  1. Narnia, I got carried away with myself - I should have typed "some" rather than "many". In fact, ahma go back and do that now...
  2. No way Axeman's Mike - unless Mike has spent every hour god sends since his unfortunate Nunhead ramblings at the school of spelling and rhetoric and didacticism. Axeman, you were quite rude, but no ruder I think than some people already on here - so I'm going to go against the flow and not tell you to f@ck off. I think you're right to say there's insincerity on here, but you're wrong to assume that nobody really likes each other - they do - and axe or no, they'll hack you to pieces if you suggest otherwise. Anyway, for my part, welcome, with one massive caveat. Pronouncing yourself the Chief Whip and talk of "putting the stick about" is the kind of pomposity that suggests you're masturbating furiously in front of both a mirror and your computer screen. So, you know, don't.

Whereas the Tories have adopted an anarchist Big Society ideology. Oh the irony...
  6. erm, surely this tops it, Mick...
  7. Yes.
  8. Since Ed Miliband was declared leader, 726 new people have joined Labour.
  9. I was in a right bad mood last night and feeling depressed about the state of our nation and some of the comments above only reinforced that. However, the sun's shining, Ed Miliband was great (if careful) on Andrew Marr this morning. The notion that he's a retard is, in itself, retarded. Neither is he ugly. I do agree that he maybe needs a little coaching in the oleaginous ways the British public seem to demand from their politicians, but he has years in opposition to hone his soundbite. Christ, Cameron doesn't have Blair's charisma and is a massive-foreheaded oily gimp, but he got in, and in comparison Ed Miliband is an intellectual giant and adonis. I feel altogether optimistic.
  10. That stoned people are not thieving bastards. They are. I should know, I've been one.
  11. And that's exactly what depresses the fuck out of me Mick. Bring back Michael Foot.
  12. Oh Narnia, you're wrong there. Munchie raids are very very common in halls - especially if you're in someone else's and you're not nicking from your neighbours.
  13. david_carnell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Or to try and second guess the entire electorate. Err, Boris? Come on David, we're not the French - we're not a nation of natural left-wingers. Blair only got in because he appealed to nice middle class Mail readers. If we can just get Ed a few stints on Have I Got News For You and Lorraine, we might be laughing.
  14. Narnia, it's not funny, but it is fairly mundane and par for the course for university halls. I know as his dad, you'll be feeling the righteous indignation keenly, but he'll live. And he'll develop cunning and guile.
  15. Ludicrous David? The point that I'm making is that your typical cuntybollocks voter isn't going to watch more than a soundbite before making their decision. I think it's a sorry state of affairs that you need to be charismatic and photogenic to get voted into power but there we are. I'm sure he has the wit and hopefully the advisors around him to groom him into what the British public want from a PM.

So Axeman, you don't want to come round and keep me company then? Although you actually make an interesting point - for some people that is exactly the point, but we is local like and some of us likes each other.
  17. Narnia, bless you and your boy, but let me tell you: while they may not be suspects right now, EVERYONE nicks stuff out of each other's fridges at some point over their time at university. Whether it's the demon weed giving them munchies, the discovery that they have no milk for their cereal, or the realisation that all they have for their stir fry is an onion, at some point, some of those lovely kitchen mates are going to steal Sprogg's food. I hope he's up to the heartbreak that will inevitably ensue.
  18. Ed is the best of the bunch policy and principle-wise. Problem is, he's pretty unelectable. Perhaps 4 years in opposition can fit him for purpose.
  19. Christ I'm depressed.
  20. Mick, your opening salvo was about Neil Kinnock talking about making the party electable. As you don't actually proffer an opinion, it's for us to guess at what you're getting at, but for me, it came across that electability rather than principle was somehow to be sniffed at. And yet, and yet: here we have an opposition leader who will go back to "left wing wilderness". Perhaps I was wrong in my original inference, but what's a leader to do? As long as we all value smarm over principle we'll have an unelectable opposition, and be governed by a bunch of elitist, self-interested c*nts. And you know what? We deserve no better.
  21. It's weird, everyone recommending Tesco on here. I've never had anything but bad experiences with Tesco (4 hours late, 50% substitutions, refusal to bring them up my steps to my door) but maybe they've got better since.
  22. Ooh, this is very exciting indeed. Gonna get me in there.
  23. Am guessing it's transport to the school innit? (may be wrong, have based this on the fact that I used to get the coach to school).
  24. I've never had a problem, but then I use them very seldom. Complain to customer services and ask for some compensation - frankly, after this length of time, they should be offering you your shopping for free (if you can point out what your time is worth and how long you've waited in wasting it, I'm quite sure it'll cover the cost of the shop). I've always found Ocado reliable.
  25. Gotcha. Excellent idea - anyone who would like to trade skills, do apply here.
