  1. Sounds good to me. Louisa.
  2. In other news I'm on my third glass of Sauvignon and I couldn't give a toss who curls one out on my lawn. Bring it on. Louisa.
  3. Neither did I Jeremy, not Rye Lane itself anyhow, mostly because of the time it seems to be taking to sort the whole station arcade area out. But as you say, new businesses alongside more established ones will help keep the mix about right and hopefully encourage others to reinstate shop fronts on their businesses and clean up the streetscape somewhat. On the point of local businesses, and regardless of whatever personal opinions some may have about them, it seems Khan's Bargains have embraced the restoration of the conservation area, look at this exciting planning application below, and the restoration of the original Holdron shop front including a new illuminated Holdron's department store sign above the 1930s building occupied by Khan's. http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/DocsOnline/Documents/358426_1.pdf Louisa.
  4. http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=9554594 http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/DocsOnline/Documents/361239_1.pdf Another interesting development in Peckham, this time along Rye Lane itself. Despite all the faffing around from various local organisations about cleaning up the station it seems gentrification continues apace and may well be pushing onto the main shopping street. Had a good read up and if it gets planning approval will be nice to see a pub opening up down there after the Bun House, the Hope and the Heaton Arms closures of the last decade. Louisa.
  5. Didn't stop you looking. I love the East Dulwich Forum :-) Louisa.

  7. I always avoided coco pops for good reason. Louisa.
  8. Who's watching this? Typically channel 4, intriguing but it's lacking a bit more depth so far. Tough subject to tackle, but death happens to us all and it's nice to know 4 have injected humour alongside anguish and devastation. Louisa.
  9. West Dulwich somehow feels less grotty than here though. I know we have lots of temporarily vacant units here, but a new seems to be added to that list as each week passes. Just feels rundown, overpriced with crap transport links. As pointed out Brixton/Victoria line is walking distance from West Dulwich. We are walking distance to the Overground, woop woop. Louisa.
  10. West Dulwich because it has massive big houses, it's near umpteen private schools, greenery, the village and it has tennis courts. East Dulwich doesn't even have a space NK I mean, what's the point? Anyone know where to get a nice bit of pizza etc Louisa.
  11. I've had more fun shouting at myself in the mirror these past two weeks. Think we need a bit more salt and pepper in this pot cos it tastes quite bland. Louisa.
  12. Live and let live in a shared public space with loud music? Hmm I see a problem with this. It's like saying live and let live when you see a mother and child picking flowers or live and let live when you see someone's dog do a monster crap that hasn't been cleaned up. Where do we stop with this live and let live philosophy? Outrageous behaviour on a public green. Louisa.
  13. If people really cared about the welfare of Goose Green they would leave the flowers in peace during early pollination during spring and they would not block the footpath with prams. The space is simply not big enough for festivals and fetes, and it's already congested with dog walkers and new age parents with toddlers having picnics on the grass regardless of the weather. Why not make use of some of our other green open spaces? GG has enough to deal with. Louisa.
  14. Who in their right mind sits on goose green? It's a cut through for people in the Bellenden area of Peckham to get to LL, and a toilet for dogs. End of. It seems the smug middle Englanders want to turn it into some sort of village green with fetes and beer festivals. Louisa.
  15. From someone who's seen an elderly man standing outside what was the Hope (now paddy power) on Rye Lane, urinating up against the entrance to the flat next door whilst drunkenly singing to himself. I am now immune to male pissing in the streets. We live in an urban area, all sorts of unsavoury stuff happens and in the grand scheme of things it's not something that's going to make the front page of the South London Press. Louisa.
  16. I'm starting this thread because I want to pay tribute to Middlesex. It ceased to exist as of 1965 on the creation of greater London, which pretty much ate all of the area up to create urban NW London sprawl. Some small rural remainders were chopped up and shared between Surrey, Hertfordshire and Berkshire. Does anyone know what if any cultural aspects of Middlesex still exist? Are the post codes still in existence? Is there a cricket team still? Do any EDF folk hail from a former part of the county? Is anyone old enough to remember the original boundaries? Louisa.
  17. Absolutely. So, who's guilty? What's wrong with homes under the hammer? Pffft Louisa.
  18. I personally think putting the god awful show which made all these people famous in the first place should be put out of its misery. How do ITV justify re-commissioning this tosh year in year out? Louisa.
  19. Does anyone else remember the block of public toilets just by the entrance to goose green play area? It closed down sometime in the early 80s and was eventually pulled down. Considering you have a children's play area and numerous other facilities nearby I find it odd that we have no public convenience nearby. Bizarre. Louisa.
  20. Ok PT thanks for answering at least part of the handful of questions I posed. In answer to soho, it probably stinks of urine because their are stand alone public conveniences aimed at men all over the shop. I know of three near Trafalgar square alone. And they are used regularly. Louisa.
  21. PT where is the local mythical public convenience you speak of? Were you there? Did you hear his excuses? Is it only men now who relieve themselves in the streets? Do we have statistics to prove any of this? Lots of assumptions as per. And cella, I am not ignoring it was a public space. I'm suggesting we don't know his reasons for doing it there, illness or another factor could have come into play? And you suggest his behaviour was antisocial when you were waving a phone at the guy threatening to take photographs. As already mentioned, provocative, not helping to peacefully resolve the situation. Louisa.
  22. What about if you see a dog or cat relieving themselves in the street or someone's garden is that offensive too? How far do we push the boundaries with this? No one is suggesting as far as I can see that regularly taking a number 1 or 2 in the streets is a normal thing to do, and let's face it, it happens so rarely that most wouldn't see it happening anyway. But if a person is extremely desperate and can only find a spot such as this to use then so be it. In that particular area it's probably the least 'public' spot for what is otherwise a relatively public place. They could have used the pub, for whatever reason they didn't, we don't know all the facts. Hell, why are we even having this conversation? Person has a pee up against a wall, and? Louisa.
  23. Oh for goodness sakes. All of you holier than thou hypocrites are you honestly telling me you've never been caught short? Yes it's against the law, yes there's a possible fine blah blah blah. If you are desperate enough to need the loo, and let's say have a medical condition and need to take water tablets and are caught short in an area with no public lavatories you may be forced to find a quiet spot to urinate or else soil your under garments. Mountain out of a molehill. Also, to the OP, why would you not wait until the person finished their business and then politely informe them what they were doing was wrong or maybe ask why they were doing it in a public place? Direct them to a toilet for future reference? It's beyond me this post, sorry. Shouting loudly and waving your phone is provocative surely? Hardly diplomatic. Louisa.

    Eurovision

Conchita has a great vocal range looking beyond the eurovision stereotypes and novelties. Well done. Louisa.
