  1. TE44 & SW - I thought the Mum needed guidance on when to push as she'd had an epidural/spinal so couldn't feel the contractions (and so didn't feel hugely uncomfortable when they were having to do the episiostomy/forceps and whatever else ended up helping to get the baby out).
  2. Has Joan left?? Oh cripes - went on Wed for the first time since before Christmas & hoped she was on leave or off sick as the lady "leading" seemed to have been dragged out of an office without notice 'twas so badly prepared... How could they let her go? :(
  3. ...could identify with the staff talking about it in their staff room afterwards - calm on the outside, like jelly inside - esp the one who said about not being able to burst into tears and having to stay focused. Was I alone in being :O at the lovely boyfriend who's only problem was that he can't stay out of prison? (and the laughter between Mum and daughter at this!)
  4. Don't know answer to your queries, but if you can get to 5th floor of Peckham Library this am (think its 10-1130) the breast feeding cafe runs & the midwives running it can check for TT and let you know what the NHS would offer. Hope all's sorted soon.
  5. I accidently took Bugglet to this when she was only 8wks old when she was definately too young! Unless it's changed format, I recall it was more for toddlers with a bit of art and craft and then story/songs from 11am onwards. I'd suggest Rhyme Time at 11am on a Wednesday at the library for your daughter's age.
  6. ...worth going just for the look on the little un's face as Richard started the warm up :)) Had fantastic company but would be great to meet some mum's I don't know already!!
  7. Congrats on getting some into her :) I'd say anything goes when it comes to getting meds in - however, if putting meds into her bottle make sure you don't put much milk/drink in - you don't want to be left with a half finished bottle & unsure if she's taken it all/any of it. Are you using syringe or spoon? Find syringes much easier as if there's any wiggling it doesn't spill. Maybe even consider small reward (eg 1/2 or 1/4 a choc button) for each dose taken. The ab's should start to have a visible effect within 36-48hrs so fingers crossed she'll show signs of improvement v soon x
  8. I'd be loathed to use a normally prescription medicine on bubs before being seen by paeds - the dosaging is dependent on babies weight and to be thoroughly assessed that there isn't any other cause for bub's on going problems.
  9. Surely it's an obvious play on words rather than a suggestion that only bugaboo'd up/Cath Kidson clad/made up to the hilt Mum's would be admitted (although with Bugglet's Mon am swimming still haven't made it to one to check for myself :-$) As Otta says, seems daft to boycott the whole class due to the name - especially as in years to come their bound to say "don't judge a book by its cover" to their children!
  10. L-w-l - All I know about the situation is what I've seen on here & the SE23 thread you linked to, although the tone o the other thread makes me wonder if a brothel would've been more welcome! The covernant on our flat dated back a bit further than 1938 (but only by 30 odd years). Fingers crossed to Piplings. Can't see the harm in naming those involved in the court action - surely unless there was a super injunction in place the information is in the public domain to anyone interested anyway.
  11. We had a covernant like this on our old flat - seem to remember being told the history of them were to prevent homes being turned into houses of ill repute (which I'm guessing could be more disruptive than a nursery!). The thread on the SE23 forum leaves a bad taste in the mouth as there were obviously residents gunning against the nursery & trying to scare others onto their side from the off :( Fingers crossed all goes well in ED for them & those families left nursery-less are able to sort out alternate arrangements. Is there any chance of Piplings appealing?
  12. I'd guess most who've followed the link have gone ::o and struck the typing version of dumb!
  13. We started off with (and with bugglet now 16mths still go to) Toddlerworld at Crystal Palace Sports Centre - is open plan so no squeezing into tight spaces to follow them but has plenty to keep young 'uns occupied and challenge/encourage motor skills.
  14. Eurax cream is suppose to be fab & oatmeal baths (oatmeal in a sock to avoid it becoming porridge!). Fingers crossed you're over the worse soon xx
  15. Thrupenny bits cushion is what you need - Here Bugglet was only 2.1kg and kept falling down the gap between me & the cushion but the thrupenny has ties so no slippage & light as a feather to take out & about (would pop it on the bottom of the buggie in a big bag incase it rained!! I noticed an immediate improvement in the quality/comfort of feeds - went from thinking I'd never be able to feed while out & about to feeding out & about nearly once a day :) plus, the lady behind them is Forest Hill based so I emailed her & was able to pop round to collect one within 2 days & saved on postage.
  16. The butchers up by the plough sells bottles of Dark Ginger Cordial which is lovely with fizzy water - its not as fiery as Ginger Beer & isn't too sweet tasting. Cordials with fizzy water are way to go as you can have them as weak/strong as you fancy... My Mum-in-law always has schler in and it's like drinking syrup - bleugh!
  17. I think the br feeding cafe is on a Thurs morning - found it really useful with Bugglet and would second the advice to attend (there were often mums with toddlers there so wouldn't be difficult to take your older child too. While Bugglet wasn't a grazer, it was v difficult to get her to feed, and the big bit of advice Joanne (one of the br feeding consultant mw's @ kings) gave me was to use the same boob for any feeds within 3hrs to ensure bubs got the hind milk and wasn't too gassy. Fingers crossed things settle for you both soon x
  18. Ahhh Cinque Terra - beautiful spot for a break, combined it with a few days in Venice & Florence one year (got trains between places) and loved it - worth going (to Cinque Terra) at Easter or Christmas as in Manarolo they have illuminations on the hillside.
  19. 3 is terrible in Nunhead (between the cemeteries) I'm not with them, but my Mum is and can't get any signal when she visits.
  20. Saffron - the insulin levels with gestational diabetes are the same, it's the extra hormones produced by the placenta that inhibits its effectiveness (& thus is reversed immediately following the birth). Having known few other friends with GD during their pregnancies, care and support offered varies wildly from trust to trust - even blood sugar testing varies. It's only myself & my NCT friend who didn't end up on medication/insulin & wonder if that's due to the close monitoring/support Kings gave us both.
  21. if it started in 2008 the parents of 7yr and under would have, plus, even if they didn't go through EYFS, having older children they will be able to with hindsight, give ideas of what did/didn't aid their children in reaching their potential.
  22. Would guess their looking for feedback from children who've been through it & can comment on how useful they feel it's been/what changes they'd suggest. Asking a group of parents who's children are younger would be interesting but unlikely to be as useful (would be like asking a group of first time mums-to-be how to redesign a maternity unit when new mums who've actually used the unit thru pregnancy & birth would have clearer ideas - *this is just an example!*)
  23. It's more your sugar levels/diet to worry about than current assumed size of the baby. Your levels are above normal & this is more indicative. Were you seen in the GD clinic at Kings yet? (presuming you've had a glucose tolerance test - once done never forgotten bleugh!!) If yes then surprised they've left you with what seems vague advice :( I had diet controlled GD in my pregnancy - Was tested after a high random glucose at 28wks (if you search "gestational diabetes" in the search box you'll prob see posts I made at the time). I had to test my blood sugar before brekkie & 1 hr post my 3 main meals aiming to be below 7 (especially tricky in the morning as hormone levels highest). You'll have few extra scans so that growth can be monitored & the placenta (sugary blood can cause damage to it). Plus post-birth bubs'll need it's blood sugars checked for 24hrs post birth to check your sugar levels haven't affected their levels/they normalise. Hope all makes sense soon x
  24. Fab... Have found lightweight car seat for ?30, going to have that & the buggie as our free items, then am considering buying a ready bed instead of the travel cot (unless anyone has ready bed tales of doom for me!!)
  25. Ahh fab thank you v much JB - Mr Buggie couldn't find anything on the easyjet website when he looked!
