Where is / IS there an East Dulwich Hotel
buggie replied to PeckhamRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
fairly sure the hotel (as was) is at the lordship lane end of overhill road - as you look from the junction it was on the left and has just been converted into flats. -

Always thought it strange that it was called "Chopsticks" and yet you had to ask to have them on the table!

Kings College Hospital - going to the dogs?
buggie replied to louisiana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Louisiana - sounds like you had a rubbish time (esp with the rudeness of the opthalmologist), so I advise you put everything you detailed in your opening comment in a letter or email to the PALS (patient advocacy and liason)dept at Kings. As with any large organisation it's impossible for it to always be known what is going on at all times. All complaints have to be addressed by the dept's involved and fed back to the complainant. Roughly, you can get everything off your chest (as you have done here) only with feedback from the hospital, and the happy glow of knowing you might've helped instigate change for the better. If you're having crap service is always worth looking out for the PAL's leaflets or even asking staff for one - if it's Mon-Fri 9-5 you can even pop into their office (nr the main entrance). -
Thank you D_C for being able to come up with reasoned arguments to Huguenot's posts - having read it I had to step away from the keypad of my laptop for fear of typing in anger. ::o I don't think I've ever seen anything written by nurses declaring they be treated like higher class citizens/"angels" Most of the time these sorts of comments are written by people who have needed to be cared/have watched their family be cared for and been happy with that care - normally just before they say how they couldn't do our job. Despite the sentiment often behind them it normally makes me cringe because its just what I'm good at and enjoy. I am happy with my salary and would never complain about it, however, to continue to interest people into joining the profession (especially when it becomes degree entry) I think this could be a problem - there are way less stressful ways of earning a living post-degree. If we were walking round wearing tiara's and staring down our noses at white collar workers and the like then yes I think Huguenot's comments would hold more water, instead we're normally too busy to think of it.

While on the whole I was, that bit should have ended with a smiley!! :-$

Was told by a nurse lecturer today that within the next few years nursing will become degree entry (to get much beyond a junior band 6 post these days you need to at least have started to work towards a degree) While nurses aren't poorly paid, given the amount of responsibility (both towards pt's and in a managerial capacity) the rates of pay do not compare well with similarly responsible job in the private sector - doesn't help make nursing very appealing, think social work has similar problems. Can imagine recruitment worsening once the diploma is phased out as there are lots of good nurses who wouldn't be able to/feel confident to do a degree straight off (I certainly wasn't). I do agree with your points Keef but in nursing you're far more likely to have to deal with people in acute crisis/stress which does put a bit of a different twist on things. ???? - sadly I'd left the drinks early on Fri after 1 shandy (was home before 10pm!) but in my defence, was working the whole w/e - guessing you never caught on to checking the off-duty of the nurses you knew; catch us with the next day off and we're all wild!!

I'm of the belief its Mitch Benn (would make sense as he does lots of other radio comedy stuff) - does Phil Cool still do anything?!

awwww nooooo..... now I'm really sad I had to do such a fleeting visit!! Everyone was in such good spirits it was v v difficult to leave so early, but am feeling the benefits today! Roll on Feb 6th!! x

Mick Mac - could you supply all of us with stationery?? :) Not all of us work with free stationery on offer at our workplace, or maybe don't work but still need bits and bobs. While not a fan of Raylon (haven't had problems with them but always seems a strange atmosphere there) think what they offer can be useful.

Lovely Ladies:A Question re: Your Future Husbands "ex"
buggie replied to Tony.London Suburbs's topic in The Lounge
blimey that's enough to make my head spin!! Luckily Mr Buggie doesn't have any ex-wives or is intouch with ex-girlfriends and similar is true of me... at our wedding there will be the guy I went on my first ever date with, but that was about 14yrs ago, and never really went much beyond that! He'll be there with his wife and kids and having met him several times Mr Buggie is fine with the situation (although interestingly am sure his wife has warmed to me more since the arrival of Mr Buggie!!). -
Peckham Rye's good to see them - never noticed them when running, but few months back walked round there and saw loads of them.

... is now the time to mention I've another week off!!!

... me working christmas so will get home (hopefully before 10pm) and have the dinner that future mother-in-law'll have saved for me!

Are > you just getting your claws out because they're > pretty ladies, or do you really think that in a > show formatted around celebs learning to dance ... def didn't see this in my original post.... if anything the only things I did say were regarding what I feel were poor choreographic choices by the professionals (I believe they were both partnered by MEN!!). Don't see how Tom put any less effort into learning/training - if the hours trained counted towards the score too then any celeb who was trying to do their proper job at the same time (as Lisa was the whole way through) would be completely disadvantaged.... Oooo isn't it good to discuss the important issues of the day!!!

Think it is fair after the show dances that Tom won, Rachael and Vincent were very good, but did find them bit repetative and felt like they didn't show anything new or exciting in their dance. Did think it was quite amusing that Brendan tried to give himself a hernia during his show dance with Lisa - thought for a sec that he wasn't going to manage to do that reverse roll-up thingie. Course Mr Buggie and I have picked up a few tips and tricks for our first dance in a few mths!! :-S
