  1. Hi pickle, glad the flight was a breeze. Fingers crossed your dad won't get it, these bugs are so flipping contagious! Enjoy your kiwi grub!!! x
  2. Here's a few others. I've looked into some holidays travelling on my own with my 1 1/2 year old but they do work out pretty pricey. How about teaming up with a single mum mate and go on holiday, that way you will be 2 adults + 2 children and not have to pay the extra cost of single parent holidays. http://www.singlewithkids.co.uk/ http://www.singleparentsonholiday.co.uk/ http://www.mangokids.co.uk/
  3. We use a Graco travel cot for our toddler who is now 16 months. Very sturdy and easy to put up - but heavy!
  4. I had pethidine and wished I hadn't bothered as it did absolutely nothing. Snowboarder, yes you can have a homebirth after a C section. My midwives (The Lanes) said they would be happy if I wanted to do that for my second even though I had the first at Kings after an unsuccessful homebirth. Must get round to watching the second episode soon. ------------------------------------------------------- > A doctor-friend told me that pethidine is dished > out very readily in hospitals that allow it > because it doesn't require a doctor to be present. > > Apparently provides little to no pain relief in > half of the woman that receive it!
  5. Yes I imagine the main criteria is proximity to the Children's Centre, i.e. an SE15 postcode. I don't think they have been cagey, it's always been their intention to provide a centre for the residents of Peckham/Nunhead.
  6. If you have not been offered a place in the first block, there may be a possibility of a place in the second block of 10 weeks; It is likely that some parents may fail to attend and forfeit their places so it is worth occasionally calling up to see if any slots have come free
  7. we keeps ours on 24 hours a day and no problems so far, it has worked wonders for teething
  8. Get a grip, Mitch. I pay my taxes like the "white middle classes" and haven't been offered a place either, so take your racism elsewhere please MitchK Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The white middle classes are being discriminated > against. Wake up to the fact. We are the ones > paying the taxes but our kids cannot use the > services that these taxes pay for!
  9. Yep it's great for the little ones to sleep in on the move. Same here - always thinking about the next one, but never quite ready for it!!
  10. Hang on, does this mean you are thinking about Baby Number 3? :P
  11. I saw a mum in Gambado's last week with one of these, can't remember the make, it wasn't Eurotote but it looked fab!
  12. I'd hit the probiotics to try and get your tummy back to normal. Udo's infant probiotics are very good for sorting out babies' runny bellies! My small one refuses Dioralyte although flat lemonade is a great tip. Not sure about bread - that is quite bloating and gassy on the stomach, it's pretty hard to digest. Mash would be easier perhaps?
  13. Turkey is a great place to travel with kids, it's very child-friendly there. If you want recommendations for places, PM me and I'll send you details. We went in May last year with out 6 month old. The flight is a manageable 4 hours
  14. Good advice about the nurseries. Even if you're not sure whether you're going back to work, definitely go look at some nurseries now whilst you have the time!
  15. Molly that sounds like the perfect night in, I'm up for that sometime! Of course I'll bring my slippers :P
  16. I'm not around tomorrow after all, am off to see my parents for the weekend.
  17. Yep I know what you mean about the back position, it feels like they are quite low but so far haven't had any wriggling out of it.
  18. I watched a video on how to do it on the Ergo site but didn't try it out at the time, will give it a go. It seemed to require removing the backstrap I think?
  19. I need occasional childcare and use a childminder on Barry Road who is open to babysitting at short notice and for only a few hours here and there, as long as she has the space to accomodate my daughter. Her details: Laureen, 0208 693 7885. I'm self-employed and work from home so often call her up at short notice and so far she's always been able to help me out. She also looks after a few of my friend's children on a similar basis.
  20. Monica at Healthmatters does food and other allergy testing. Her username on here is monica or pop into the shop and speak to her, she's very knowledgeable. Edited to add that Monica is a trained food nutritionist and has various other qualifications, I am sure she can list them for you.
  21. I don't think a teenage boy could be put off sex that easily. So what's happening on next week's show?!
  22. I'm with sillywoman, I think it's a good idea to involve children in childbirth. Should they ever become parents themselves, it will be good preparation. The fact his dad was acting like a total prat may make him a more supportive partner during childbirth.
  23. The ergo has a hood that you can put up when the toddler is asleep to cradle their head or hoodwink them into sleeping! Have a look at some pics here: http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/gallery/sleeping-hood
  24. I feel like I'm part of some cult because I'm always harping on about how great Ergo slings are. They are about 44" at a guess around the hips, the waist extender is probably another 4 inches or so. linkg - how easy is the hip position? I haven't figured that one out yet but need to give it a go as my toddler is a bit heavy to be in the front carrying position for too long now.
  25. Sounds great, wil definitely check it out. When will it be up and running? Am in dire need of places to go that my toddler can rampage around without having to chase after her too much!
