  2. I have only walked past and looked in but it looks worryingly like a serial killer has written the menu on the mirror in his/her victims' blood.
  3. How about contacting one of the local breweries - they maybe able to personalise something if you order enough? Alternatively you could brew your own at www.londonbeerlab.com
  4. Good response Louisa. Most of what Giles Coren writes is also tongue in cheek, and mostly just a long intro to a final line pay off - I wouldn't take it too seriously, even if it does touch a nerve. People see value in different things. I don't see Iceland as providing bargains, although I admit it is cheap. It is a shame that local businesses are disappearing, but great to see new local businesses emerging. No-one wants a homogenised high-street on LL, no-one wants another Clapham, but that doesn't mean we should shit on anything new.
  5. What did you to piss off Giles Coren Louisa? He has had a right go at you in TimeOut... http://now-here-this.timeout.com/2015/01/20/giles-coren-they-are-determined-to-keep-london-shitty/?DCMP=OTC-cid=com-coren
  6. You do not address the very pressing issue of the sticky gate at St John's. This is an issue both ON PEAK and OFF PEAK and therefore your solution looks completely half-baked. If you don't have anything useful to say, don't say anything useful at all - or so my mother used to tell me. I propose perhaps a traffic light system at the roundabout end and permanent closure of the St John's gate would solve the problem. The path will only be accessible by those capable of leaping over the fence thus reducing the problem caused by inconsiderate parents, the elderly and infirm, and heavy-dog dog walkers.
  7. When banks are open there is the option to go inside and use the ATMs that are in the building.
  8. Is that the I am Kloot tribute band se22cat? ;)

    Local taxi prices

I have used uber at 5am isn and there were cars within 10mins at that time. I would give yourselves 10-15mins to be safe but my bet is that you would be OK.
  11. A good first effort your lordship, if the aim was helping me to "lose my shit". Apologies if the following sounds like a rant but your cute little ditty has twisted my pants. Hipsters and buggies are ruining this place. In 1994 you could see the odd face without piercings or beards or something else shifty and we once had an average age of near fifty. These new-folk rattle on about progress and change but this gentrification is downright deranged. 20 years later and what have we got? Another f*ckin' italian in the mexican's old spot. Cheese on toast, it's the same old story, you'll find a much healthier meal in the Dulwich Tandoori if you have space for dessert go to kebab and wine Five pounds of your hard earned and nutritionally fine. A post-prandial drink in the Cherry Tree would be ill-advised if you're asking me The staff are brutes and the place is doomed lets hope wetherspoons revives it with microwave food. etc.

Recently had a reworking of this dish at Magdalen - it's a dream dish that any "foodie" worth their Maldon would laud.

Not everything is about you John K.
  14. Such a sweeping generalisation makes you sound like both a coffee snob and a squazzmonkle. I've had shit coffee in Australia, I've had shit coffee in the UK. Find a cafe run by a Kiwi in London and you might get a good coffee here too.
  15. My mother used to tell me that russian food would give me indigestion.

I don't begrudge the fireworks organisers really just felt a bit skadoodled out of my hard earned by TfL - sadly put a dampener on an otherwise lovely (and dry) evening.
  17. Unfortunately Blackheath, despite being free, surreptitiously charged attendees travelling by train by blocking oyster gates at the station and charging max fare. Lines of police/security were insisting minimum fare would be charged but on checking max fare was charged on both outward and home journey. I called TFL for a refund today and they seemed to think it was OK to expect people to have to ring for a refund despite being told that they wouldn't be charged on the night. Rant over.

A Rogan Josh should be made with dried chillies not fresh chillies, but this kind of food snobbery is embarrassing, so I'll leave it.

This may well be to avoid the inevitable dog running off with string of sausages scenario.
  21. Thanks for logging in to make the recommendation Danielle! I'll take it with a pinch of local fine sea salt.
  22. I went once with my husband on his anniversary and the service was just awful. They didn't offer us sparkling water with the meal and they looked at us rather sniffily when we used our TasteCard. The fish was very tender and the vegetables al dente (just like hubby likes them) I prefer mine more traditional style. Safe to say we will never be returning.
  23. Covering all those techniques in one session may be a bit of a stretch. Especially as your technique will develop over time - just one session will not teach your body how to recognise correct form as you continue to train, and especially as you start to fatigue. You are better off joining a beginners class at a gym or potentially an on ramp at a cross fit box, to get some more thorough training in technique. There is a new crossfit box open in Peckham I think, or more established box nr Bethnal Green (cross fit london)
