-100/10 Come on. You've wasted a whole setting up of an account for this? I could go off on a class rant and still score better out of 10, even after all these years. Disappointed. Louisa.

Hear, hear Jah. The famous London pub full of characters is long gone. Just a bunch of muscled rugger Home Counties blow-in's and hipster students these days seem to cram these once great community institutions. I still adore the Castle, mostly because it's unique these days in this part of town. It's awful to hear about pub closures, and whatever the new pub on Rye lane will offer is better than a closing boozer. It seems the working class pub offering has transmerged into a homogenous Wetherspoons chain like situation, and all the proper boozers have just vanished. Louisa.

Trip down memory lane. Not a day goes by when I don't mourn the loss of The Oglander. The Upland Tavern and CPT both defunct but memories survive. The Gowlett isn't a boozer anymore, it's a place for hippy students and wannabe Claphamites these days, I can remember the days of it being a boozer where the bar snacks came in sealed boxes and the pizzas were found in Londis up the road in the frozen food section. Happy days. Louisa.

Otta I can't tell if I had been probed or not, but I had stinging nettle scratches all over me and my hair was a mess. I was a bit of a p@?? artist back in the day so it could have been just me going off on a bit of a beano. However, my friend who was abducted by the yellow light told me that these creatures can wipe your memory clear after they've played about with you in their ship. Who knows, I may have been probed after all. Louisa.

Alien abductions are nothing new in this area of London. I personally have only ever seen things hovering, although I did once wake up in a bush over at Nunhead Cemetery, and for days after didn't know how I ended up there. Louisa.

I think we need some perspective on this El Pibe. I could equally put the case to you, of the many thousands of Brits who invest a week or two of their lives each year travelling to a muddy caravan park in Bognor Regis. Tormented by foul weather and s*it food! and yet they happily send cards back home to friends and relatives claiming to be having 'a good time'. Just because these aliens are intelligent, doesn't mean they don't make mistakes or believe what they are doing is pointless. If I were living on a planet far off in some other galaxy I'd probably find Peckham Rye Park quite an entertaining and nice place to hover my craft. Even though, it's a pointless exercise. Quids that's slightly unfair. I know of at least four rational people who don't live in the mid-west of the USA who've been abducted. A good friend of mine was once found unconscious and lost a good few hours after allegedly being kidnapped by a yellow glowing light. I kid you not. Louisa.

I once saw an oyster cone with Cornish soft scoop in it, whilst on holiday in Looe. I was horrified. Louisa.

The Guardian reading gelato brigade should be force fed mr whippy. You've not lived til you've had a 99er. Louisa.

It's all taking too long like everything seems to in this country and most of us have lost interest now. It's a smelly grotty place that needs raising to the ground ASAP so something more sightly can be put in it's place, creating a more pleasant environment for everyone who lives around works in and uses it to commute. What is it with London being a near impossible place to buy in, and yet for some reason we still have to put up with slummy conditions as part of the deal. I don't get it at all. Louisa.

The Chinese lantern theory is all well and good but I personally think it was more than that. It was hovering in the same spot, not moving. I'm convinced that PR park is an attraction for aliens, I've thought this for years. Not the first time I've seen a UFO. Louisa.

Not a bad first attempt. Louisa.

Haha El Pibe. I struggle understanding people too, but you're right nothing worse than the person who keeps wanting a repeat once the ship has sailed. Louisa.

People in a group situation laughing when they don't even know what is funny, just because everyone else is laughing. Awkward. Embarrassing. Louisa.

SJ well done, you're keeping the wolves at bay. Now let's stop talking about this little boozer before everyone clicks it's real and wants to go. Louisa.

Give me a 99 from a van over a ?4-?6 dairy free gluten free fun free organic ED middle class ice cream any time of the day. Louisa.

Yes so did I. I was out walking the dog at around 1030/11 and I thought I was seeing things. It literally was hovering over the middle of the park somewhere near the Japanese Gardens. Louisa.

Visited the Lions Head tonight. Bit too studenty, artsy, hipster like for me. Good selection of real ale though. Louisa.

The Japanese restaurant rumours are partially true. Not sure if you'd classify a Wagamama as a genuine Japanese restaurant though? Louisa.

Second, eastern wind for Le Moulin (RIP)
Louisa replied to Nigello's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I will be Eric and Margaret's eyes ears nose and taste buds within the first week of the new restaurant opening. I will of course do them proud and report back with my findings. Louisa. -
If ED was on the overground I think most locals would be happy to see a 12 foot high barbwired fence put in place. Louisa.

The application has been granted. Very depressing outcome for the people in the immediate vicinity. The additional reviews of delivery times will be helpful but by this time no doubt an established thriving business will be in place and nothing will come of these so called reviews. More should/could have been done by everyone involved to ensure a positive outcome for everyone. No one is a winner now apart from the freeholder and M&S. Ladies and gentlemen of ED, welcome to your new M&S Simply Food store. Louisa.

Sadness at changing atmosphere of East Dulwich
Louisa replied to vanstone's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm staying out of this one. Louisa. -
ED has grown in confidence as a predominantly family orientated area. LL is therefore losing any attempt it had ten years or so ago to become another 'night out' destination. The likes of Adventure Bar and Drafthouse who would have shown an interest in those early days are no longer viable in this area as families take over from singletons. It's all about Peckham these days for that sort of thing. ED is about food, coffee and gift shops these days. A kind of Northcote Light. This is why the likes of Adventure bar do not work anymore, and Jack Wills, Space NK will follow on behind the cinema. Maybe Adventure bar would work better on Bellenden Road? Louisa.

What is replacing the Old Garden Centre??
Louisa replied to guernseyman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes LM bigger stores eh Walworth Road and Brixton are nearby, but both a nightmare to drive to and get parked up most times especially during rush hour from the village or west Dulwich for example. The LL development would be much easier but still far enough away to probably want to drive. The Alleyns and Dulwich College catchment area will encourage parents after school to use this new convenience store over and above a sainsburys supermarket for example. It's convenience, but it's aimed at a different market and they will use it because it's close enough to drive to and avoid the traffic obstacles of Brixton and Walworth. The Morrisons will not attract this audience of that I'm sure. God only knows what would happen if Waitrose opened up. It would be chaos. Louisa. -
If only Iceland could become an Aldi. Every class would be catered for. Louisa.
