We were away for 15 nights. We went late spring, and started with a few days in Zambia just up the Zambezi from Victoria Falls, then went into Botswana which I agree is the most amazing and friendly place - we did a camp which was close to the Chobe and had been recommended as a "dry" camp although the channel the camp was on had flooded so we had hippos under our room! We then a few days in a camp on the Okavango River - fell asleep to the sound of thousands of bell frogs (size of your thumbnail) who literally sounded like a chorus of tiny bells - gorgeous which helped detract from the twin beds pushed together but with twin mozzie nets! Rather than Zanzibar, we went on to Marlin lodge which is just off the coast of Mozambique - perfect contrast to the early starts of the safari camps and beautiful paradise like beaches, plus lots done by the lodge to support the local community - left lots of our clothes over there to donate to them. We knew we wanted to start a family fairly soon after marrying and so this was the perfect once-in-a-lifetime break before we commited to family friendly/uk based hols :)

Man collapsed in Peckham Rye Park yesterday morning.

A quick search on the forum would indicate not as he posted yesterday. the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Its not Davidh is it? -

I've lost 7lb so far, had a fab first week where I lost nearly 5lb, but since have only lost a pound a week. Am happy to still be losing, but find it bizarre that the first week I had a massive 3 course Sunday lunch & lost lots and the following weeks I've behaved better & been more active but lost less (while eating all dailies + most of weeklies!). Am in a similar position to Pebbles where I want to get back into my running but hubbie has been stupidly busy @ work & out too early/back too late for me to fit one in. Going to have to try & get the Davina DVD out ESP as the exercise class I have mananged to attend with bugglet finishes for the summer in a few weeks :(

Very clever, what a shame that lots of the comments left are by people clueless about the meaning of it.

Bugglet (& I) like the counting bear app - you can set it so that the numbers are randomised & each slide has different objects to count so you can also talk about what their counting as well as how many. Bugglet played this on holiday through our whole meal (she'd eaten already) but typically we interact with her while playing. Not had chance to fully read what Parkview linked to, but surely like TV, moderation & interacting with them while playing/making it a starting point for discussion and play. Plus, if you need a few mins to have a shower/cook/make an urgent call uninterrupted then the 5mins spent playing it alone is the lesser evil to being a stressed/distracted Mum.

Anyone's baby had a 24 hr impedance probe study?
buggie replied to Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Is it a pH study you've been offered?? Saw lots of these being done but over 10yrs ago when I worked on a children's ward so technology may have moved on a bit! If it is the same test though, little 'un will have an NG tube passed - if you've ever seen anyone with a tube in their nose to have food with it's very similar. It's uncomfortable to put in because the nose/throat are sensitive but once past the epiglottis it can't be felt (expect/prepare for resistance & tears but also trust the Nurses & Dr's - they'll advise you how to support him & help them). Once in, if able to immediately distract - it isn't too uncomfortable. The tube connects to a small box that records all the data which is held in a small bag that you carry/the child can if their able/want to. Hope this helps - like I said, it's been a fair few years so maybe different. -

Water jet wet play area finished in Brockwell Park?

Does anyone know if it's open week days & whereabouts in the park it is? -
I made a complete guesstimation (looked up millionaires shortbread on the tracker & went for the highest quality one of approx same size as I had) at 8 points - given I did only have 1/2 a slice - felt v satisfying! Any idea how much cod & chips from Sea Cow would be?? Really fancy it tomorrow!

Minder said: > when pregnant at 35 I > remember looking at my notes and it said something > like prima gravida. I found out it means an older > mother! You got told wrong m'love - that means first pregnancy... strange if it wasn't! We're fairly settled on having 2... has always appealed to stop at 2 & don't mind if we have 2 girls or one of each. Hubbie says after that we can get a dog :D

Having initially been a bit confused & worried I'd signed up for something too confusing to follow, I'm actually really getting into it - in first 9 days (signed up on a Sunday but doing Wed weigh-ins) I lost 5lb despite a 3-course Sunday lunch! Am hooked on point counting & sussing out that if I'm going to use treat points then it should be for something really nice (1/2 slice of millionaires shortbread in The Dish & the Spoon yesterday - yum!!) & walking the 2.5 miles into work this am while pushing the buggy (inc going up Dog Kennel Hill!) has def boosted my activity points!! Roll on Wednesday so I can weigh myself again :)

Any idea how to find out which routes will be affected in advance - googling has lead to stuff about the last bus strikes & London underground section of TfL website (oh the irony!)
-
It was Bristol Road Motors (part of a Ford chain) immediately before the demolition/building of Altima Court. I bought my first car there in 2001.

The sainsburys tortelloni is on there (at least the one I had tonight!) is on there but beware the spell check that changes the spelling - an 'o' instead of the first 'i' x

Especially if he's not had the full dose of ab's think it'd be unlikely to be making him worse. Could it be that where he's still not up to 100% he's wearing himself out sooner in the day - kids don't realise they need to take it easy after they've been ill & so try to go at their normal (typically high) speed & run out quicker. From your description it sounds like he's on the upward swing, but def give GP a ring if you're still concerned xx

Parenting and self esteem; thoughts?
buggie replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh no - I lost my badge (possibly without wearing it *blush*)... Although saying that, I'd like to think I'm fairly approachable - despite often being v v rubbish with names/ where I've met people before. Remember reading but can't remember if it was covered in the previous thread, but I still (with Bugglet heading towards 21 months) morn the friends who seem to have taken a big step back since I became a Mum. For some it was that I'm not able to run around fitting in with their schedules at short notice as I use to, but others have really surprised me. There was a point where I was so ready for a night out, had Hubbie desperate to get me out the house for a night but couldn't find anyone to go out with :( Have found a few fab mummy mates & so have been out a few times but think it's more acceptance that things will be different to the "different" I'd envisaged.... Roll on FR drinks!! -
Ooo yes - hoping nothing will get in my way this time Wed or Thurs best for me x
