  1. What are the implications of searching people? I've worked in a few places (including my current job) where random spot checks of bags and coats are a standard part of security. It might be something that you need to give notice of, I've no idea about employment law, but it's certainly something that can be done.
  2. Ooh, I'm quite excited about this Roll Deep - but please show me an asterisk and an arabic star side by side so that I can compare and contrast.
  3. I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't get to make my joke, so I'm going to do it anyway even though no one asked - Ivo Robic (the accent didn't translate in cut and paste) wrote Strangers in the Night: "Strangers in the night exchanging glances, scooby-dooby-do..."
  4. From my point of view, I certainly wasn't thinking of anyone in particular and wouldn't single anyone out - I get it a lot in emails as well as reading it all over the place on here. I appreciate that I'm an old fuddy duddy who doesn't like punctuation faces (for me, far far worse than asterisks) and actually those chinking glasses faces or the thumbs up only make me want to punch people. For this I am seeking therapy. :)-D

  6. Me too Anna, but when you've had neat Dettol poured over a huge gory wound (because your mum's not home and dad doesn't really know how you're supposed to deal with such things), it kind of loses its appeal...
  7. Had a Dettol bath once after a bad go-karting incident - it really fucking hurt - I'd rather risk the dirty dirty residue.
  8. Ivo Robi?
  9. brum Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh for pity's sake what a load of fuss over > nothing. Whole purpose of the Lounge surely, Brum...? You like to chat about blowjobs in parked cars, others like to chat about writing style. A chacun son gout, as someone wrote on the Burka thread.
  10. To be honest, I don't really care that much: they grate on me personally but in the same way that I have come to overlook the tinny beats emanating from cheap headphones on the bus, I let smilies and asterisks wash over me. So no Brum, no negativity to release *reads Quids' post and rushes off to check whether 'erudite' or 'methinks' have appeared in any of my own posts recently* ;-)
  11. Man, am so envious now - Keef, can you resurrect it one more time?
  12. irrational schmirrational - the English language is a glorious thing - but too much smiley action or *kisses the ground you walk on* renders it repetitive and monotonous as an aid to understanding, well, I don't like them but I can see their purpose (even if I'd rather people attempted to say what they meant in the first place) - but as the whole means of communication - tedious
  13. it is annoying
  14. I'll second Bare Groove for a bit of a boogie. But would just ask the question, does it have to be one or the other? Nice to have a DJ spinning a few party favourites (like Bare Groove though I do, I can't imagine them doing Hit Me Baby One More Time - or have I missed something fairly spectactular..?) Or even set up a playlist on an ipod and have a live band (think you can set it so that they mix into each other rather than having a gap between songs, or have I imagined that?)
  15. Frankly I bloody would David.
  16. Ted Max Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "We object to people telling women they have to > dress a certain way. So we're going to counter > that by telling these women that they have to > dress a certain way." I agree to a certain extent Ted, but I don't think it's that simple. Yes, it seems absolutely counter-intuitive, and I would resent the idea of the state telling me what to wear. But I also agree with Izodia - I do think the Burka is repressive and perhaps state intervention, and enshrining it in law gives certain women a chance to take it off, where otherwise they wouldn't have the opportunity.
  17. Can I come and we can sing Kum Ba Ya?

Beautiful Quids - I'm nicking that
  19. We heart you. Really do - banishing scepticism all over the show. But bring your own vinyl next time!

Yes, I have a litre and a half of gin, and not being a big gin drinker, am contemplating the sloes - any ideas where they are to be found?
  21. And I'm godmother to a catholic child while not being catholic myself (they didn't ask if I was atheist)

What's that you say? You mean you don't like Alexandra Burke?
  23. Good luck katie - have high hopes for you. And KidKruger, yes, my post didn't set out to shock. Sex is of course important, but my romantic soul would rather employ a little imagination to be with (however remotely) the person I care about than go out to seek gratification elsewhere.
  24. Oh yes, yes, a Gable. That's a super moustache.
  25. And to think that I have particularly waxed my moustaches on their say-so...
