Has There Been A Defining Moment In Your Life?
buggie replied to Tony.London Suburbs's topic in The Lounge
Think mine was moving to London - had applied to do nursing but was caught out when the day after my interview the college called and offered me a place on the course starting a week later!! I got everything together and moved down from the middle of no where in East Anglia to take the place (supported by my parents who had to tolerate my tears/excitement equally!) and have never regretted it - I'm sure I wouldn't be where I am both professionally and personally today. -
...if there was such a pub I don't think we'd need directions - just listen out!!! :-S
-
... you'd be hard pushed to find a pub causing disturbance to everyone within a 1 mile radius.

Having been able to hear the music/fireworks so clearly on Friern Rd that we looked out towards Dunstans Road looking for where they were going off (it was only the joy of sky + that stopped me posting that night cursing missing bits of Damages!) I can only imagine how loud and disturbing they must have been to anyone nearer and how much a nightmare it would have been to settle disturbed little 'uns back to sleep. It shows the school as being very blinkered to their responsibilities towards those they share their immediate environment with and shortsightedness as there were numerous ways they could have alerted locals to it - poster's outside the school/local shops even having some of the first time posters on this thread could maybe have joined up a week earlier. It is frustrating that those who (I'm guessing have links to the school) have been so defensive and lacked empathy with the complaints have given more weight to some of the arguments of what the school can be like.

On at least two occasions > the ashes "blew back" and stuck on the side of the > submarine, which meant we had to wash them off the > casing when we arrived back in port. ... we had a similar thing with my Dad's ashes - having snuck them into Land's End (in a rucksack!) and finally found a secluded spot to scatter them (out of rambler's view) I didn't even consider wind direction and had most of him blow back over my jeans and my suede trainers - one of which was several shades lighter ever after!! Further ashes were scattered over the Land's End site as we found more ash in our pockets and other places. Knowing Dad he was probably behind the inital gust that blew him over us!!

Not going to make this one :'( working late and got to keep myself fresh for whatever mischief is planned for me over the w/e -
Surely it's a bit too soon for any summer forecasts to be accurate... any idea what it'll be like in Suffolk end of March though anyone?!!!

Is Tim Campbell lining up to become a politician ? unsure - he was on masterchef last night eating but don't think he's lining up for a job as a food critic... could it be he epitomises the working class boy made good? (edited as kebab excitement leapt in!)

I don't mind it - more signed up to follow peeps than to expect them all to be hanging on my 140 characters. It's like they've condensed FB to my favourite bits (the status comment) without all the bits that irritate me eg, all the quizzes/requests etc that go with it. Instead on Twitter there are interesting things linked to especially by Stephen Fry and Ben Goldacre and its much more take it or leave it and don't get repeatedly reminded about it! Wouldn't say its for everyone, but it's currently floating my boat! :-$

...prob not who I'd have top of the list to share a hot tub with, but hope you're having a fab birthday xxx

Learnt to do 1. when sent on car maintenance course as a teenager (my dad had some weird ideas) - when I had a flat tyre last year was scuppered by the clip holding my spare wheel in (to be fair had just completed a night shift as well!). 2 & 12 did when a brownie/guide - doesn't everything come with plugs already these days?! 6 & 12 wouldn't want to do either - even a medium spicy curry has my lips tingling in a bad way. 3, 4 & 7 I've helped with and feel confident I'd be able to do (agree with Sean on the partition wall front). 8 - nope. 9. Am sure I've done more than some parents! 10. Would need to wuss out and use the manual! 13. Know the theory (pop it in a bucket of water and locate the bubbles) - is there then sandpaper involved?! 14. No, but did put together an iron framed double bed on my own - does this count?! 15. Er.... could I try a yard of shandy?

Yes by Mac-something and Butler is v good.... me and my friend use to have a whole track list in our heads of songs for the single/dumped, but never got as far a writing it down, and haven't needed to refer back to those sorts of songs in a while. "In Demand" by Texas is good - prob more so if you've found someone else and bump into your ex seeming to want you back (possibly bit early on at the mo for Kistanbul but sure it'll happen!). Am sure an anti-valentine/love/getting over being dumped compilation CD would prob be quite a big seller this time of year!!

... I leapt in and started a thread straight off as well: castaway - East Dulwich contestant Posted by: buggie 07 March, 2007 08:53 wasn't planning on watching it, but in the paper today turns out one of the contestents is ED-ish (my fave from the 'What are we thread'!!). Might be cos I've just been doing a night shift and so need my bed, but I thought that was quite exciting. Hello to all btw - been lurking since the w/e so thought I should register!! :)) thought I'd held out longer lurking before posting!!

EDF Drinks - tonight Friday 6th February - Black Cherry
buggie replied to georgia's topic in The Lounge
... have got back and realised I warmed up so much I left my cardie there - if anyone's picked up a grey M&S autograph cardigan (or handed it in as lost property) could they let me know?!! Otherwise a v good night - nice to chat to so many peeps. Cocktails were fab and the nibbles were good too! Going to bed now as got extractor fan man arriving at 08.30!! x -
I see you're uncoolness annaj and I'll raise you.... how about adding in a dash of Radio 2?!! I have Absolute, Radio 1 and 4, Heart and Capital as preset stations on my car radio but still I find myself going back to Radio 2 (just to confuse have that preset as station 1!!) Find it esp satisfying to have talk back to the radio at some of the numpties they have on Jeremy Vine (inc the man himself!). Had to head up the the wilds of East Anglia and back the other day and apart from Steve Wright - who was esp annoying me - it was R2 all the way - added treat was having Tom Jones on with Chris Evans! ... is there anyone uncooler than me?!!

....at a wild guess... first friday of March - to make it easy thats the 6th again! -
hmmm, don't think it was this one but saw one lad before I finished who'd been assaulted following a snowball fight - not in the worst state I've seen an assaulted person but even so, not the end to a "snow day" him or his family wanted.
