  1. Here's mine, one Saturday, Bugglet (then about 11mths) in baby carrier me power walking (running late to get to Bea's bab bop) down Whatley Road & trip on tree root & go flying...On touching Bugglet's head I find blood & apart from being stunned/unable to get up I'm not really aware of the state of my knees & hands (esp knees). woman appears helping me up despite her baby being in the car across the road & having seen this am taken in by a lovely pair of ladies who live opposite where I fall despite having other house guests/being about to go out. They help me clean up Bugglet (who had v minor graze to head) and let me try & clean my knees up (brushing off their suggestions I go to A&E!). While looking slightly confused I didn't want/like tea, they were amazing & let me get sorted before driving back to hubbie (who I'd tried to call but hadn't heard as he'd been in the bath!) I wish I'd noted their address/names so I could've properly thanked them with a card/flowers. Weirdly the first lady that helped me turned out to be a neighbour (we'd recently moved) so did get to thank her. Think it's unlikely the other ladies will read this, but if they are out there - Thank you xx
  2. Ok, so far longer than 9mths after Bugglet's arrival I've signed up to online WW to try & shift the many excess pounds, but, am I missing something? Signed up & downloaded iPhone/iPad apps but don't feel there's much info on how to structure my food through the day. I can see the site advertise packs to buy with what looks like the bits I think I'm missing (recipe book/eating out advice etc) but is it a bit of a swindle/anyone willing to lend me bits till I know what I'm doing?! Or is there more info on the website rather than the apps?
  3. Cripes - nearly got a Family ticket for this (friend had won tickets but couldn't get to London) really glad we didn't take it up!
  4. Just been on hols & a couple of our friends had quit but were using the electronic cigarettes, gave them the nicotine without any of the other crap & interestingly they found they'd only need one or two puffs to head off the craving (unlike having to have a whole cigarette as not wanting to "waste" any).
  5. Wow.... Thank you all for the lovely comments about me and the rest of the Paeds ED Team. I'll try and work out how to let those mentioned know without sounding boastful about my thread :) Visiting ED is such a stressful time for families that we don't expect lots of praise (to use a cliche we're just doing our jobs) but when we do it makes us feel several inches taller. Thanks again xx PS Goodliz - I'm very proud to have you as a good friend too!
  6. Hmm... If he wasn't so camp maybe - even watching torchwood he always seems only milliseconds away from jazz hands and a show tune (which I'd love but just don't look for in eye candy :) )
  7. Might be worth checking if Kings College Hospital have any vacancies in their nurseries - preference given to kings/NHS staff, but believe if there is space they offer out beyond that remit. They have 3 nurseries over the Kings site, Bugglet has been attending for 6 mths and seems to love it.
  8. Had a look at the website & looks good. As Bugglet's only 1.5yrs and we're only needing it for the one night, it's more the baby listening service that appeals rather than the sporting activities (might have yo take swimming things though!). Thank you v much for the suggestion Echo x

  10. No... Strict baptists so at their place of worship... No info on accomodation sent with the invite, will look up the hotel you've suggested - have googled baby friendly hotels/b&b's Cardiff but not had that come up.
  11. Have a family wedding (so bugglet warmly welcome) to attend just outside of Cardiff in July, planning on driving back the night of the wedding as the next day is my birthday, plus hoping journey back'll be quicker/Bugglet'll sleep. But, this means our plan is to head down the day before so I'm not stuck doing both legs in one day & to give us chance to break the journey up a bit & I can't find anything that really fits the bill accommodation wise. Don't think I'm being that fussy - want a room for the 3 of us in a b&b or hotel which also has somewhere Mr Buggie & I can go to once bugglet settled so we don't all end up in bed @ 8pm!! Have tried googling but nothing much coming up/inspiring :(
  12. A favourite in ours (albeit not a complete meal) is to get a gammon ham, add approx a can worth of cherry coke & cook on high for 6-8hrs - great for sandwiches or with veg for dinner. In a similar vein, a whole roast chicken with 1/2 cup of orange juice & 1/2 cup of honey, again on high for 6-8hrs, serve with tender stem broccoli & rice with some of the juices as sauce - yummy (oh & spare chicken for sandwiches the next day again).
