  1. I too quite enjoy Driving Home for Christmas - I know it's not cool, but when it comes to Christmas, I am resolutely uncool. In fact, I would like to state my case here and now - I love Wonderful Christmas Time, Mull of Kintyre, Pipes of Peace and even the ruddy Frog Chorus. I'm Rosie and I heart Christmas cheese (in fact, that may be the name of one of the many Christmas albums I own). Destestables include Whigfield's Last Christmas, any variety of Maria-esque warbly soul bastardisations of classic Christmas pop, I don't mind Mistletoe and Wine but Saviour's Day and The Lord's Prayer are pretty diabolical. Oh, I think there's a Michael Bolton one too. Ugh.
  2. She's pushing her luck - but is there not an element of complicity in the parent / offspring relationship where you pretend you believe that she'll be safely tucked up in bed at her mate's by 11pm?
  3. Was just kidding because I'm bored.
  4. So this is the one where everyone's glamming up, right?
  5. Cheeky Mick, cheeky. But seriously, I do think it's cynical. Why in case the bus driver "forgets" to hand it in, rather than in case anyone was wondering where they'd lost it? If the passenger managed to hand it in without stealing it, why wouldn't the driver? Maybe I'm utterly naive...
  6. That's cynical neilson - I have left a suitcase full of expensive stuff on a 63 before now and it was all still there when I went to collect it. The driver seemed to have no problem handing it in...
  7. Not to mention a few cool nights out (or too cool for ED folkses?)
  8. Mick, are you deliberately trying to sabotage hotandsingle's chances by sending him to the bar the day AFTER the drinks?
  9. See, I clicked on that link and it just made me mad, because the very first quotation that came up had a missing apostrophe. I may need a drink to get over it.
  10. If this is like secondary school pbateman, are you the bitter kid with acne who's about to get himself a Matrix leather coat from Camden and go postal on our sorry asses?

    Factory Tours

I have toured the Mars, Kettle Chips and Veetee rice factories (the chips were the best - hot off the line) as well as the Santus sweet factory as a kid. Santus was magical, a bit wonka-like with boiling vats of sugary goo and massive coloured swathes of molten toffee that would later become pear drops and mint balls. That said, it's in Wigan, so probably a bit far...
  14. Yep yep yep - busy as arse - I have surmised (perhaps incorrectly) that it's because there seems to be a longer wait for each bus too, both on the way there and back. Don't know if the Forest Hill terminus is now a regular thing, but it's been at least twice in the last few days.
  15. Peter Cornelius's - soaring, beautiful
  16. 'bout now - glad you came on here, that's a tough one to struggle with on your own. Many wise words above, but I would think about talking to your brother before you look at potentially seeking out your sister. It's a burden to struggle with a family secret alone (as no doubt your mum knew only too well) - this is a lot for you to process on your own and if you and he are close, perhaps talking to your brother would be some support for both of you. Good luck.
  17. Oh dear, I didn't mean to suggest that I don't think there are any heroes any more - it's just that the spate of "whatever happened to..." threads put the song in my head, and then all the other songs too - Ted, I assume yours was the Bonnie Tyler, although I cannae see it on here. But yes, outed good and proper - I love that song, and yes Anna, I too can feel his approach like a fire in the blood. Tell you what though - Anna threw a bit of a curve ball with Calling All the Heroes - really wasn't expecting that! In other news, Camilla Batmanghelidjh rates pretty high on my hero list
  18. There are no more heroes any more.

  21. Can everyone on here really say they've never cyber-stalked someone? The thing that BBW did was to boast about it and reference personal info on here, which was gauche but hardly criminal. That said, for those people who are naturally less solipsistic or choose to put themselves about on cyberspace less than I do, the thought of being outed is not necessarily fun. The guy's been banned for poor behaviour, not poor character. I would argue the two things are not the same.
  22. Keef, wait til you turn 36 - the realisation that I am now in my late thirties rather took me by surprise this year
  23. A fecking massive bendy bus to take everyone who's never been outside the SE22 borders to visit the host of shops and services that lie beyond Edited for reasons to do with sobriety
  24. My friend of ages past fancies him. We are no longer friends.
