How've I only just spotted this thread?!! Yay & big hug to Mr B There's a nurse in paeds ED who'd be v good for him to speak to, plus, nursing is often a 2nd career for people - can guarantee he'll be at the younger end of the cohort (I was at the v youngest end when I trained). Prob easiest to pm me any specific questions otherwise I could ramble on here for a bit! xx

Have you tried saline spray?? 1x spray up each nostril might help clear the snot (which is likely to be causing the noise). The calpol one is v good x

parent and child spaces in sainsbury's car park

I meant that it isn't something that puts them at an advantage over the other big name stores as they all do it - surely marketing exercises are meant to offer a unique opportunity not seen elsewhere. (cross posted with you explaining better what you meant Huguenot). -

If they were only done by sainsburys then yes, but it isn't exclusive to them, isn't even a recent development. (v well put civilservent as well). -

Damian H - I'd love to say that it's all because of me that those spaces are there & that I am that special, but sadly not. I'm just a regular woman (you wouldn't even suspect anything amiss if you saw me) who shock horror has a baby. Shockingly, shopping in the day (maybe even when you're at work) with my baby makes good sense time management wise, but, it's frowned on to leave babies in the car so I need space to get her out - at only 10 months she's not quite sussed getting in & out the car on her own you see. Unlike you, sainsburys have seen this & so decided to help. Am sure in real life you're a decent bloke would be keen to help make life easier for someone who appeared to be struggling but your online persona here is coming across as a bit of a git. -

I would have bit my tongue as well, but would have memorised his car reg and mentioned it to customer services on the way in & have done that before (it had taken 2 runs round to find an end of aisle space to park in as all the P&C spaces were taken & mood prob wasn't helped by a v grumpy baby!). -

I'd have no problem with the spaces being further away, for me it's purely that I need space to open the passenger door enough to be able to get my 10 month old out of her car seat and know that it won't get blocked in while I'm in the store. Half the time there isn't any space available and I do end up at the other end of the store. I'm afraid even after 6 pages of this thread, I still don't understand why there is such a hoo-haa about the provision of these spaces and the mentality of those who park in them without children - what makes them so special to take something that isn't for them/why can't they respect those it is provided for? -
Hooray he can sit himself up - oh no he refuses to sleep
buggie replied to reren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It's a phase!! Course, for us the end has also involved dropping to one nap a day (bugglet is 10.5mths) so could be part extreme exhaustion too! Was especially bad for us last week with the heat, but now seems she sits herself up to rearrange her cuddly toys before flumping (normally find her zonked out bum in air with a toy underneath her! Is really annoying though as takes a few weeks before you feel confident that they could sit themselves down again - till then you have to respond to the screaming as it's normally that their stuck stood up! -
This is what I found harsh: don't know what b/c means Saffron. It didn't sound like it was 'over nothing'. We are grown ups here. Either the poster made up a pack of lies OR there is a good reason they can't post on this subject anymore. It hasn't stopped them posting on an 'unimportant' subject elsewhere. Why not say something on the subject? Felt like you brought up the thread wanting further discussion, then when Saffron replied got chippy at her response which to me seemed unreasonable - I doubt anyone is deliberately trying to keep things hidden from you & think Saffron was reflecting what most of us had thought. I wonder if anyone has thought to PM the OP to check directly with them?
-
b/c = because Alan Medic think you're being unfairly harsh on Saffron (especially after you brought the thread back up after 3kwks) as she is simply saying what I'm sure we all hope was the case so bit surprised at you doing a good job at biting her head off in your next post. IIRC, everything the OP said in their first post was 2nd hand from her fiance & brother-in-law - nothing was ever posted having directly witnessed the situation. As I see it there are a few possibilities: 1/ The thread was deliberately started to attempt to get family room poster's knickers in a twist (maybe even an EDF version of frape - I agree it seems weird that the OP has commented on a christmas fair thread but not here since). 2/ The reported behaviour was (when witnessed by the OP) not as serious when s/he witnessed it themselves - could be that the reports she'd heard had been exaggerated (not maliciously - if a child is crying it can sound a lot longer than it really is). 3/ Something was going on, it's now being investigated by the appropriate authorities and it has been advised that commenting on this on a platform such as this could contravene confidentiality/impede the investigation/being able to help the family. Is this more the reply you were wanting?

Went to Jelly Babies at East Dulwich pool this morning and they had these out to use - might be worth popping along to try them out - I tried them on Bugglet and could see they were keeping her in a good position(but was unsure how to use them & only put one on each arm) and wish I'd used 3 on each arm as one of the r/v's recommends.

