  1. oops just saw that Andrew's number is wrong, it is +07730 747 900
  2. thanks for that, was thinking for walking it once a week so will try that! : )
  3. Hi I agree with nxjen, I go to LL once a week for a coffee and then pop into 2-4 shops. 20-30 mins isn't enough to do more than 1 thing and the beauty of LL is that there are so many different types of ashopping that you want to go into a number of shops! So increasing restricted shopping to 1 hour is helpful but changing unrestricted parking to restricted is not helpful as 1 hour is not enough time for a coffee and 3-4 shops. Yes I could walk but then the walk back with heavy (if 1 stop was supermarket or fruit & veg or book shop or great find at charity shop) bags is not great. So while I usually walk if only going to one place I do drive for my weekly shop. Please dont put in restricted parking in unrestricted areas! Worse case scenario is to do what they do around Herne Hill & Kings and only have restrictions from 12- 14:00 so that stops commuters parking all day but allows locals to visit.
  4. Hi sorry for late response forgot to click on "send replies" button. Help-Ma-Boab: I walked down past Kings hospital, left on to Camberwell New Road and then strainght, past Oval, Vauxhall, across Vauxhall Bridge. I double-checked timings on the Map My Run app on my phone and saw that I started it from Denmark Hill station so add more time for Peckham Rye. Still worth it! Jeremy: see above Jessie: see above and I walked fast, an average pace of 7.1 kph Someone I know lives on Ondine and works in Pimlico and walks there and back every day. She says it takes her 45 mins each way. Her points were that it was much more pleasant then overcrowded public transportation; it is healthy exercise; it is free; and you know exactly how long it will take unlike breaking down buses/trains/cars/burst pipes etc. Must say that after trying it I was pleasantly surprised and would do it again except when it is raining!
  5. Just a quick follow up post to say that we are very happy with County Flat Roofing. They did a great job and we really notice the huge improvement made by the insulation they put down. Highly recommend them! Happy to show their work to anyone. 3 neighbours subsequently used them after seeing the work they did for us!
  6. Hi, we've used Jim for the past 12 years in 3 different houses. He's local, reliable, reasonable & friendly. His number is 07790 305825
  7. Hi we used Ricardo to clear tons of paving slabs & cobbles from our garden. Our gardener Kate recommended him. He was very reasonable and hard working. Only thing is that he doesn't have a car so you need to supply the tools & skip if needed. His number is 07871 315308.
  8. Hi a friend and 2 neighbours used Bromley Blinds (based in ED) and all 3 were very happy with them. I asked Ruth and she said to call Andrew on 07769 881322.
  9. Walked to Victoria, quite good, took 40 mins. Def worth doing if transport is stuffed. LOVE walking across the bridges in London, I never get tired of the views! : )
  10. Hi James, wondered if you had an update as I hadn't realised that Sainsburys were responsible for locking/unlocking St Francis park. It is still locked around 10-11am Sunday mornings which is really frustrating as I can't walk thru there on a regular basis. Thanks
  11. Hi Doodle, its because I've found it difficult to find good tradespeople that I have been recommending ones when they turn out to be good. Just wanted to help others who might need the same things.
  12. Hi wanted to add a couple of more recommendations for people we used. DG Splashbacks made glass splashbacks for our kitchen and they were great. Best price I could find, family run business in Kent, friendly & good quality product. Highly recommend them. Their website is dgsplashback.com and the number is 01580 753 879. Garden labourer: Ricardo 07871 315308. We needed (very heavy ) paving slabs removed and our gardener recommended Ricardo. He was great. Friendly, polite, hard-working & tidy. He doesn't have a car so you need to provide the tools if necessary. I will use him again when we need to do more heavy work in the garden.
