  1. Went last year & loved it... Bugglet quite liked it too!
  2. It's annoying in that they don't take under 2yrs, but Bugglet is really happy at Puddleduck & the staff there are all lovely - she was in a work place nursery for a year beforehand & is noticeably more settled at Puddleduck.
  3. Has anyone been to Sensatori Tenerife yet?! We're thinking of booking there & for our chosen wk only got twin rooms available - Any idea how big the beds are in a twin room?!

  5. Putting Vaseline around scabs a few times a day can help soften them a little bit (think the amount you'd put on as lip balm) and stop them going so crispy round the edges or cracking which makes them itchy. HTH x
  6. Very concise, would say that several of the "Call a Doctor" points could easily be "Go to ED" esp being under 3mths with a high fever & retractions (recession in the UK!). Do regular Dr's in the USA have immediate means to do XR's/blood tests? Wonder if this is why they suggest attending with more sever sympotoms than I would.
  7. Not ED but I haven't been anywhere else since discovering Kuki on Bellenden Road :)
  8. Big fans here too, so much so that Mr Buggie popped in with Bugglet & the guys were able to tell him what she normally has!! Really lucky to be so close by - will be even better when Bugglet gets over her issues with sharing the play as with other kids!!
  9. Phew!! Was worried there was something I'd missed!
  10. I loved BW, successfully (and I feel more baby led than me lead) breast fed with it & deaf I rely didn't see any mention of anything sounding remotely like CC in it. Found it really helped me put into perspective how to get myself organised (but being lead by the baby) & gave me the confidence/knowledge to pick up on when/how Bugglet wanted to change nap/feeding patterns.

  12. I lost 3lb this week :) very pleased. Finding myself bit more blas? about tracking, but mentally giving everything a point value, think my extra points are dipped into a bit daily! Started new job this week & have to take packed lunch which'll keep me on the straight & narrow (hopefully!) thinking about trying graze boxes a go as it needs to be easy to eat at a desk as there's no staff room. Went to an exercise class on Wed & trying out a boot camp class tomorrow... Finding Bugglet not liking the buggy as much as she use to problematic as don't get to power walk as much as I did a few months back (walking slowly kills me!)
  13. Something of note could be that hospital to hospital transfer is seen as lower priority than similar category 999 call as the patient is understandably deemed to be in a place of safety/has ready access to emergency medical attention. While possibly not a daily event, when it does happen it can be stressful to patient, family & staff also having a knock on effect to the effective running of the department. But, for management/DoH it's more the statistics of how frequently this could occur that matters - it would be interesting to see what the stats are in areas that have downgraded to UCC/minor inj units what their transfer out rates are & what the patient journey is for those patients (I know I've seen stories in the papers of distraught families where it didn't go so smoothly). Anecdotally, there is great variation in what families feel is sick enough for an ambulance - great majority of parents present of their own means & will often travel to where they feel the best care will be - completely understandable, but means if you're a high profile hospital you see families from further - funnily enough some of the worst at using their local and travelling further are often senior dr's & managers!
  14. Need to have a look at the full report (reading for once toddler in bed!), but how will an UCC without admission facilities work? Is often only after full assessment/initial treatment that you know if a patient will need to be admitted or not. Would patients found to be more seriously ill/injured need to be transferred out to another hospital for full A&E treatment which is what happens at QMH Sidcup (?in what order compared to pt's already at the A&E) and (in worse case) then being transferred back to UCHL for admission as nil room at the other hospital. LM: Guys doesn't have an UCC, it has a minor injuries unit which I believe has had it's opening hours cut in recent years.
  15. Lewisham isn't part of the failing trust though, it's worked hard to get balanced & must be doing ok as the TSA want it to take on QEH when the SLHT is split. 16. MM: If Devon & Cornwall had similar deprivation/transient immigrant population let alone similar population then fair comparison, but I don't think it's comparable in any way. I could've said similar of Suffolk where I grew up, but again the population is incomparable to round here.
  17. There's also - at no point in the TSA report reference made to the very well established & used Paediatric A&E at Lewisham and how changes to the services would impact upon the families, especially given that they make up approx 1/3 of the total patients through the dept. Find the comments below the article very interesting as hadn't realised the other & seemingly conflicting interests do Matthew Kershaw. I don't understand how the other local hospitals will cope (having worked st one of them very much on the front line for a decade until recently). On a simple map, I can see how downgrading Lewisham would make sense as it appears encircled by the other hospitals, however, if population density was also shown I wonder if it would change the perception, also, given deprivation levels how much more difficult it could be for families to access facilities if they are so much further away.
  18. I didn't think brown bin collections (which the Xmas tree collections are part of) go into landfill - admittedly haven't closely looked into this but pretty darn sure that the council wouldn't ask us to separate the rubbish out, giving us a bin to put it in & go to the trouble of having a separate collection round for brown bins if they went to the same place. I thought the council chip the Xmas trees collected & use them in parks/council flowerbeds & would guess it makes more sense to collect them & chip centrally than to take the chipper round the borough.
  19. My daughter was < 5lb at birth & I used a Close sling (ring sling with jersey like fabric) until I got a beco Gemini when she was 5mths old. I would have her positioned cross ways rather than upright - which was explained on the instructional DVD & was easier as she was so tiny it was difficult to suss out getting the uptight position right - I went to The Baby Show when she was 5wks old & asked for advice at the Close stand & even they found it tricky!
  20. (Cross posted with half the thread!)
  21. It's v bad that the note had been muddled, and that you felt so uncomfortable. I would suggest writing to The primary care trusts Patient Liason Service to so that the HV team reviews the issues you raise - things can't improve unless the problems are raised with them (& PALS is the most effective way). Speaking as a paeds A&E nurse, unfortunately frequent A&E attendances can sometimes indicate problems (ranging from the v v serious like Baby P down to stress within the family that a bit of support/advice from the HV could help to resolve) therefore, HV's & school nurses are informed of attendances and they often follow up whether by phone or visit (especially if several episodes occur in near succession). In my former dept, all families are asked if they have contact with social services as a matter of course (asking all means no stigma attached or assumptions made). I know as a parent myself I'd feel rattled if questioning seemed to question my parenting/childcare, but, the HV can't make assumptions & was probably so thorough as they thought all was ok but didn't want to miss a jot. Take heart from their thoroughness in that a genuine child in need would be identified by them and have the help they need.
  22. Another Kuki devotee here! Have had Gemma cut my hair & Pauline does my highlights & normally cuts my hair, wouldn't go anywhere else :-)
  23. I've just signed back up with WW online today. Had lost 1.5st by Sept but then holiday and few other things going on meant I left & have put 1st back on again :( Will be good to have some EDF motivation!! (Does pinning healthy tips/recipes and exercise advice on Pinterest help wt loss?!)
  24. Ooo - we might've seen your daughter last Sunday - we went & really enjoyed it - thought all the elfs/helpers were all fab (especially the 2 young elfs helping with the gingerbread men who were both very good with Bugglet). Yes it was more than a shopping centre Santa, but there was far more going on - Bugglet surprised us by being very clear on her instructions to the face painter (pink heart on her forearm!) and when the time came to meet the big man himself she got over her shyness & high five'd him several times :) Would be v interested in going again if it returned next year.
  25. I understand what you mean! Thank you - will d/w nursery next week.
