  1. Sounds great - Bugglet (10 mths) is so wiggly would be great to have something inbetween a mum & baby group and full on soft play!
  2. Not decorated cakes myself (am sure my time will come though!), but remember my mum doing lots of fancy cakes. Unsure about the ready roll icing (?sainsburys - ??will have advice on the pack about volume required), but am sure she use to pipe fiddly bits onto grease-proof paper and then (once dried/hardened) flip them off with palate knife. Hope that helps!
  3. Omg - I can double click between apps.... Mockers you're amazing!! The r/v's of the app are pretty poor... Do the wonder weeks just go up to 1yr or beyond?
  4. Maybe it is through working with children and families and being in a situation where there often isn't chance to find the parents (who should be supervising their children) before asking children to stop behaviour which could be dangerous to others in the area. I think that if there isn't a parent/carer around to speak to regarding the behaviour of the child, then a polite word to the child pointing out that deliberately spraying a baby full in the face with a water cannon is appropriate... I mean, we're all agreed that that isn't acceptable behaviour aren't we?? Something more minor obv wouldn't need such urgent attention, but think this situation justified it. Obviously if the parent/carer is around then yes, they should be approached first, but am sure that a "Stop that" or similar would escape my lips (and possibly get the parents attention). I'm surprised that no one so far has considered the affect that this father having a go at Fuschia could have on the child and how this could lead to them not caring about the effect their behaviour could have on others as if anyone complains their dad would have a go at them back thus allowing the child to (possibly) get away with anything they like.
  5. Would it be premature to ask what date B&S will return on?!
  6. Having been through similar bug last week, continue offering bf's & rather than water would offer dioralyte (bugglet loved the blackcurrent one!) If nappies are considerably drier (1/2 as many as normal), is especially drowsy or any other worries & would see GP/contact SELDOC/A&E
  7. I understood it as a sentence Moos! Interestingly lunch (albeit a pouch) was yomped down in record time - not holding my breath, but think she might have realised how useful breakfast can be! Thanks for all the advice/reassurance chaps! x
  8. Ooo - smoothies - could try the sippy cup again (anyone know where to buy sou'westers?!) :) Feeling more relaxed than I was 1/2hr ago - thanks guys!
  9. Thank you guys! BST - did wonder if it could be development linked too as she does seem to be learning/refining skills by the day & her morning naps are bit all over the shop at the mo as well. She did feed herself a couple of spoonfuls, but for the 2 that went in, 2 went behind her ears, 3 on the floor and 1 over my top! Think moving house/developmental leaps/gastroenteritis aren't good bed fellows! Snowboarder - thanks for the pouch tip... Bugglet does like sucking/squeezing them into her mouth so will try that for lunch! Annoyingly she is v good with fruit & would happily eat berries all day (cripes knows the effect that could have on nappies - bleugh!).
  10. As above really - Bugglet (9.5mths) had a tummy bug over the w/e and a random vomit a few days ago. Obviously I'm expecting her to be a bit funny with food, but it feels like meals are turning into a bit of a battle with her flinging her arms/hands around to block any attempt to get food nearby. Even favourites such as weetabix & banana or veg & cheese sauce are barely being touched. I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to try and remain upbeat & unbothered (she's seemingly unbothered by reducing her intake so drastically) and once she seems to loose interest I stop otherwise I can see a real battlefield would emerge. Know lots will be reading this thinking "Ah, yes, been there & done that" so any advice or reassurance would be fab **Disclaimer - PLEASE do not turn this into a traditional v's BLW - I do offer finger foods and she does take these ok, but majority ends up on the floor & as a v active 0.4-2nd centile lass she's got alot less to loose than some, so I'm not about to completely go for that**
  11. Think that's the mixture that if you try to splash/hit it it turns solid doesn't it? Pouring mentos sweets into a bottle of coke has a pretty dramatic effect (one for the bottom of the garden!) lots of videos demonstrating are available on you tube!
  12. Up by tower bridge there's a Strada (has fab views too), it's less than 10mins walk from London Bridge. Otherwise on the thames heading towards Tate Modern there's a Pizza Express... Interested to know any non-chain ideas though!
  13. Yup & yup... Doesn't everybody?! x
  14. With a younger baby I'd heartily recommend bumps & babes on a Friday at St Faith's - think it's 930-1100. Made v good friends via the group there & Alice who runs it is fab.
  15. Think it's a Thursday at ?6pm - am sure if you call the ward the receptionist would be able to let you know... Worth considering that the tours are dependent on having rooms free to show/no emergencies (our tour was cancelled due to an emergency).
  16. I've got one of the bubble style travel cots (samsunite I think). Happy to lend to you for the trip - especially in a caravan you're not going to have much space - something we didn't realise when renting a holiday cottage few wks back - we all ended up in one bedroom as our (other big travel cot) wouldn't fit in either of the single bedrooms!
  17. Thanks for the reassurance - btw, what would be best course of action to take if you come across a swarm? (the guys yesterday were taking photos but unsure if they'd done anything else & I had to get bugglet home for milk).
  18. Saw the swarm buzzing around there at about 230pm as I pushed uv let by in her buggie - there were several guys looking at it/taking photos (but my view was hindered by the tree & i thought they were looking at the areials ontop of the co-op!)and it wasn't until I was right under it I realised what they were looking at (they finally said "be careful"). Was little bit worried as bugglet was smothered in raspberry juice but they were about 7ft high & didn't notice.
  19. Wow - really useful - especially the pages describing "nesting". We would nest all babies on the ward (normally as the cots are huge so little one's are easily lost) and with the bugglet being tiny (under 5lbs) I nested her in the moses basket and am sure it helped her sleep so well as she always felt well supported, I'd use a blanket as a 'U' shape from shoulder to shoulder and pop a muslin over the top (so easy to change if she vomited) and have the cardie I wore for middle of the night feeds near her so she could smell me. For those having wind/reflux probs at the moment, I found it useful to have the moses basket stand propped up on a book (I'd guess a 30 degree angle) and Bugglet nested, swaddled - for first few wks in a muslin (right from birth her arms would escape!) and on her side (the nesting meant she couldn't roll onto her front & I'd alternate the side she laid on). I did this more through what felt right for my baby (was worried she'd possit in her sleep)rather than professional judgement (although my past experience probably had some affect on this), and as she got bigger she would settle on her back. Is funny thinking of this now, as now at 9mths whenever I peek in on her she's in a different position/place in the cot - thank cripes for gro-bags!
  20. that links to a jpeg rather than the leaflet :(
  21. Mr Buggie saw it happen - said it looked like something out of a film, but also that he saw someone get out of the car after it had somersaulted. What shocked me was that having seen it happen (at around 1845) he didn't tell me about it until I was trying to get to sleep!
  22. Guardian Report Find final few paragraphs suggest there may be far more to this than has been reported.
  23. :) Ryedalema - I remember it well! And yes, Bugglet was born there too (after only just walking in!). Was with Oakwood midwives and luckily had their support on the labour ward. Found the postnatal ward ok (was first time I'd been a hospital in-patient so had nothing to judge it by). Have repeatedly heard stories about Mayday (as was) and know parents would often travel over to Kings ED despite having it on their doorstep.
  24. Admittedly I've only read a small piece on this, but was under the impression it had been dropped in favour of locally organised initiatives - which could be more helpful surely??
  25. :( I can't drink red wine... If only White had the same effect!