Sounds fairly typical baby poo! Reminds me of the poo-nami's Bugglet use to have (which always occured just before important appointments!). Especially if she's happy and is doing so well with wt gain (she's only 5lb off Bugglet at the moment!) I'd not be too worried - if it was making her bum v v sore/appeared to cause her pain passing it, I'd be more concerned. Are you still seeing MW's?? Maybe check with them when you next see them x

How frustrating the GD wasn't picked up till so late - the GD team were fab to me last year

Renata, if you're reading.. One o'c club
buggie replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Having just moved closer to Peckham Rye I was looking forward to the one o'clock club being done up and starting to go along, however having seen the new area & read the comments on here think I'll be finding somewhere else. As I don't fancy having to constantly stop bugglet getting wet/worrying about dog poo/knowing that if she suddenly decided to head off she could just keep going. Gavin the counsellor seems to have avoided the issue of the equipment being totally unsuitable for the younger (& more frequent) users of the one o'clock club - obviously visiting on a Saturday (or any day in the summer hols) there'll be children using it - maybe he should revisit the area mid week once the schools are back - hey, maybe even visit the one o'clock club (I'm guessing no councillors visited before the revamp?). Is interesting that there's been talk of the club loosing it's funding - were the council deliberately making the plot smaller/inappropriate so that by next year they could talk of "falling numbers" using the club and so defend the removal of funding? It all seems pretty shoddy - looking on the blog & seeing the pics of the counsellors on the play equipment just highlights how there's no way it is/would ever have been thought to be appropriate for under 6yr old :( -
I love my beco gemini (thank you forever BST!) I've only used it on my front (and with bugglet a mighty 6.45kg at 10mths I'm possibly not giving as fair an assessment) but it can also be used on your back and on your hip - slumber roo (google them) were fab to hire from before buying. Just out of interest, if carrying bubs on your back, what do you do bag wise?!

Well, I've just completed 2 online complaints forms, both regarding the bus design (as Saffron mentions above) and the driver we encountered this morning. After waiting 1/2hr for the bus (yup, I could have walked in that time but was running late - oh the irony!). We then encountered the grumpiest driver (apparently he'd hit a car earlier in the route) who both didn't warn me the buggie wouldn't fit down the aisle (recently moved so first time trying to use the bus) and then refused to open the back doors to let me on - was only due to another mum also berating him that he relented. Surely a set policy by the bus company on the correct etiquette for buggy users (?blanket rule that all buggys/wheelchairs get on at the back doors and confirm whether to touch in then get on/get on then touch in) which was known by drivers and passengers alike (signs on buses and at stops) would help ease this problem.... course this could just be too much like common sense for TfL!!
-
Oooh, thanks for reminding me - made sure I took a photo of the contact info so I could do an email! Can't believe how narrow the walkway is between getting on and the buggy bit... am sure Mum's and children must be one of the groups that keeps routes like this going so deserve better!
-
Having waited 1/2hr for a 484, then had the driver refuse to open the backdoors to let me on with bugglet in the buggy, luckily there was another mum at the same stop so with group effort on the fuss front he did finally let us on. Another lady on the bus told us his bad mood + the long wait was due to him clipping a car round the corner from our stop (don't get why other 484's didn't get by though as the 343's seemed to be running ok!). Doesn't look good for when I have to rely on this bus to & from work in a couple of months :(

Think it was nearer 4pm the race kicked off - happened to be heading home after a birthday party (1st birthday thus the early finish!) and managed to see all of the competitors from the car, was like poetry in motion! Saw the avocado lady, but was the dashing (as in running) chap in the dress that puzzled me ;-) Was shame couldn't stop to say hi, but with snoozing bugglet and the weeks shopping in the boot wasn't practical :(

Yaayyyy!!! So happy for you, beautiful name she has too :) looking forward to seeing pics! xx -
Saffron - have image of Bugglet now stuck to the floor trying to free either leg - will bare it in mind if I need her to stay in one spot! Have tried googling slipper socks but the guys making these things don't expect such little feet to be so active!! Sock-ons with grip would be fab!!
-
BST - those shoes look v nice but v similar to the leather shoes in ED (starfish or blue inch) I'm begining to think about footwear for Bugglet as she's v v close to walking and is fine barefooted but her feet get really cold & with wooden floorboards throughout socks (even the Gap ones) are too slippy. Does anyone know of really grippy socks in small sizes (at 10 mths she's still in 3-6mth clothes!)

Pregnancy/Baby Brain! Your anecdotes, please!
buggie replied to Mrs Nicklin's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Parents muddling up DOB's is something I'd regularly see in ED so don't worry RB, I'd find it amusing when asking parents if the child had allergies how often the parent would look at the child as if they had it written on their foreheads!! Twice during my pregnancy I shopped in Just William, the first time I realised a day later I'd left my debit card in their machine - luckily was in their safe & I could collect it. The 2nd time I was extra cautious about taking my card & ensuring it was in my purse, hot home & found I'd left the present in the shop! Really luckily they'd kept it for me to collect & the assistant was as relieved that I'd gone to check it was there as I was that it'd been kept!
