Oh come on Chinese people of East Dulwich - you know we all want to see it happen...
  2. Uncle Ben's rice is rubbish - if you want microwave rice, I recommend Veetee - can't remember what but some patented technology makes it more like proper rice.
  3. That's what I'm getting at - I'm not sure I could legally eat a pet horse. I believe that is the difference in this case - the rats were tame and owned. Sorry, didn't mean to touch an Irish nerve with the horse eating - know they're to you what cows are to Hindus.
  4. PET rat Sean, PET rat. I think we're not allowed to eat our pets. So, if I own a horse for the riding thereof, I cannot eat it. BUT. If I own a horse specifically for the production of dog food, I CAN eat that if times get really really hard.
  5. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Most importantly. Did people dress up for this one > as Rosie had hoped? Ha, other people did and looked fecking gorgeous. I failed because I was tardy and had no time, so now I feel I have let you down Mick, I have let the forum down, but mostly, just let myself down.
  6. Ah, apologies - was probably a one-off offer in November or summat to get them in the papers
  7. tonyw3 - maybe leave it to the people involved eh, instead of shit stirring? Meantime, perhaps we should all try this
  8. ratty, ain't you never heard of welly boots? what are they for if not jumping in puddles?

It seems that Ladymuck and AnnaJ are quite capable of sorting this out themselves and that LM's post was designed to clear things up rather than start name calling in her honour.
  10. B&Q have been identified as cheapest in the various newspaper stories (think you can get a 4 foot tree for about ?8.99) But I like the lovely people at Plantnation who will bring it round to my house for me.
  11. But what about the anonymous flavourings? And HAL, have you ever bought any kind of pre-prepared food before? A jar of Dolmio versus a home made sauce for instance - 9 times out of 10 it's going to be way cheaper to make it yourself (exception being where you don't have the requisite spices in the cupboard and have to start from scratch). Buying convenience is all it is.
  12. Pah, what's the matter with you all? The rain's what makes this such a green and pleasant land. You want to get yourselves a nice cagoule and go and splash about a bit. Or if not, it's the perfect weather for staying indoors all cosy.
  13. Rod Liddle - utter c**t.
  14. Yay, tis the season of goodwill to all men.
  15. Ooh, and on the subject of looking resplendent, giggirl, meant to come over and introduce myself and somehow failed. But resplendent is the very word. I seem to be having some kind of love in today. I don't know what's come over me.
  16. You a granny? Well then, I'd second that.
  17. Ah, I took that to be tongue-in-cheek DM persona Mick. It was the exclamation mark what swung it.
  18. Mick, I'm with Jah on this - DM, I thought that was a great post: lucid, humane and spot on. I've caught up on this thread with a growing sense of bemusement at what seems to be an increasingly hysterical mien. I'm not naive, I know that this is what discussions of religion bring about. But I think the post above showed nothing but class.
  19. I thought you looked rubbish and were very dull actually. Oh wait, no, it wasn't me what did the snubbin. Fabulous indeed and a very foxy dress if I may say so... Actually, a lot of people were looking terrific last night, and I'm pretty sure that wasn't just my beer goggles. Have woken up with sore feet and my hands smell of kebab - excellent night, exactly what the doctor ordered.
  20. Why does this thread title make me want to say, jennifer, alison, philippa, sue, deborah, annabel too?
  21. Michael Praed should have been mine. Oh he should. But I was illegal and he now narrates Mills & Boon audiobooks.
  22. Christ, people really thought you liked Clinique...

Spurious tosh. Fought and suffered to pass on their genes my arse - because ALL babies have been strenuously planned? And all those without kids are making a contemporary life-style choice?
  24. One question Anna - were they kept in their boxes in a dark drawer? If they've been exposed to sunlight, they will have gone off after a couple of years - people may still want them though...
  25. Evie has won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize for her novel After the Fire, the Still Small Voice, but according to The Telegraph has no plans to leave her job at Review books. Yet another reason to love that bookshop. I'm going to go out this weekend and buy a copy (assume it's stocked at Review?) Congratulations Evie, this has made me feel very happy this morning.
