their prams whilst holding Nero/Starbucks take out coffees. Call me old fashioned. Louisa.
-
The woman bagged it, and to be fair, once it's bagged it is no longer a danger to young kids or anyone else for that matter so well done for bagging it at least. I agree she should have put it in a bin, maybe she had been carrying it for a while and didn't know/forgot about a nearby bin? If she was smart enough to bag it then she my have good reason on this occasion for not binning it for whatever reason. That's why confronting in a pleasant, polite manner would have worked better for this example than naming and shaming on a public forum. I'm sure if directed towards a "nearby bin" she would have obliged. Far easier to bleet about a gripe on a forum than face to face isn't it? Louisa.

I agree with Nigello. Nothing worse than a curtain twitcher who snoops on people and doesn't confront them there and then, maybe the person would own up and learn from their mistake? Instead you critisise them on a forum they may never read and the tut tut brigade join in because they too don't have the gumption to confront said person. Yawn. Next please... Louisa.

*Bob* I do love a solarium ice cream it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Wasn't aware of an exotic variety, sounds ideal with my shades on in the garden mid-July in my skimpy little bikini. Louisa.
-
I thought a solarium was a jacuzzi bath/steam room/sauna type place? Please say I'm right. Can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon in this cold weather. Louisa.
-
Oh wow this has made my day. Not been in a solarium in years. I'll definitely be using this. Louisa.

After the recent online mistreatment of DF I have taken it upon myself to setup a special thread in appreciation of his contribution to this forum as well as the local community of East Dulwich over the years. He is an informative, engaging and thoroughly decent poster to this forum who has always explained himself before posting and in my opinion, never once gone out of his way to upset or goad anyone. Here's to DF, an ED institution. Remember foxes are for life, not just for EDF folks amusement. Louisa.

Unbelievable goading of the foxmeister. Disgusting treatment of ED royalty. Louisa.

So getting back to the old ED Deli site and Molly Meg/Anorak impending pop-up closure. Do we have any idea who or what is interested in this site? I understand an application to extend the retail space has been submitted? If it is another estate agents I will give up the will to live. Louisa.