  13. Just in case it's not too large, went for lunch to Roca in DV for lunch at the w/e & commented to Mr Buggie how it looked like it'd make a good date night choice, plus you've then got The Dog next door for a drink before home time :-)
  14. We went to Roca in Dulwich Village today with our 18mth old and loved it, was really baby friendly without shouting it from the rooftops - our daughter was charmed by (and charming back!) all the waiting staff and had a really relaxing lunch, hoping to return soon and think they might have space to accommodate larger groups.
  15. I really love my Clinique chubby stick - it's a non sticky lip gloss - more like a lip stick, I use it at work & makes me feel nice evenin the middle of a busy shift :)
  16. Thanks for the tip MM - would likely book in advance as would need to sort childcare & getting to the tkts booth with toddler in tow would be mildly challenging!! Aren't there special offers for Southwark residents at The Old Vic anyway though?
  17. > I'm struck by how weird (to me) it seems that the > OP's MiL was contacted by the groom's mum, re the > OP's children at the wedding. I know large > weddings can be complicated, but shouldn't the > bride and groom speak to guests about this > personally to avoid confusion? And, if they've > said it's ok to have children there, then why > aren't there any accommodations being offered? > That sounds to me like they don't actually want > children there. But is it the bride and groom > that don't want children, or is it the groom's > mother? Very confusing. I agree Saffron (accidental wiped your name off the top!), but despite sending out lots of useful info and making it clear that Mr Buggie and I were doing all the organising, several family members contacted my Mum meaning she ended up having to pass these requests on (mainly wanting to wrangle invites for cousins partners - who'd been invited to the evening do only) rather than contact me directly - really annoyed me as think they knew they were pushing their luck but thought coming from my Mum would make me relent - it didn't! Regarding children - as the eldest grandchild on both sides of the family and with cousins as young as 3yrs At the time, I always knew and planned to have children attend, I loved going to family occasions as a child and would have been really upset to miss out. Also, most guests were having to travel a few hours from home to attend and so excluding their children would have made attending difficult/stressful for them - organising a wedding causes enough stress on the B&G, needed unstressed guests to balance! Always find it strange that it's often said how those without children would see things differently once/if they were parents and yet the amount of times these sorts of issues come up, they never seem to take heed of the advice offered ( not aimed at the OP who has it sounds done a sterling job in tricky circumstances)
  18. Otta - liquid ventolin is a big no-no these days!! Really ineffective - had never seen it till I worked in ED (where the GP's had prescribed it & children were brought in as they'd worsened/not improved). "Wasting" puffs to help her get use to it is fine, would try to avoid puffing it before its near her as don't think she'd get much - if it's causing this much stress should at least ensure she inhales enough to be effective. Being a bit older would sticker/reward chart or even 1/2 a chocolate button after each dose help? Also remember you can pause & compose yourselves between each "puff" (should only have one puff in the spacer at any time anyway). Hope she's feeling better today & fingers crossed she'll be off this v soon x
  19. Friend of mine who uses ebay alot, always talks about shipleys.com roughly you put the job on there & different couriers bid for the job trying to out-underbid each other (yup, think I made that phrase up but you know what I mean!).
  20. Just out of interest (& know this is more a question for classifieds!) Does anyone have one their confiding selling/would maybe even be prepared to lend for a w/e so I can show hubbie how fab they are :)) use a Mclaren Quest at the mo but the recline is appalling & we're off to Corfu in a month & think the big sunshade and recline would hugely helpful!
  21. As ClareC says, hope you were given a spacer to use with it otherwise very little will be inhaled by your daughter. Maybe by encouraging her to put stickers on the spacer, use it to give favourite teddies or dolls dosages. If no spacer given contact GP asap in the morning and maybe ask (if it is croup - has she had noise when breathing in rather than out?) whether oral dexamthasone would be of benefit rather than an inhaler. HTH's x
  22. I'd forgotten about this thread, saw Absent Friends last w/e and loved it - fantastic cast performances and appropriately for the Harold Pinter Theatre some bottom clenching pauses!! Annoyingly it's into it's final week now so possible too late to recommend, but if you do get a chance go. MM - any idea how long Noises Off is running for? Saw it in the West End about 10yrs ago but would love to take Mr Buggie who hasn't seen it & looked a bit confused but interested as I tried to explain the premise!
  23. Ah yes Duchess - saw it after a friend linked to the YouTube clip of it... Really didn't do herself any favours & annoyed me so much it was one of the few times I've been able to watch Eamonn Holmes without wanting to throw something at him
  24. Has anyone done the family swim sessions at Crystal Palace pool?? The timings seem more flexible than at Peckham & thinking of giving it a try on Sunday.