  13. The French House & The Crooked Well are both very dog friendly.
  14. Thanks for the posting, have filled in the form supporting the Camberwell - Peckham extion. Said that there is already terrible congestion on both the Walworth & Camberwell New Roads so buses are a mess during rush hour and the the trains and Overground are also over-crowded. Just looking at how the Overground Line has immediately become so packed shows the huge need for better transportation links. Have also said that do not support extending past Lewisham as if it goes into Bromley/Hayes the carriages just get packed with commuters leaving zone 2 residents stuck with existing overcrowded carriages. Also said that TFL can not be only guided by prospects of developers funding future works as this skews things badly, leaving developed areas even more neglected. In further suggestions said that extending Victoria Line from Brixton to Herne Hill/Camberwell/or Denmark Hill would be good.
  15. Hi we use Jim McAllister 07790 305825 and he's local and very good, used him for 3 houses so far : )
  16. hi, for our previous house I got beautiful reconditioned radiators from Casa on Bellenden Road & from Castrads (.com). Tjey were a pleasure to look at and very powerful, chucked out so much more heat then our previous modern rads.
  17. yup Alpine Dry Cleaners (sorry couldn't remember name in spite of having used them for years : o) and as Giuli said the dry cleaners are very good too!
  18. my sister used the dry cleaners on Grove Vale (3-4 away from Blackbird Bakery, on the way to ED station) and they did a great job on shortening the length and sleeves
  19. Hi we are getting our flat roof redone by County Flat Roofing who were recommended to me by an architect who uses them. Great product that lasts 50 years and they specialise in flat roofing! Call Paul Farrelly on 07973 414667 if you want a quote. Best of luck, I hate water problems!
  20. Hi, I posted a recommendation a few weeks ago as we had similar work done... recommendations following our house renovations... Posted by Dun July 31, 10:19PM Hi, having just gone through a big house renovation I'd like to pass on some good trademen we have used. Builders: Valdex; very good, came in on budget and early even tho we added more jobs along the way; happy to show the work they've done for us (gutted and redid 2 bathrooms; replaced water pipes from street all through the house; new boiler; new electrics; underfloor heating on ground floor; moved kitchen from one end of the house to the other. Bathrooms: Bells on Lordship Lane, fantastic, after looking at CP Hart and 2 others I found Bells were able to supply most items at a good price and quickly! Very helpful and great with all my questions. Kitchen counter: again Bells on Lordship Lane. They had the best price by far for quartz counters. Again Marc was very helpful & friendly, highly recommend going to them. Sliding doors: from SKG in Bromley. They were great, friendly, helpful and did great job installing these amazing doors from Sunflex, made in Germany. Material Plans: tile distributer based in Forest Hill. Very friendly & helpful too with supplying us with gorgeous tiles from Royal Mosa Porcelanosa: gorgeous tiles from the showroom in Croydon (Purley Way); Gloria was very helpful! The Natural Wood Floor Company: again another great company, fantastic product and a very good price. Feel free to message me if you'd like more details but wanted to share this as so many people were so helpful when I was doing all my initial research.

  22. Having just sold and bought I would say that I dealt w KFH Forest Hill to sell and they were very good but neighbours used them afterwards and said they were terrible - go figure. I used both W&S and GJM when looking and was very impressed with Tony, he was friendly & knowledgable and not pushy. Just about all the other EA on LL were quite lackadaisical, I had to follow up and enquire about new properties for the most part. : ( One thing I would say is when selling is to get a 2-3 week contract because they will have called all their list and gotten them in for viewings in that period and if no one is interested then the house goes "off the boil". And finally, think of the whole process as similar to childbirth, a pain when you are going through it but once over and you are in your new home the result is well worth it and the pain lessens with time : ) Good luck!
  23. Hi, that's fine. If you wanted you could try the architect our previous neighbour used. He went to Cambridge with her brother in law and specialises in domestic projects, his name is Piuey and his numnber is 07980 302345. I was impressed with the job he did for them in Dunoon ROad SE23.
  24. We used The Natural Wood FLoor Co in Battersea, beautiful wood, http://www.naturalwoodfloor.co.uk/contact-us
