  1. We've just recently got a coffee table - one of those trunk style ones... which is already 1/2 full and has a near full layer of stuff on top too - how we coped before I do not know!!
  2. Leeds is good - nice play area/food options, plus you pay for entry once then can visit for free for the year - have already been back once! Easy journey straight down the M20
  3. Denmark hill reopened few hrs ago & traffic running as normal (in 484's case as rubbish as norm :) )
  4. ...hadn't noticed ref to talc!! Agree with Monkey to avoid the talc. Would suggest even less than a pea size lump would do - is much easier to add more than try and take any away/get it off your fingers afterwards! I use metanium on bugglet's bum every night and (touch wood) at 18mths she's never had anything more than a bit of redness on her bum.
  5. Would suggest just on the sore bits and if the bum crack/anus is inflammed then yes there as well.
  6. Nr St Austell rather than Padstow, but we stayed here: Bosinver Farm last year and are heading back for a fortnight in Sept. Still miss feeding all the animals in the morning & can't wait for our return visit :)
  7. I did intensive classes and we were all 35/36 wks at the start of the course. Think was perfect timing in that we all started mat leave and started having babies soon after so bonded well and were able to see lots of each other, plus everything discussed and theorised in the classes were put into practice quickly! Found the intensive days good as meant anything slowly digested earlier in the day could be questioned before the end of the day!
  8. Not a wedding, but I had to get a dress for a smart dinner while br feeding & found a wrap dress the perfect mix of smart, comfy & boob-ability - wore a camisole under so dress went down & cami up so didn't feel too exposed. Was also forgiving on my wobbly bits! xx
  9. Theres a sign up in my surgery (forest hill rd) saying the PCT (which covers all Southwark surgeries) have stopped doing malarone on nhs prescription but will issue private prescription for it (approx ?80 for 2 wk course). Would guess GP would be cheapest even with private px as their not going to be making a profit from this - unlike a private travel clinic which I'd expect would charge you for consultation as well. Probably worth enquiring at GP about yellow fever jab as well before looking at private alternatives.
  10. Oooo - knew you guys'd come up trumps!! Thought & ruled out "mad men" style (annoying as have perfect dress) as thought might be bit too grown up! Liking pirate ideas esp dressing bugglet up as a parrot - though if I got the toy parrot & dressed her in brown she could go as the perch maybe! Will let you know how it goes :-)
  11. Hoping to pick the collective creative minds of the forum... We've been invited to a friend's daughter's 2nd birthday party, got told it's fancy dress - thought bless will be fun excuse to dress up Bugglet, but we've now found out that hubbie & I are also exextend to dress up :-S So... Any ideas? Bugglet is 18mths & fairly small so unlikely to fit supermarket fancy dress & am clueless about me & hubbie - trying to think along nursery rhyme/fairy tale themes but no ideas yet!
  12. ;) @ Otta - was a lovely surprise to find you there! Just to echo what Otta said, the show was fab, all the toys & characters popped up and it had a panto feel with a few puns/jokes that flew over the kids! Bugglet isn't quite 18 mths & hadn't been to anything like this before, but the pace the show moved at meant she wasn't distracted and was waving/blowing kisses to Chris & Pui, overheard the mum behind saying that it seems they return every other year to venues but think there's several nearby-ish to here, although I'm fairly sure we'll be there again if their back in 2014!
  13. :( hubbie got delayed at work, and am working the next 2 days (deep joy) so making the most of seeing Mr Buggie awake, fingers crossed it'll be 3rd time lucky x
  14. Think she's overly harsh on OBEM - don't think the births have been overly medicalised... the woman who delivered the twins naturally and a couple of the pool births illustrate this and feel the mw's have been shown to be supportive while able to identify difficulties the Mum's are having and the options available to them. Obv there's going to be a big difference in "backstory" and "angle", as one is a scripted drama with a story arc clearly planned out from the adaptation of the original book, while with OBEM the stories are formed more organically from the material that is recorded (without any direction or requests being given to the families/mw's involved). Get the feeling that this MW's main problem was that OBEM dared to show hospital births but being able to do this programme in a different persons home each wk would have been impossible both logistically and financially.
  15. Yeah but she's rubbish on wound care ;) Makes more sense now - fustrating they weren't helpful - lister health centre might've been good alternative.
  16. To be fair, I don't think GP's have ever marketed themselves to be the go-to-place for immediate care after accidents or emergencies - possibly A&E would've been a better choice, or even your local chemist for advice on wound care/appropriate dressing. Hope your foot's better now.
  17. That's really good with general advice regarding preparing/knowing what to expect, glad that it sounds all went well for them x
  18. Would say that if it doesn't bother her, & it goes of its own accord leaving nil obv damage then there's not a huge amount to worry about - presuming all sensible sun protection used as/of appropriate. Can't remember what it's called. It think some people can be a bit sensitive to the sun if haven't had reg exposure but the symptoms ease as it gets more sunny/skin gets use to it. Afraid the name of it is another thing to add to the list of things that becoming a mum has made me forget! :)
  19. Bugglet and I have been doing the little dippers classes @ London Bridge and love them, we're just starting the advanced classes and still have several babies and mums who've been doing the same class with us for nearly a year. Being a hospital hydrotherapy pool it has generous changing rooms - the changing facilities at ED pool were a big shock (realised we'd been spoilt!)
  20. Bugglet did this a few months back - was really interesting, only took an hour and the researchers are lovely and very baby/child focused.
  21. Does seem to be a prolonged bug on the rounds at the moment - Bugglet and Mr Buggie have both had d&v symptoms which lasted around a week... about the only perk of nursing that I've got the immunity of an ox! Might be worth getting a urine dipped just to double check it's not a urine infection (sounds weird but I've seen stranger presentations!) x
  22. Mr Buggie is being given notice as soon as I'm in from work :)
  23. Toddlerworld - really like, open space (about the size of a basketball court) with variety of equipment/tunnels/balls/nets. Suitable for pre-walkers up to about 3yrs, Like that you can easily keep track of where your child is/don't have to crawl though small spaces/up several floors to keep up with them! Little Rascals - very good for walkers/toddlers up to ?10-11yrs. Good area for toddlers - plenty to challenge/encourage balance and climbing skills. Didn't try the cafe & thinking of taking kneepads for next visit so i can keep up with bugglet!! She was 15mths when we visited & didn't feel confident giving her free rein as we do at toddlerworld due to the multi-levels/holes to climb through. Hope that helps, sure others have opinions to add x
  24. If your maternity notes are anything like mine werethere's probably a page in them about the breast feeding workshop, I'm pretty sure the same phone number on there to arrange a place on the course can be used to contact Claire and her colleague Joanne (who helped me when Bugglet was born).
  25. Another fan of FHR & the duty Dr - 9/10 have just needed to make sure there isn't anything extra I need to do/have missed for bugglet but have always said they'd be happy to see her if I was still worried.
