  1. Oh my god - I remember this now. Legendary (I too had been confused about CrystalClear and taken him for a lady until that shot of him at the bus stop). Nice work fellas.
  2. Pray tell - what did he do that was caddish? I'm all aquiver with anticipation. This is a very promising story that can distract me from writing a tedious board report in an empty office. As for the chair - nice idea, but I'm a bit concerned about the possible combustible qualities when man-made fibres are exposed to high levels of friction. Could be a scenario in which the lamentable KoL Sex on Fire song really comes into its own.
  3. I was in my Merrell hiking boots and nearly fell on my arse, so MASSIVE kudos giggirl. And daizie, that's not bad going either. And Laroon, what a lovely post for the season of goodwill to all. I am always delighted by our NHS, and have seldom met with anything other than professionalism, compassion and friendliness. On the subject of lovely NHS people, if I may, I would like to add my own personal shout-out to a nurse at the Chadwick Road surgery. Above and beyond and radiant levels of loveliness don't even begin to cover it.
  4. Went the long way round and went to Tesco. Pefectly average, but hopefully the recipients will find some use for it (I did see a nice recipe for sparkling jellies that would be rather lovely)
  5. Sadly nowt interesting - was only trying to find out where to get a decent bottle of wine between Peckham bus garage and Maxted Road - just knew it should have gone in the Wanted section. However as I was already late and on said bus, I thought there'd be more traffic in the Lounge so I'd get an answer in time. Quids quite rightly pointed out that it was not "just this once" that I have abused the forum in this way. As I was having a pretty bad day and was a bit touchy, I deleted it. Prosaic and dull really - sorry to disappoint.
  6. I am found - safe and sound on my sofa. Quids has shown me the error of my ways and for that I am humbly thankful (and rather less crotchety now than 3 hours ago). PGC, I had thought I was anything but a lush tonight - however it was making up for some rather lush-like behaviour over the weekend (including, but not limited to, my new drink - a combination of Pedro Ximenez and dark rum) so your point remains valid. And giggirl, I know it. My new year's resolution - get a cleaner. Brum - not a hope. Mick - it's very easy to get lost in the badlands beyond Peckham bus garage. And Sharon_H, thank you for actually trying to be helpful - very kind. And merry Christmas.
  7. ????, quite so, quite so
  8. For I have sinned
  9. Cowell wins. I think he may have read "The Prince".
  10. Sorry to highjack PR, but can I add another itunes question. To save space on my crappy old laptop, I transferred my entire itunes library over to my external hard drive. I dropped said hard drive and now it seems to be fecked. Is there a way I can transfer what's on my ipod back onto my laptop, or onto a new external drive. They don't make it easy do they?
  11. I dress my tree sipping a little PX and shaking it to a lot of Elvis: pure Christmas filth and quite quite delicious.
  12. What *Bob* said - the rumours are that Cowell had a hand in it
  13. I still weep over an episode of Stars in their Eyes where a contestant sang Jailhouse Rock in full '68 Comeback Special black leather.

    Cooking Steak

This is quite the most peculiar method I've ever heard of cooking a steak - am intrigued. Hal, for a rare / medium rare, would the juices not be bloody if you pierce it (and if you pierce it during the cooking process, do you not lose all the juices)? And more to the point, how on earth did you come across this method of cooking? Were you travelling in the arctic and came across a baby mammoth steak frozen in the ice?

Most important point, let it rest a couple of minutes before you eat it - mmm, all the bleeding juice...
  17. Ah yes, all good and lovely carols, but I was thinking of more general songs (not carols, which you would expect to be in Latin). The two I mentioned were Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - was our end of term "treat"
  18. HAL, do you know what the deal is with dairy? Assume dairy cattle eat equivalent grain..?
  19. Mass was so much more fun..?
  20. I AM a queen of my sex, and you, sir, are incorrect.
  21. Well I don't know all the ins and outs, but would question the merits of vegetarianism as opposed to veganism one day a week, because surely dairy herds are as methaneful/ wasteful of resources as meat herds? Actually, entirely possibly not - would be interested if anyone knows the answer...
  22. Tinniunt, tinniunt, tintinabula - altogether now... or Rudolphus naso rubro, naso nitidissimo... Why is it still in my head after 20 years? When the best Christmas song ever is quite clearly
  23. Lummy - someone's got to drop you off something better to read than your cooking boxes!

I don't disagree - just wondering why single out Wanchai as opposed to any other processed food on the market. I very much doubt they're any worse...
